Hi. Thanks for this mod. I'm using it in Starwind because it is listed in the OpenMW Starwind-modlist and I feel like it's unbalanced. But thanks to the info you provided, editing the values was very easy.

    Here is what I've changed:

    Movement speed changes

    • fBaseRunMultiplier = 1.95 (from 3; 2 in Starwind)
    • fEncumberedMoveEffect = 0.25 (from 0.4; 0.3 in Starwind)
    • Reason: To me, the CarryOn approach is compeletely backwards when it comes to movement speed and breaks balance. Strength characters are godlike, which becomes apparent in some enemies very very quickly (ever seen a Gammorrean run at lightspeed?). So, my approach is to make a 50% encumbered character now - considering the increased carry capacity - run at roughly 10% higher speed than a 75% encumbered character in base Starwind.

    Fatigue effect change

    • fFatigueMult = 0.5 (from 0.75; 0.5 in Starwind)
    • Reason: I find the 75% reduction from CarryOn ridiculous. So I reverted back to Vanilla.

    Fatigue cost changes

I considered using "Better Fatigue Usage" as well and played around with it a little bit. The fatigue cost of heavy swings is roughly 3x as high, while a medium attack has compareable cost (maybe 50% higher). But quick/spam attacks don't cost any fatigue, which results in certain builds to be overpowered to a hilarious degree. So I chose to not use that mod.

Therefore, I made similar changes in combination with a decrease in fatigue regen.

    • fFatigueRunBase = 1.85 (from 3.09; 1 in Starwind)
    • fFatigueRunMult = 0.6 (from 0.09; 2 in Starwind)
    • fFatigueReturnBase = 2 (from 3 in Starwind)
    • fFatigueReturnMult = 0.013 (from 0.02 in Starwind)
    • fWeapon FatigueMult = 0.4 (from 0.25 in Starwind, or 1 in BetterFatigueUsage)
    • fFatigueAttackBase = 1.5 (from 2 in Starwind, or 0 in BetterFatigueUsage)
    • Reason: CarryOn went too far with their values. The tweak however made encumberance a non-factor. I want a middle-ground, where a normal character regenerates a little bit of fatigue at 50% encumberance. I also nerfed fatigue regen by 1/3 and tried to make both quick and full swings similarly efficient, instead of going one way or the other.

Anyways, thanks again for your tweak. I just felt like sharing my "retweaks", in case anybody else uses this mod and feels like combat turned awfully hectic and fatigue somehow became a non-factor.

Thanks so much for the detailed comment and for sharing your changes! I'd really like to try it with your changes sometime though, or maybe even take it out of the Starwind list if it doesn't fit well. You're right, the superfast Gammorrean is very jarring!

I decided to upload my "retweaks" by the way, with a few additional changes. (swimming in the ocean of Manaan was painful, even with consumables) Planning a Morrowind playthrough soon and I will try those values out there, too.

In the early- and mid-game, I am happy with my tweaked settings. The only thing I don't like is the weapon weight balance. It seems that Morrowind's fatigue system depends a lot on the weight of the weapon and, in general, stronger weapons are A LOT heavier. But in Starwind, the very best weapons seem to be among the lightest in the game. So it might even need a weapon weight rebalance to really fix the issues I have with fatigue balance.

Awesome, thanks for sharing your retweaks! I've already installed that into my own setup and am looking forward to trying it with Starwind and Morrowind!

How do I get this to work when changing the initial Carry On mod to an esp? This mod keeps looking for an omwaddon and will not work regardless of the fact that the Carry On mod is installed and working fine. Thanks in advance for any help.

"CarryOn.omwaddon" is a master for this mod so it's required with that specific file name.

You could convert it to text with a tool like Delta Plugin (https://modding-openmw.com/mods/delta-plugin/), change the master to "CarryOn.esp", then convert it back to a plugin.

these are definite improvements for me but if I was  curious to play around with the fBaseRunMultiplier, what program can I  use to open an omwaddon file and edit it? I've looked all over and can't seem to find the information. thank you

You can edit them with OpenMW-CS, that's how I made this one.
