Firearms in the Third Era
by FrummYonda & Webley1

This mod is an ongoing project to see how much I can make fantasy-ish firearms by using bits and pieces of Morrowind's base assets. More firearm weapons will be released in future installments. Please look forward to further updates.

CURRENTLY AVAILABLE WEAPONS

Pepperbox Pistol
Spoiler:
Show

Based on the design of Percy de Rolo's Pepperbox Pistol from The Legend of Vox Machina series, this is the first firearm model created for this mod. To get it (and its accessories), buy the Pepperbox Pistol Case at Arrille's Tradehouse and use it.

The Pepperbox comes in two versions:
  • Pepperbox-Vanilla.esp: functions like any normal Marksman-Crossbow weapon and Bolt ammo, sans the sound effect.
  • Pepperbox+Speedloader.esp: this version is more of an self-imposed challenge when playing. Please see the following sections below for more details.

Ammo and Ammo Pouch Crafting

Ammo can be crafted from Scrap Metal and Raw Ebony by using the Crucible Kit. Just drop the Crucible Kit on a surface and activate it (be sure you have the Ammo Molding Tools Misc. item in your inventory) to start forging.
In the Vanilla version, the Crucible Kit makes Dwarven Shots and Ebony Shots respectively, and these can be equipped and be used like any Bolt ammo. In the Speedloader version, however...

Ammo Pouches + Speedloader

In this version, the Crucible Kit instead makes Ammo Pouches, which are Misc. items and can't be directly equipped and be used as ammo.
You will need to equip a Speedloader, a Clothing-Amulet item that comes with the Pepperbox Pistol, to convert these Ammo Pouches into its respective Ammo. It also comes in two versions: Speedloader: Dwarven Shots and Speedloader: Ebony Shots, which you can change by dropping the item, picking it up again, and choosing which type of Ammo you want to load.

The latter item was inspired by this little scene from the Vox Machina series, where it shows just how a six-barrel pistol can be fully reloaded in the space of a single action.

Steel and Imperial Rifles
Spoiler:
Show

Based on the Imperial and Steel Rifle designs of Enroys' Lore Friendly Guns of Skyrim mod, this is the second set of firearm models for this mod series. To get these weapons, ask for the latest rumors around Ebonheart and Pelagiad respectively.

Ammo  Crafting

Ammo can be crafted from Scrap Metal and Raw Ebony by using the Crucible Kit. Just drop the Crucible Kit on a surface and activate it (be sure you have the Ammo Molding Tools Misc. item in your inventory) to start forging.
Bonus: You can also ask certain NPCs such as Frald the White, Sirollus Saccus, and Ervona Barys who each have respective dialogues about these weapons.

Dwarven Arquebus Arm
Spoiler:
Show

Based on the literal arm cannon of Elder Scrolls Online's Dwarven Arquebus, this is one of the lore-friendly-ish Firearm models for this mod series. To get this weapon, go to the new dungeon somewhere inside the Nchuleft Dwemer Ruin and take it from the unique Centurion Archer waiting down there.

Notes:
  • This thing needs at least 50 Magicka to fire. So, be sure to pack some Restore Magicka potions.
  • Use only one copy of this weapon in-game. Duplicating it and having more than one instance of it within the same cell causes some issues. Will look into this eventually.

INSTALLATION
Simply copy-paste the Data Files into the Morrowind directory, or use a mod manager to install the mod.
  • For the Pepperbox Pistol, use only one .esp file.
  • For the Steel and Imperial Rifles, just install the one.

FUTURE UPDATES
For Pepperbox Pistol
  • updated ammo-making script
  • improved Weapon Sheath mesh
For Steel and Imperial Rifles
  • Weapon Sheath meshes for both rifles
  • exclusive custom-ammo-use script
For Dwarven Arquebus Arm
  • updating the ammo script
  • Weapon Sheath mesh

CREDITS
  • Phijama, for originally making some early firearm mods for Morrowind;
  • Aftershock_81, for making a Flintlock weapon (based on Phijama's earlier work) and an ammo-crafting tool (whose script I borrowed);
  • Danae23, using Aftershock_81's Flintlock in her Indie Gear mod, where I discovered the previous two's work;
  • MightyJoeYoung, for the stock and trigger mechanism parts of the gun;
  • Webley1, for the script used for the Speedloader and the gunshot SFX;
  • Merlord, whose scripts from his other mods I had to review and copy to make up my own;
  • FishermanZeddy, for betatesting an earlier build;
  • Enroy, for making the "lore-friendly" rifles out of Skyrim's base assets;
  • whoever thought that a Dwarven Arquebus were a good idea;
  • and the cast of Critical Role, for being such dorks...
