| TES: Construction Set fixed for Morrowind Steam GOTY v1.6.1820 and Bethesda.net Launcher |
********************************************************************************************

27.03.2019 : Updated with more informations and explaining the compatibility with Bethesda.net Launcher

This version is a fixed one of the version available here: http://morrowind.nexusmods.com/mods/29388. My fixed version/mod doesn't require the original mod.

This mod, will now works with the official Bloodmoon extension, and the Tribunal one too.
It contains the latest updated TES: Construction Set version from the english Game Of The Year (v1.6.1820).

A hint for beginners: Don't use Nexus Mod Manager or Vortex to install this mod/fix. Because if you do the files will be placed into the wrong directory (into Data Files instead of the Morrowind folder).
They need to be placed in the main Morrowind directory as stated in the .txt file in the archive.

**************
Installation :
**************
You need to go into your Morrowind installation game's folder.

It's absolutely recommended TO NEVER install Morrowind's game in the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder, that's mean DO NOT install Steam or Bethesda.net Launcher here)

Example of Morrowind's location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\
C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda.net Launcher\games\Morrowind\
C:\Games\steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind\
C:\Games\Bethesda.net Launcher\games\Morrowind\

And then copy-paste all the contents of the extracted archive into the Morrowind folder ; and say YES when you will be asked to erase the original files already in the folder.

Then go into Morrowind folder, double-click on the TES Construction Set.exe file to launch the TES Construction Set program. Now go modding ! :p

Some points to remember to be able to use MODs:
-----------------------------------------------

1 - You need to redate the BSA files. Simply running the Morrowind Code Patch (https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/19510?tab=files) once will do this for you.
Or change the BSA's date with this utility: FileDate Changer (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/filedatech.html), you will need to redate Morrowind.bsa to 2001, and the BSA from the expansions to 2002.
Then right-click on the .bsa files (located in Morrowind\Data Files\) and mark them as read-only to lock the dates. Once the dates are locked non-.esm/.esp mods should work.
(If you don't read-only the files then Steam will overwrite the date causing problems in the future).

2 - If you use MGE - MGE XE: You need to disable the Steam Overlay option. Open Steam, right click on the Morrowind game in your list of games, click on Properties, and then uncheck the Enable the Steam Overlay.

3 - Also, to be able to select the TES3 Files in the window Data Files within the "TES Construction Set" you need to double click on them. Only when they are marked with a "X" you can go on by clicking "OK". (thanks 8leshij)

| F.A.Q |
*********
1) "Whenever I open it, it doesn't matter which data files I ask it to load, but it starts giving me a sea of errors such as "cannot find sound file..." "unable to find Region..." "following string is different for topic...", etc. Any idea what's causing this and how I can fix it?

SOLUTION: This is because Tribunal and Bloodmoon added dilogues over dialogue of Morrowind. This is a common harmless error reporting.

Add the line without quotes "Allowyestoall=1" on [General] section in the Morrowind.ini file (who's located into the Morrowind's game folder).
This allow you to skip all those 'harmless' errors by clicking "Cancel" (thanks hollaajith)

2) "When i extracted the files to the morrowind ones on Steam Apps, nothing happened. except for the fact that when i tried to install it, it asks
me to insert a disc of the game but i bought it on steam."

SOLUTION: I was able to fix it by launching the game in the future by using the game's shortcut in it's folder, not opening it from Steam. (thanks Phoenix Risen)

3) "I'm getting a warning. Texture "textures\_default. tga" count 2"

SOLUTION: Just ignore it, it's nothing to worry about.

4) Where or how can i get the textures and meshes of Morrowind game?

SOLUTION: They are contained in the file Morrowind.bsa (Tribunal.bsa and Bloodmoon.bsa for the extensions game files), which you can think of as similar to a .zip file/compressed folder, except that it requires a special program to take them out.
You can use one of these programs to extract the files: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes3Mod:BSAPack (thanks Salaa)

Original words from the author of the fixed mod:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately the GOTY Edition from Steam does not have files for the TES: CS as a
part of the download package. This is assumed to be an oversight on
Valve's part and one that has yet to be addressed.

This package should replace the missing files and allow the use of the TES: CS with
the Steam version of Morrowind Game of the Year Edition.
Warning: You must have the Steam version of the GOTY Edition installed for these files to work correctly.

To install, simply extract the files into:

Steam\Steamapps\Common\Morrowind\

Usually in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Morrowind\ folder.
