I put off the main quest and only went to Arkngthand in my twenties, and encountered a bunch of steam centurions in the lower levels and not a spider in sight. Even the spectres felt like they had some powerful spells that could actually put a dent in me. How'd that happen? Can this mod make the game so crazy unpredictable? Because I don't feel like it should spawn that stuff in what I honestly should be doing at level 5 at the latest. Or does it still scale the levels to mine?  Because that's specifically what I put this mod in to stop.

Edit: I just opened that locked door at Land's Blood Gallery and had two Centurion Archers immediately firing their shock-bolts at me. They nearly got me, too. Imagine if I'd come here near the start of the game like I was supposed to! It'd be a bloody impossible stonewall, it's what it would be.

Yes, this mod effectively unlevels Morrowind, like Obscuro's Oblivion Overhaul did for Oblivion and Requiem does for Skyrim.  There is still some leveling with this mod, but most of it is removed.  The world no longer revolves around the player.  You have to be prepared to go to bad places.  That means that you may need to hone your skills before advancing certain questlines.

I don't know why it wouldn't be since Open MW is a new game engine (Morrowind.exe) and this mod simply adjusts the leveled lists from Morowind.esm.  I don't believe Open MW alters Morrowind.esm.  But I have no actual experience with Open MW and am no longer actively modding, so I cannot say for sure whether there would be a compatibility issue.

Tried this mod hoping for mostly just harder animals, but having many netches and cliff racers in Seyda Neen is too much and feels out of place.

I did no understand what this mod does exactly, does it allow creatures that spawn at a higher level to do so at a lower level? In that case i would think cliff racers do belong at seyda neen after a time away

Cliff racers still spawn in Seyda Neen, just not in such large numbers.

It should be compatible. The Morrowind XP mod affects how characters level and that should not conflict with Morrowind Releveled, which only edits the leveled lists that generate monsters and loot.

Morrowind Releveled alters leveled lists and from reading the description of Morrowind Hardcore, it appears that mod modifies the same lists. So there will be conflicts.  The two aren't designed to work together. Morrowind Releveled is designed for a mostly vanilla game but with a less leveled world (but not completely unleveled), whereas Morrowind Hardcore is a more comprehensive overhaul.

You could try using an automated patch from something like Wrye Mash or TES3CMD that merges leveled lists but there may still be balance issues using the two mods together since they are designed to edit the same leveled lists but in somewhat different ways.

I just started a new game with this. I haven't done much besides Seyda Neen, but the changes there are nice. Netches, nix hounds and dreugh from the start, some unexpected loot in Adamasartus -- I also got a master pick from the throwing-star girl, and there was a nice enchanted ring, some high-level potions, and some bonemold armor pieces in the crates.

Just to be sure I understand, is there now a random chance for any item from the leveled loot lists to appear in a loot container that was previously leveled? That's what the standard "clutter" crates in Adamasartus looked like. They had a mix of lower and higher level items that normally wouldn't be together at the same player level.

Hey, thanks! Glad you are enjoying it. To answer your question, yes, there is now a random chance for any item from the leveled loot list to appear. For the loot lists, the percentage chance of loot appearing remains the same throughout the game, regardless of your character level. And I tried to skew it so that higher tier items would be more rare than lower tier items depending on where the lists were used. There are some lists that are only used in areas that are difficult to loot, so I made the chances of finding good loot better in those lists than for lists that are used in places like the Balmora crates. Unfortunately, some of the lists are used in both types of places, so compromises had to be made.

The enemy lists are handled a bit differently and the chance of encountering a particular enemy changes somewhat as you level. So, for the enemy lists, the chance gets skewed towards higher level enemies as your character level increases, but there always remains a chance to encounter any enemy that was originally in the list in vanilla at any level.

Thanks for the answer. Sounds good. I noticed that Balmora had pretty much the same crap that it always has. I like the idea that harder areas will have a chance for better loot. I generally enjoy a leveled world, but finding a piece of high-level random loot at a low level is my favorite thing. Happened once in Skyrim with one of the treasure map chests, a daedric greatsword at level 20. That's the kind of thing that will keep me digging into every crate and urn (and poking into caves that, in Morrowind, I really should stay out of until I'm higher level).

So far I am staying out of tombs and far away from shrines. I'm scared of what I might run into. And now I'm wondering why I felt a need to make a famously unforgiving game even harder. But it's fun. I found in my recent first-time high-level playthrough that by the time you run into things like Golden Saints, you're already too tough for them. They're just soul gem fodder. The chance of running into them at a low level gives me the sense of respect for these powerful creatures that they should have.

hmm. Love this mod, but recently I've been wanting to add vn_economy_ItemLists.esp from Economy Fixes v1.0 to my game, to go along with Price Balance. But where this mod also alters item leveled lists, they'd likely conflict without some sort of patch, correct?

There might be a conflict on the items lists. Just load the economy fixes mod after mine so it's changes takes precedence if there is a conflict, and you can get the best of both. You might also want to use a multi-patch.
