I so need this lol. I taunted the slave seller in Tel aruhn, then she picked a fight with a guard and got ganged on by a bonewalker and some bowman, perfect. Now she is dead and I am screwed
Might I request a Lite version that simply displays an essential NPC's name in bold print so you know who's safe to kill? Normally I don't approve of PC clairvoyance, but that happens anyway with the "Weave of Fate" message, and it's still more immersive than reloading a save or NPC immortality.
I would also suggest using the bold method on Main Quest items so you don't accidentally sell them if you happen to pick them up before starting their quests.
As for items needed for side quests: perhaps display their names in italics instead of bold print? Side quest NPCs I'd probably leave alone, since those would involve italics for like half the population.
You might try the options in Essential Indicators instead of this mod. It has all of the functionality you mentioned; it is configurable from the MCM screen. You could set the cursor to warn you if you're targeting an "essential" character, but still leave that character vulnerable to attack/death. It should be noted that some of the "essential" characters in vanilla Morrowind are invincible by default, and only a mod makes them killable in the first place.

Thank you.
