Good day, all. l1lartur0, thank you for the useful improvement to the MWorld. I have discovered and verified this: on OMW 0.48, with BCoM and CO, in Balmora, a copy of The Razor Hole door appears on the over-walk above the correct door's spot.
In OpenMW 0.46, with Tribunal, Bloodmoon and Patch for Purists 4.0.2, this patch causes me to fall into the endless void when entering Morvayn Manor in Ald'Ruhn.
Hmm... that's odd. Could have sworn that I checked whether it worked if installed mid-game. I'll take a look at it this weekend and see if there are any other variables at play or if I just failed to check/notice the mod not working on a non-new playthrough. Thanks for the heads up!
Hey, FRABBlT! I did a run-through with a game that was created without Container Ownership and then installed the mod to the game. Container Ownership seems to work if installed mid-game. I'm guessing what may have happened in your experience was, for example, if you had installed Container Ownership to a game which you were a member of House Hlaalu: taking items from the containers in Balmora, the Hlaalu Canton in Vivec, etc. will not count as stealing from them because they are tagged as being owned by the Hlaalu faction. Containers on the fort grounds and many in/on Imperial settlements are tagged as owned by the Legion, so if you're a member of the Legion you can access them without the items taken being marked as stolen. Same for the other factions, as well.
I guess one could view the ability to freely take items in a territory under control of the faction(s) you've joined as a perk of membership. Understandably, that might seem a bit "meh", so you may want to give Half11's Container Ownership mod ( which can be found on his Misc. Mods page ) a go, which could very well be more nuanced in how he assigned the ownership tags than mine (haven't used his mod, so I don't know; If curious, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you asked him how the containers were tagged).
Hopefully, at least some of this info was helpful! Please let me know if the issue still persists, and we'll go from there. Thanks!
Hi l1lartur0. I tested this with a savegame where I was a member of the blades and the thiefsguild. I used OpenMW 0.45.0 you too? Maybe that causes the different results, but I will test it again with both versions later the day.
Ok so I tested it with both OpenMW versions again and it is the same, but I tested different characters this time and it seems that only the chara that I play with got this problem and that is the only one that run several mods (the other ones are for testing only), so maybe theres a conflict somewhere. But even without all this mods loading and loading only tb,bm and your mod it does not work with this chara.
Well, dang! Should we just chalk it up to a Bethesda game being a Bethesda game?
I use the OpenMW nightlies but also tested on 0.45 and the vanilla engine, and still no dice for me to reproduce the issue. Just to err on the side of caution, I'll go ahead and add a recommendation to not install mid-game. Thanks again, and have fun!
Originally made it for personal use with no intention to upload it, figuring there was already at least one mod out there which does the same thing as this one. Believe MW Rebirth covers the container ownership issue but Rebirth really isn't my cuppa.
ADDENDUM: Getting ready to test Container Ownership with Earn Your Keep, just to see if load order matters and to double-check that both play nice with each other (can't imagine why they wouldn't but nevertheless).
ADDENDUM to the ADDENDUM: Results... Unfortunately, my mod undoes what Denina's mod does. Players will need to choose one mod or the other. Both are viable solutions to curbing the easy access of free crap in the containers found outdoors... just down to personal preference on how one wants to go about solving it (obviously).
