Heyo, one idea to prevent ReShade from making the journal really bright (seen as it also affects the UI) would be to for example bind the ReShade toggle for on/off to the same button you use to open/close your journal. The journal would open, ReShade would turn off, then if you hit the button again, it'd close the journal and ReShade would be enabled again. Only thing I can come up with to work around this.
There's some ways to create masks and there is some magical scripting for other games where people got ReShade not touch any UI elements at all but I'm not a shader scripting guy and I'm clueless. lol
The Home button does not do anything, I even went to Reshade and checked to make sure that the key was properly mapped in my reshade.ini and it is but when I hit the home button in game nothing happens and the reshade does not activate.
EDIT: Ok I figured out sorry to bother you, I used the Wabbajack modlist You're Just a N'Wah and it uses a different install folder than the vanilla steam location and so I was directing reshader to the wrong folder. My own stupidity, thanks again this reshade looks AMAZING! Time to live in Vvardenfell again for a while.
Spent all day browsing and trying shader presets and this is the one I've settle on. It's gorgeous; looks like the one used on FudgeMuppet's videos for their Morrowind clips.
I'm using OpenMW 0.47, btw. Can't report any incompatibilities which makes sense; OpenGL is (generally) just OpenGL.
Trying to download this with OpenMW .47 but I am having issues. I downloaded reshade with only standard shaders and picked the direct3d 9 option and nothing happens when I hit home button. I picked the the OpenGL option and ran the game on administrator and I see the reshade menus when I hit home but my game still looks the same :(
the only problem for me is that books, scrolls etc. look way to bright. i found out that the "ambient light" module from reshade just overexposes the whole scroll/book, which makes reading very unpleasant. i turned down the ambient light module strength to around 5 instead of your original 12.5. it's still not optimal but overall an improvement.
is there anyway to exclude UI elements from being affected by reshade? there seems to be some modules in the reshade conig menu for UI but i couldn't find out what they do or how they work. If anyone has any info how we might be able to exlude the menu, journal and book windows from being processed while keeping everthing else intact, let me know.
Hello, this is a late reply but I forgot I made this. Unfortunately, ReShade draws over the UI. There's some ways to mask it but I don't know about shader scripting. What you could do is bind the on/off toggle for ReShade to the button you use for the journal. Imagine it's key "ALT." You press ALT, journal opens and ReShade is turned off. Then you hit ALT again and it closes the journal and it re-enables ReShade. Only Idea I have.
Heyo, I'll update the description to make it more clear. First, get rid of the Reshade files. Then, in the installer, select DX9 and it'll tell you that it's an old game, right? Just click on yes and it'll do everything on its own. I'll make an image tutorial now. Give me a bit. :)
All this is right, all fits, but my game still crashes at the launch (the Bethesda logo doesn't even have time to be displayed). Do you use MGE or MGE XE ?
Yeah, I'm using MGE XE. A video tutorial is uploading right now. I'll link it on here. Check in 2-3 minutes. It should work just fine. Though, I should mention that I'm using the Steam version. Not the OpenMorrowind version or any of that. It's just Morrowind Code Patcher, MGE XE and some normal mods. Edit: MGE XE doesn't have any options that would be incompatible that I can think of. Edit 2: Here, it finished uploading. Haha https://youtu.be/CyzLPMlfYKg
OpenMW is not compatible with MGE XE (and MGE (XE) is necessary for the Reshade, well, it seems to me, it says here: https://reshade.me/compatibility ).
I watched the video, and I followed everything the same way. But my game closes immediately after opening. Does Reshade consider me a N'wah? :(
That actually makes sense. It's working on my end because of MGE XE. I just saw that it has the .DLL file needed inside of it. I'll update the description and remove the video since it has misinformation. If you don't plan on using MGE XE, I'd recommend you get the .DLL file from that and drag it into your Morrowind main folder. It should work.
Ah, here. Use this first. https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9/releases I found it. Drag this in there and proceed as usual with the installation. It's the official Reshade d3d8to9 .dll file.

Tip: Just remember to install it in the OpenMW folder and use OpenGl which the newest Reshade (5.2.1) automaticly suggest.

After install Reshade, my game crash on launch :/
When installing Reshade, should we select DX9 or DX10? (after the DX8 warning)
