Changelogs
Two unusual towers peak above the horizon in the far northeast of Vvardenfell's Ashlands. They are called Bal'laku - the Stone of the Urshilaku - by the Ashlanders who have long inhabited them, but they have had many names throughout the ages and there is great debate as to the origin of the towers. Imperial scholars who have observed the structure believe it to be the fossilized claw of an ancient animal from the Merethic Era, albeit one of an immense size. The Tribunal Temple maintains that they are the fingertips of an ancient beast spawned forth by Molag Bal and slain by Vivec in mythic times. And the Ashlanders who are now the stewards of these incredible towers claim that upon the death of Nerevar, they arose out of the ash by the will of Azura, as a monument to her rage. One tower represents her curse upon the Tribunal, and the other represents her will and prophecy that the return of Nerevar is inevitable, and that he shall set Resdayn free. We may never know the truth of these matters and yet the towers stand still - a true marvel to behold for any travelers who wish to brave the perils of Vvardenfell's wastes.

Made for the May Modathon 2022.

This mod adds two towers to the northeastern ashlands, using resources from The Hive - an unfinished beta from the Resdayn Revival Team.

As of Version 2, this mod has been completely remade. It has been redesigned to better fit in thematically and stylistically with the mod: Tales from the Ashlands - The Great Hive Baan Binif by RandomPal and The Hive Mind team. While being redesigned around Baan Binif, Bal'laku still maintains its own distinct identity and can be played with or without Baan Binif. Aside from the changes to the towers themselves, there are two more major additions with Version 2. Bal'laku - The Lonely Towers now includes a landscape overhaul for a large chunk of the northern ashlands - roughly the area between Ebernanit in the west, and Bthuand in the east. The landscape overhaul has been achieved with zero edits to the height map to maintain maximum compatibility with other mods. The other major addition is a new NPC at the towers who has a lot of unique dialogue as well a short questline that partially ties into the main quest. This questline also expands a bit upon the lore surrounding a minor character from vanilla Morrowind.

There is also a new book about the towers (using the lore write-up from the mod description) that can be found in a couple places around Vvardenfell.

Recommended Mods:

Tales from the Ashlands - The Great Hive Baan Binif by The Hive Mind

Note: If using Baan Binif and Bal'laku together make sure to load Bal'laku before Baan Binif. This is necessary because Baan Binif renames an exterior cell, and Bal'laku will revert the change if loaded after Baan Binif.

Compatibility:

In addition to Baan Binif, Bal'laku is compatible with many popular mods that make edits to the ashlands, including but not limited to:
