I've tried installing this texture pack, but I'm not sure if it's working. I can't see any difference between the current graphics and the pre-mod graphics. At all. However, OpenMW doesn't give me any error messages.
Might I have done something wrong when installing? I just copied all the files from the /Textures folder in the downloaded ZIP file into my /Textures folder in /Data Files, but I was confused and dismayed because Win7 didn't tell me anything about overwriting existing files. This hinted to me that something might be wrong...
Is there a way to verify whether this texture pack has been correctly installed?
You wouldn't get any dialogue warnings from your file explorer if you haven't previously installed other texture replacers that override the same files. That textures directory in Data Files is just for add-ons & mods, the vanilla texture files are stored in .bsa archives along with the other OG assets. Since OpenMW has some other prerequisite for enabling normal maps, like how you need to edit the cfg file could be useful to check over mod installation tips on their site, maybe something you missed. Perhaps you could try another texture replacer, without normals (or the non-normal mapped version of this mod) to see if they show up. Good luck in any case.
Originally, you should've had A "textures" folder in your data files folder to begin with. you need to remove any other texture packs for terrain before installing this one.
For some reason the terrain textures worked for me, but the armor/clothes doesn't look any different. I'm on OpenMW and enabled the settings listed in the description, but no clothes or armor changes when I apply and remove the armor file.
Edit: It was a problem at my end, fixed it a while ago. The Purist addition of my mod was crucial to me on my lower end PC since I wanted to improve the worst textures without tanking the FPS or anything.
I fixed it. Just don't copy "_land_default.dds" This texture causes bug to ingame map. This problem was described in the Morrowind Code patch in the map-texture conflict fix: "The world map would become non-functional if you replaced the texture "_land_default.dds?" with a texture of a different size, displaying a blank or cropped map instead. This was due to the use of that texture to set the scale of the world map panel."
I have the same problem. With mine the map is zoomed in way too much, and it displays my caracter as being in solstheim dispite the fact that I am really in vvardenfell. I do not know how to post a picture on this thing, otherwise I would. It's probably worth noting that I have the tamriel unlimited mod installed.

These textures are extremely well done! I was going through numerous packs trying to pick out the best textures for each terrain, creating my own compilation, and then I accidentally enabled yours afterwards (thinking it was just the armor retextures), and I was blown away by how beautiful and natural these looked. They were even nicer than the "best of the best" I'd assembled for my compilation!
I did stumble onto a slight problem with the pack, however. The textures: tx_rock_diamond_01.dds tx_rock_ebony_01.dds tx_rock_glass_01.dds are showing the normal maps instead of the diffuse map. This causes the rock textures for the raw resources in the mines to look blue and purple instead of like the rocks that they are supposed to be. Deleting those three files causes the game to revert back to the vanilla textures, but they looked a little out of place with your much nicer textures on the surrounding mine, so I copied one of your cave rock diffuse maps and renamed the copies to replace these files and it looks pretty good. :)
>Specular maps on top of normalmaps could look much better if they were rendered a bit differently in openMW. This is not a bug, but specular maps look a lot better without normalmaps so there is some potential for improvement here.
Hi Nico, I just wanted to report that there was an issue with the way OpenMW handled specular shininess that was fixed couple months ago. You may want to re-examine and play around with specular maps again now that it's been changed. I've done some testing myself and results are very promising.
Hi NicoGD, Thanks for your work! Could you perhaps upload a file that contains only these textures and their normal maps? There are no better replacers for these textures that stay so close to the origional design, providing them as a seperate download really helps getting the mod ordering right.
As I don't think those textures are part of the main file, I'm guessing you're using my re-calibrated version. Included with that are a few textures made my other modders. These banners where actually made by lysol for his Vivec mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44259
The normal maps look great with other diffuse maps too like vanilla or Morrowind Enhanced. lysol's textures are open permissions, so can be used how people like as long as it is for Morrowind.
I would like to continue my work on my re-calibration of VP on it's own page somewhere in the future although it may have to be just the normals and specs, depending on what NicoGD says.

1. For OpenMW _land_default.dds, is not an issue.
2. For Vanilla Morrowind : Use MCP with the "Map-texture conflict fix" option enabled.
Picture would be nice to see.
