    Also for posterity: for those who don't want the changes to sound effects like drawing weapons, it *looks* like it should be fairly easy to revert those with the Construction Set and some elbow grease.

    1) Back up the file
    2) Open it in the Construction Set (https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/42196)
    3) Click the speaker icon to load Sounds
    4) Click "Volume" to sort by (of all things) volume
    5) Scroll to the top or bottom of the list, whichever end has the sounds set below 100% (1.0) volume
    6) Change the volume of the following items (pressing OK will close the window, but you don't need to click OK to get it to accept the new volume):
    item lockpick up/down, item probe up/down, book page, book page2 -> 0.7
    miss, book open/close -> 0.8
    all Swish sounds, all other Item sounds, scroll, repair, repair fail, all Door sounds, open/close lock, all Armor Hit sounds, health damage, critical damage, Disarm Trap, Pack, swallow, skillraise, chest open/close, conjuration spell, spell failure conjuration -> 1.0

    There're probably one or two files I missed, and there are a few more that got changed but are ambient noises so should probably be left alone to mesh with the rest of the mod. Don't go yelling at Piratelord if you try this and mess it up, just restore from backup and try again (you did back the file up before editing, right?).

    Just wanted to give an update on a new conflict with a mod that just came out, and it is a spectacular one: Almalexia's Chamber Overhaul. The water sound spitting upward is repeated like 50 or more times at once.

    sound: plx_ES_Water (Expanded Sounds.esp)
    reference: T_De_Var_SwimLantWhite01Fl_177 (RPNR_Almalexia_Chamber.ESP)

      Strange. Check if you have a huge replacer for the vanilla sound Sound\Fx\envrn\watr_wave2.wav (which is not changed by this mod), and restore the vanilla file in case.
      It could also be a MWSE-Lua mod replacing the vanilla sound with a huge one

    How would I return the volume of doors/lock picking/equipping a weapon/etc back to normal volume? In a previous comment you mentioned editing or deleting the wav files, but I didn't see anything related those sounds in the folder.

    I love everything about the mod but the reduced volume of those sounds is the one thing keeping me from using it.

    what I looked for is simply something to have something which sounds right when walking in the snow, it sounds like you are working on something hard, especially annoying when sneaking, but sadly this mod does nothing about it, not sure it's possible to change this anyway...

    Would be nice to have a version that didn't lower the audio of some sounds. It starts to make the game feel and sound very inconsistent.

      these are wav files, you can find the annoying one, and either edit it using audacity or simply delete it.

    I really like the new sound effects so far, with the exception of the weather ambient sounds which I find quite obnoxious. Fortunately these can be disabled easily via the INI file.

    Found the bug which causes the bad sound when you start a new game using this mod with a lighting mod. The bug is actually in the basic Morrowind game, but hasn't been fixed in any of the major patches yet.

    The bug is in 'light_com_lantern_02_200_Boat' which has the 'Float' script assigned instead of 'Sign Rotate' - which also makes it move rather oddly - bobbing about instead of swinging. This light is only used in the Imperial Prison Ship, where there are six.

    The problem comes when you use Expanded sounds with a mod that modifies this light without fixing the bug - like TLAD or TLM.

    Expanded sounds assigns a repeating water sound to the Float script AND adds a swinging rope sound to the light. Expanded Sounds corrects the erroneous script on the light, so the mod works fine on its own. When something conflicts and makes the Float script operate on the lights again, you get an overload of sound - a combination of the creaking rope and sloshing water - or whatever your sound set up makes of the cacophany.

    Fixing your load order seems to work for some, so that Expanded sounds comes after TLAD/TLM, but I have found it can still conflict despite this. A patch is required if changing load order doesn't work or you want to keep the lighting change. I have posted one on Morrowind Nexus.

    FYI Rainy weather sounds have the whispering from the ashlands and the ghostfence. REALLY distracting. Otherwise, I love everything else. Going to have to pass though. I personally don't hear whispering when it rains in real life.
