I'm only getting one recolour for each monster so far, which is functionally no different to vanilla. I thought it was supposed to randomise the colour, but so far every instance of each monster seems to be the same colour... so now all the Paolomu are mustard yellow instead of pink, for instance.
[Edit]: I tried rebooting the game to see if that changed the colours, but the Rathalos are still Silver, the Paolomu still mustard yellow, and the Odagaron still sorta blueish. Unless I'm misunderstanding something, this mod isn't randomising anything at all. It just swapped out a bunch of monster colours for different ones...
I'll have to redact the endorsement until it gets fixed.
Hello, I wrote the randomizer and supply multiple variations of recolored textures - they do not happen at runtime. You can hotswap the textures while the game is running for more variety.
... I wouldn't say that qualifies as a randomiser any more than a collection of props constitutes a stage show. I don't know which folder corresponds to which creature either... so I wouldn't say I'd have much control over the matter in practice. I do hope you'll look into the runtime changes in future though, as this mod isn't what it says it is without that. Nice work on the recolours though, all the same.
Mod doesn't appear to work for me, I tested it on a Barroth and a Great Jagras and noticed no visible change at all. Installed everything correctly and nothing conflicts, I downloaded the first one
Also, how would this work in multiplayer? would the colors just not apply for other people?
I'm sorry to hear that it isn't working for you. Your nativePC folder should look like this if the files are there and strackers loader needs to be working. Steam→steamapps→common→Monster Hunter World→nativePC→em→ em001 em002 em007...
The colors will not apply to other people in multi - they are loaded from your machine even when you are hosting a quest (at least to my knowledge).
I do! although, is there a way to completely randomize monster colors each time without having to switch out the files? it seems the monsters are indeed different colors but they stay that color unless the file is switched
It would be possible and the way I would do it would be to put all the versions into a folder then set up a tool or script to switch them out whenever you run it. Unfortunately, my whole process of randomly coloring the files would take too long to run on the fly while the game is running.
This mod would be perfect if it just changed the normal colors very slightly. Would make the game feel like each monster is unique without getting too crazy.
I'm working on an update for this mod that will improve the colorization to better match monster features and won't be so crazy. Check back later this week if you're still interested.
