Some things that could be added to the mod to make it more immersive:
1st the possibility to choose the type of conversion, example: I have copper coins and I want to choose if I can convert them into gold coins only, or only into silver coins, if I had silver coins, I could convert them into gold coins or copper Or if I had gold coins I could just convert them into copper or silver coins.
2nd It must be possible to convert the currencies with more People, such as merchants, empire members, hlaalu house members
3rd the coins could have weight, like copper 0.01 silver 0.02 gold 0.05 (perhaps optional)
Abot is correct on this, it works fine if you pick up and drop gold, but when you use it to pay for repairs for example, you will pay the merchant, but the gold does not register as being removed from inventory. Therefore you slowly accrue "phantom" encumberance.
I think manauser's goldweight mod is the only real working mod of this type - http://hostx.me/morrowind/
Current situation for Morrowind.exe AFAIK Note that this is a well known glitch so various workarounds have been found in the years. ManaUser's brilliant mod fixes it using another engine glitch and items with negative weight to fix encumbrance. In my experience it works great IF you don't have the Morrowind Code Patch option "RemoveItem weight fix" enabled, but probably 90% of users of MCP will have it enabled so... "id": 160, "brief": "RemoveItem weight fix", "description": "The RemoveItem command would always reduce encumbrance by (specified quantity * object weight), no matter how many objects actually existed in the inventory. This could lead to encumbrance errors if a script did not set the quantity correctly. This fixes RemoveItem and Drop commands to reduce encumbrance correctly."
Current state of the art solution to give gold weight to Morrowind.exe IMO is to affect player encumbrance directly from MWSE-Lua or add a burden spell from MWSE Some mods doing it changing player encumbrance (suggested if you can run MWSE-Lua) or using MWSE + Burden effect Worth its Weight Gold Weight
I really do appreciate these comments, although with OpenMW the phantom weight has already been resolved. I have removed the gold weight from the mod, and I just recommend using a gold weight mod that works with your mod builds, whether thats via MWSE or OpenMW.
Another one. Please stop changing gold weight like this, it will cause player encumbrance problems. If something apparently simple is not yet done in the most straightforward way in 20 years old moddable game, there is a reason usually. Ask before.
Some people want an extra bit of difficulty and immersion. It may not be to your tastes but not everybody likes chocolate. No one's forcing you to use mods that are not to your liking, at least I hope they aren't.
You don't understand. I'm not obviously using a mod I know will bug out my game, I'm telling this to help author avoid bugging the game of other people for something author have not yet realized/verified. Morrowind.exe engine bugs out if you change weight of Gold_001 MISC item. In the long run player encumbrance will have wrong values as the gold unit weight is not properly tracked by the engine when you add/remove gold. Maybe OpenMW has this thing fixed from the start. but AFAIK it is not yet fixed by some Morrowind Code Patch/MWSE option for standard engine.
Ah, I see. Well if that is the case then nevermind what I said. I thought by your choice of words you were just being cruel when in reality you were only trying to help. Sorry for the inconvenience then.
I thought I had tagged this mod as OpenMW only, precisely because of the weight issue. After discussions about the issue with another gold weight author, OpenMW is rrquired.
