Are you a hero or a villain? Or somewhere in the middle? You (or your character) may have an opinion about that. But does that opinion align with the opinion of the people of Morrowind? With this mod, you will be able to keep track of that. Will your name be feared and cursed, or praised and loved by them? Will they regard you a hero or a villain?

In vanilla Morrowind, the reputation system only keeps track of the amount of your renown in the world. The higher the number is, the more famous you are. However, the system does not differentiate between being famous and infamous. The number would simply increase regardless of the act's nature. This mod changes that. Some acts will earn the gratitude of the people, others will make them fear your name. Depending on your character's choices, you can end up being famous, infamous, or somewhere in the middle.

Let's see a couple of examples of how this works. Killing Dagoth Ur would always make you more famous and make the people grateful, but stealing the skull of Llevule Andrano (which also gives you a reputation point) would rather make you infamous, and strike fear into the hearts of the people.

There are also numerous quests that have multiple ways of completing them. The vanilla quest titled Ebony Trade, by House Hlaalu, gave you a reputation point, regardless of the way you solved the quest. One way of solving the quest was convincing the East Empire Company to buy ebony from House Hlaalu instead of House Redoran. Another way was disrupting the ebony mine of House Redoran by killing the person in charge. In this mod, you still receive the reputation point for both solutions, but depending on your choice, the kind of reputation will differ: if you do the diplomatic option only, you will be more famous. If you (also, or only) resort to bloodshed, it will make you more infamous.

And of course, there are also quests that give you a reputation point, but would not influence your fame/infamy stance. For example, Gathering Netch Leather for the Imperial Cult, which, for whatever reason, increased your reputation in Morrowind in vanilla. To conform to the vision of the developers, you still receive a reputation point for that quest, but it will not influence whether the people would praise or curse your name for this act, as it's something that they are indifferent towards.

To begin:

After chargen, talk with Sellus Gravius about your "duties." This would immediately add you into this mod's Reputation System, with a neutral rank. After this, you will be free to complete quests in the game and become famous, infamous, or somewhere in the middle, based on your decisions.

Q: I have an alternative chargen mod/I'm in the middle of the playthrough so I cannot really talk about my duties with Sellus Gravius anymore/there is some other reason I cannot talk with Sellus Gravius!

A: Don't you worry about a thing. Find a coin at the edge of the table next to Sellus Gravius and activate it. It will add you into the Reputation System with a neutral rank. It's a bonus way of triggering the necessary script and adding the PC into the Reputation System of this mod, for people who cannot talk with Sellus Gravius for whatever reason, so I trust that you won't abuse it by repeatedly activating it.
