Can't figure out how to install new map packages. I don't have a .json File. I just have a lua file, and absolutely no experience with Bethesda modding. Really a great mod, but a little easier installation instructions would be appreciated.

I got it! I had the issue that there was a masterfile in my mod manager which was activated. This seems to have overridden the config. In the mod description it explicitly says that no esp or masterfile is needed. So I would always install Map and Compass manually as stated in the description.
Its the vvardefell map its included with the mod i'm pretty sure, go to the mod config menu and go to this mod and it should be in the wagner map tab. you have to enable it and then swap to it in your in game map screen.
I installed the mod and it works fine, looks stunning and very detailed especially with the wagner map pack, but it seems my location marker (the position where i am currently located on the map) is not shown or disappears on the map. If I switch to vanilla map in the drop down menu it appears again, but not on the wagner map. Is this intended or part of the mod or just an adjustment I need to do? Thx.
Multiple people have asked if it works with TR and the mod creator just says that there are versions with TR but offers no location of where they are. Useless.
It works fine with TR out of the box. This mod isn't a map replacer, it adds EXTRA images to your map menu (paper maps), you can switch to them via a dropdown menu and add custom notes to them (ctrl, left click) but they don't have a magic compass pointing where you are. You still have access to the original world and local map which have the marker and will show the TR landmass. You can also take a look at the requirements tab to see other mods that rely on this one to find all the map packs available for it, some may have paper TR maps included.
Anyone know where to find the paper map shown in the user images? The one that came packaged with Morrowind back in the day. Ah, wait. I see what the issue was. There's two maps that default to the name "Vvardenfell". The entirely featureless one (the purpose of which is beyond me) and the old physical paper map. The former overwrites the latter if they're both enabled.
The featureless one, it's for those (like me) who want to leave their own notes/set up their own map markers as they adventure. hold CTRL and click a spot on the map to create a note/marker.
Also not sure what the difference is with your game, but I just get 2 Vvardenfel entries in the dropdown menu, I can access both the paper map and blank map.

What's the point of using it if it doesn't show location markers and your location

This one has all the maps you could need from what I can see, for not only TR but also Cyrodil, Skyrim, etc
