Interesting mod! Does this work with Key Replacers? Like Dadukes?

The MWSE version should work just fine with them. If the key replacer just changes the mesh and icon of keys there would be no conflict. If it also changes names or weight/value those changes would be overridden by this mod.

The plugin version would conflict, but tes3merge should solve that.

Oh no full MWSE all the way! I really really wish all mods were mwse based, my mod list is too bloated. Will give it a try and report if anything goes wrong haha. Love your mods! so useful! Please keep making MWSE ones!

Ok mod is 99% perfect except for some unforeseen compatibility issues with Key Overhaul: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43862?tab=description

Some of the unique names(and hints ) there are lost in translation as the author of that mod dragged all keys off the vanilla files and made previously unobtainable keys that resided in the vanilla .esms available in the world for collection while creating some more that matched slave collar keys for slave locks that did not have them (I am a Twin Lamps Roleplayer) plus giving use to some previously unused keys (like the Alit Den Key), which leads me to this:

Wonder if it would be possible to create blacklists for certain specific keys? Like other mods do that have blacklists for ,esps but here for specific item ids (which you can get easily by hovering in console mode over a key in the ground?

      Might make this mod perfect!

Also besides the blacklists would it be possible to create a general toggle ON/OFF for the mod as well? (its MWSE after all no? sorry, do not know much about scripts) Been playing for the past hour and have needed to toggle several times by simply removing the mod, loading the game again and looking at some keys, a simple in game toggle would make everything easier for this low tech Argonian wanting to have more keys in his game haha.

Just a recommendation of course :)

Yeah any mod that changes the names of keys that exist in the Bethesda esms (whether they're placed in the vanilla game or not) will be overridden. Not sure how to handle that. A blacklist should be possible, or I could just change the name to correspond with the more descriptive name used by the other mod. (That wouldn't matter in a vanilla game since the keys aren't placed in vanilla anyway, but I wouldn't want to do that for keys that are in the game in vanilla.)

Also the mod does its thing as soon as it's initialized on Morrowind startup. I could add an MCM option to turn the mod on/off, but it would still require a restart (it would be a bit easier than uninstalling though).

Hey if you can add an item id blacklist it would be super duper awesomesaucey! even if it only works on restart like the on/off switch.

Up to you! You the awesome coder haha, just wondering if such things are possible :)

If the item id blacklist is not possible, then the switch off button would be great! I am not a choosing beggar!

      Many hugs and cheers!

The new version 2.1 includes a blacklist and an option to disable the mod.

I use The Key Mod by Zobator (https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45489) for its Icons and meshes.
Use the "The Key Mod - No Names.esp" from the download.
and use Consistent Keys for the naming

Yes I use it already as well! Replaced it recently but thanks for the TIP! yay! Love that mod so much! With Key Overhaul on the list , about a dozen new keys (some of them for slave collars ) are created and placed in the world as well, a functionality I have enjoyed for quite some time :)

But with the added Blacklist feature its a non issue now.

Everytime I see a Key that has no description in the tooltips I blacklist it and it bring the hint/original name of Key Overhaul , which is 100% gorgeous! Honestly another perfect mod for my MWSE modlist, which is growing everyday! :)

      So Zobator+Key Overhaul+Consistent Keys= Key Heaven!

I use the plugin version. Good to see LUA version, means freeing up another ESP slot. Thanks!

As an aside, and I imagine nothing has changed between the plugin version and the LUA version, it serves as a resource for modders to "learn" how to port a plugin to LUA.

This kind of mod, which just makes changes to base game items, is easy to port to lua. I did the same thing with Book Jackets, which just changes the book objects. Some other kinds of mods really can't be done in MWSE-lua at this time, unfortunately.

And yeah in terms of what the player sees it's exactly the same as the plugin version, except the option related to Shashev's Key in the MCM.

Neat little mod. I’ll give a try next time I’m at my PC. Thanks for sharing!
