The weaker version is enough for what I want. Finally I can cut tails again with bowguns without having to restock, which is its main purpose tbh. Endorsed.
a lot of complain and whine from people who use slicing as their main ammo. But if it is used as intended (that is, for CUTTING parts) then it does it's job. I want to be able to cut tails with this and now i can without needing to restock. If i want to hit another part I can use another appropiate ammo (normal, spread or pierce) which would be my main build.
The notion that people made builds around slicing ammo was ridiculous and dumb. If there was a way to make slicing only do high dmg to tails it would be best. However, for those of us who use it as intended, I am fine with this mod.
Very well done mod! I tried it out and I am quite enjoying it, this makes another ammo type viable and I am very happy!
Here are my feedback:
I do feel the damage is a bit over tuned. If this is balanced around finishing a hunt without restocking, then it hit the spot correctly. However, if comparing to the meta raw builds(Sticky/spread/pierce/normal), the slicing damage is a BIT high.
Slicing ammo is basically a uncapped sticky ammo. It allows you to play very safe at long range while having the DPS of spread. In my experience, shot by shot, stickys do ~150 dmg capped, spread do ~50*7=350 with my 3x shield builds, and slicing do 50*8 = 400 damage on a similar build (4 pc fatty + 1 KT leg w/ Vor buster).
Second, since slicing do not do shot type damage, it usually have the benefit of hitting higher HZV parts, this will bring the damage of slicing even higher.
Third, considering how much ammo you can bring, the damage per ammo of slicing is really high. If you are finishing a hunt without restocking, that means you can have 60+80+99=239 spread 3 shots, 9+(9*2)+(30*2) = 87 sticky shots or 30+30=60 slicing shots not counting True Spear Shot procs. If the target hunts have similar health, the slicing ammo have to do much more damage to finish the fight with 60-90 shots compare to the 87-120 shots of sticky ore 200+ shots of spread. Also few shots to finish the hunt means less chance of mistakes to occur which means easier fights. In my experience playing around some special arena fights, my sticky/spread builds can consistently finish around 4 mins, while slicing would take around 2 min for the same fight.
All in all, this is a great mod, but I suggest having a lower damage version that is more in line with other ammo types if this is to be truly balanced.
Thanks! I look forward to try out a tuned down version!
If I may make a suggestion, I think balancing around hunting without restocking is a great idea. The issue with slicing in this regard is you can only bring and craft 60 shots per restock during hunts.
If it is possible, I think raising the amount of slash berry you can store in item pouch from 30 to 90 while tuning down the damage per shot on the training pole from the current 50*8=400 damage to 31.25*8 = 250 damage would be an amazing middle ground. This would bring slicing ammo right in between sticky and spread both in terms of ammo count (87 sticky, 120 slicing, 200+ spread) and damage per shot (150 sticky, 250 slicing, 350 spread).
Idk how op slicing was back in old mhw but id very much like them to be on par with stickies and build with them. Thanks so much for this tweak and for not putting objects-that-are-cake slicing pictures
very well done im happy to go back to some old builds i had when playing on ps4 now i can bring them to pc and have fun with my slicing builds again thanks a bunch. did some testing with the rapid fire slicing ammo on lbg and it seems balenced enough but can be op if you use a mod like i do when true razer sharp procs 70% of the time but without seem pretty balanced to me.
Awesome, I'm glad to hear that for you it feels the mod turned out well. And thanks for letting me know how it feels on LBG. Enjoy slicing up monsters!

Thank you for the mod, exactly what I needed. Try to get a cut was a nightmare, now is very well balanced.
Endorsed.
