Morrowind Mod of the Day Ep375 - The Art of Archery Showcase
In vanilla Morrowind, it takes quite a bit of skill to score a headshot on an opponent with a bow and arrow, but there's no actual damage bonus for doing so, for Morrowind doesn't actually have location-based damage. Or, at least, it didn't, for today's Mod of the Day is The Art of Archery - Deadly Headshots by JosephMcKean, a gameplay mod that adds locational damage to archery, allowing you to score critical hits on the head, neck, and knees!
A single headshot with a simple iron arrow is enough to take out the average unarmored bandit, but if they're wearing a helm, that armor will offer them some protection, potentially completely minimizing the headshot bonus if it's a closed heavy metal helm. And the Art of Archery doesn't just affect NPCs, it can also affect creatures, and even the player character (if that option is enabled), making battles with marksmen especially more dangerous.
In addition, we're also showcasing Animated Arrow Denocker by Petethegoat, a handy little quality-of-life mod that allows you to denock your arrows, with animations in both first and third person, so you no longer have to shoot your arrow after notching it.
Combined these two mods provide a major enhancement to Morrowind's archery mechanics, and if you're a fan of the marksman skill, they're pretty much must-haves!
