First you have to download [HAM Skar (Classic) 4096x textures] from Morrowind Modding History (http://mw.modhistory.com/download-56-6854). Then unzip and copy just Meshes folder. Paste in to your Morrowind/Data Files directory. After this unzip Skar mega textures and copy Textures folder. Paste also in to Morrowind/Data Files directory. That's all. You can now delete tx_ar_outeredge_01 from your Morrowind/Data Files/Textures directory because this one is not needed.
I see the file is now apparently reuploaded, unfortunately the .xml error persists... Anyone successfully able to download the file and mail it or something??

I need some help. Skar looks all white with black lines. I installed HAM Skar (Classic), then i copied your textures and overwrite, but something's wrong.
Try to regenerate distant land again. Also, you have to be aware about ridiculous textures sizes (3x 16k...). Yesterday I had the same situation. After internet surfing and some work with GIMP while texture folders and some images were opened. My cheap notebook have 840M with 2GB VRAM. I'm using 2K landscape / architecture, skies in 8K. So there is probably lack of VRAM. After Windows restart there was no problem at all in game. However I saw strange issue in my NVIDIA control panel. GPU power management mode was set to "Optimal power". It was switched from "Prefer maximum performance" without my knowledge (magic?). So try reboot, try 8K version and so on. I don't know nothing about your hardware but big texture size and format = VRAM consumption.
And remember about HAM folder. This have to be extra folder in your Data Files/Textures folder. Inside HAM folder three exterior Skar textures are placed.
Sorry it took me that much time to write a reply. I haven' t been playing Morrowind for quite some time. I tried your mod now and it worked perfectly (even without MGE XE) in 16k. Don' t know why it didn' t work before. Thanks for the reply!
How did you get in touch with Connary to get the OK to redo his textures? I'm stunned he would let you mess with them as he was pretty headstrong about that sort of thing.
You can't get in touch with Connary. Last information about him I've found on reddit was about his plans for retex entire Morrowind. In the same way "Taddeus On the Rocks with normal maps for OpenMW" was published here without possibility to make contact with Taddeus - because he's gone. Latest upscaled HD vanilla textures are Bethesda's property, but no one is making money on them.
If Connary would let me know that he don't want those textures here then situation is clear. I spent many, many hours to make those and have a hope that he will be able to enjoy them some day. Btw. I'm not looking for fake fame, everyone knows who is original designer. I'm not hiding that situation is "unclear", but desire to share with others was stronger.
Heya! I think you forgot to add the textures from the second screenshot (the dark colored edge of the top part of the shell) into the archive, great work though! :)
I don't know what are you talking about. To use those textures you have to download HD architecture mesh for Skar shell made by Colt17 available here: http://mw.modhistory.com/download-56-6854 and replace his _HAM folder with my _HAM folder. One texture tx_ar_outeredge_01 was not included in my mod because It's not used by interior cell. Hope I was able to help.

Like I said, it just seemed that the files didn't match... but I'm still new to Morrowind modding so what do I know? :P
