    Bug/Issues Posts!

If you have a BUG or Issue with lighting lvls/Fog/Effects on a particular Biome/Mission can you please use the BUGS
Section to log reports, Please inc the Biome/TOD/Weather type/Cloud density lvl's as this will help me track down and fix the issue faster.

Please understand that there a 100's of permutations that the mission load out can throw out in this game and we have worked hard to try and make sure that almost all have been tested a few have slip though the net, PGI locking out the ingame console means testing these things takes way way longer than it should, If you report them as BUGS i will track and try to FIX/Tweak them out...if they are posted here in the main thread they will be removed.

Feel free to post feedback here & or feature's you might like to see added (Vol clouds and Dynamic TOD are on the todo list)

    Thanks MBM

    Hey All

Long time no Dev posts...so due to the fact that i couldn't even find a mid range GPU that had good FPS/£-$ i shelved my gaming/Dev sytem for over the past year, Having just sold a few of my guitars on Ebay ive now got the spere £ to throw at a GPU (i now have a 6700xt incoming seems the best bang for the buck atm)

Ive pully my old system out of storage and im downloading all 109GB of the updated Ed.....I'll then need a little while to get the system cleaned up & check for myself what's been altered  & try and get this mod working again,i can tell you atm that it's 90% broken with the lastest DLC, i had an old beta tester run a few tests for me and it seems that IO is the only Biome that is correctly triggering Relux's custom lighting,im hopping this is just a taging issue and if so it will be a quick fix to get it back to it's previous working state, i'll update this post once i have more of an idea.

    Cheers

Wooow...this update is AMAZING, I don't know what you did but everything looks a lot better now! There is a bug however.. I play in VR using VRWarrior, the renders in each eye are slightly different (left one is always brighter than the right), very uncomfortable. Then, on some maps there is this wierd flickering...of everything. I can upload a video if you it helps u to solve this?

I replied your message in WAR FX's page regarding lit translucent smokes, I'm not sure what you mean by it. This is my first time using unreal editor, so my knowledge is quite limited.

    Anyway great work! Cheers..

      Hey LV

Thanks for dropping by, Im really sorry to hear that this has broken VR for you(i will make a note on the front page about this) but  it's not something i own or have direct access to ATM unfortunately

I Do know that UE4 MW5 is not setup as a true forward renderer which is required for proper VR support and without one at hand id have a very hard time altering this Mod to support VR....Kinda Sucks for you guys but if PGI had implimented the promise VR at engine lvl instead of getting modders to do the work for them we might have a better chance of  compatibility.

And no worries about the lit translucent smoke, it is a higher lvl effect and might not be worth the effort, I'll have a play with it myslef on some of the default FX and if it's worth it i'll give you a break down) Btw this is also my first major mod with Ue4, it's been about 12 years since i did any Ue modding and learning this Ed is a fine balance of frustration & reward...thankfuly there are many fine Tut's online and if you can't find one that helps you with everything in one place ive found that smashing a few together will get you 90% there, Also Please stick with the Modding as you clearly have an Eye/Skill for it.

Have a good One and thanks agin for the feedback

      Hey lordwedggie

I saw your post about this Only working in one eye for VR, i think this might have something to do with the HeatHaze PP shader i added, So once i can stop the Ed from randomly crashing with D3D Lost errors (the game or any other apps on my system dont crash just the POS Ed)  I'll build you a version without the PP Shader and see if that helps .

I know this is a pretty old post, but I've discovered a few things with Unreal that are being used in this mod that just don't work correctly in VR. It's not necessarily this mod's fault or even MW5.

Ambient Occlusion is a big contributor to causing the out of sync eye visuals on close up static meshes. I found that much of this can be solved by setting AO to use GTAO with the following setting in Engine.ini:
      r.AmbientOcclusion.Method=1

The second problem, which causes the brightness issues with the sky, sun, and clouds in this mod specifically is something called 'Skyatmosphere'. If volumetric clouds are used in the skyatmosphere then the fog layer effects of the sky will cause the eye mismatch with brightness and visibility seen in this mod. There apparently are some workarounds to this, like making the clouds 2D objects and some other workaround by using a static mesh to proxy the skybox, but they require access to the project files of the mod and can't be simply overridden with any engine settings. You could theoretically disable skyatomosphere support, but then the the sky would be a default blank color.

Apparently, the only version of Unreal that the skyatmosphere works properly in VR is 4.27 - It doesn't work in 4.26 or 5 at all. ~shrug~

Wow just realised you started posting again this year, hope you can come back to Relux! So fed up with night missions in vanilla that arent even dark.... Looks like PGI has stopped DLC for this now, so might be a good time to get back without them breaking things!

Let me know if you are able to make any progress as more than happy to help test.

I don't know if it's a bug or what, but night vision is completely unusable with Relux. It adds a greyish green filter and enhances light sources, but it's still so dark I can't see anything unless there's an explosion. I was running into walls and other mechs because I was totally blind.

DLC 4 totally breaks 90% of the custom lighting profiles in this mod,it seems IO is the only Biome that still showing relux's custom lighting atm, Im working on getting my system back up and running to test and fix things but it might take a few weeks...Standby.

      Hey Lhooxy

System is out of storage rebuilt & back online, ive downloaded the whopping 109GB of the updated Ed! (had to buy a new SSD just for the ed and game!) I had a few issue with MW5 stutting like a MoFo & thought it was something to do with relux but even default was running like shit...thought maybe it might be AMD (not like i haven't had issues with AMD drivers in te past...) but all other Ue4 games i tryed ran fine....in the end it turned out to be windows 11's FCG (flow control guard)  turn that s#*! off and it's Butter smooth!

I see that PGI are patching this DLC soon (PGI patching a Patched DLC....LOL what a SOS those guys are....) Zero point in touching this untill thats done, but i think it's just the Biome triggers that are causing the issue as i played the first SP mission in the Ice/Snow and that had the correct lighting from Relux, Kinda nice to see PGI have fixed up the default lighting and added cockpit highlights as default, but i still think their lighting is way to washed out ;)

      Cheer

      ok, sounds good so far.
Don't forget: This grafic engine is able to push nearly every system to the limits, and beyond. (PGI style) ^^
Im playing the new DLC on a 4070ti, fired by a i5-13600K and when I use ANSEL (alt+F2) to make a HDR screenshot, my "supercooled" system starts to sound like an airplane, while the CPU hits the 85°. PGI's engine can be very stressfull.
Im on win11 also. But I use the smartfan option via bios.
So lets hope the PGI guys are quick in patching, I wanna have your mod on my new 21:9 asap :))

Thanks for all the work you putting in !

I would suggest to be very careful disabling Control Flow Guard from Windows Defender, now it's your computer and up to you how to use it. I'll leave a reddit post about it with answers advising not to it : https://www.reddit.com/r/PUBATTLEGROUNDS/comments/8jgz6g/disabling_control_flow_guard_in_windows_defender/

Hey thanks for the lighting mod, this is the ONLY mod I can find that actually makes nighttime dark.  Love it.

However I have some issues with light itself it would seem.  Autocannons on bright maps (like glacier) show up as the surface of the sun for a brief moment and I loaded up the Flare_Gun mod for nighttime missions and uh.... lets just say it was too bright.

(I could see nothing, coffee came out of my nose, no matter which direction I turned I could see nothing but blistering white light)

I can figure out how to load screenshots if you need.

I have no other atmosphere/lighting mods loaded.  I am NOT using vonbiomes.  The only other thing I think I have that would conflict is Cockpit Glass but I have your mods loaded far afterwards. (load order for Cockpit Glass is like '5').

    Thanks!

Hey thanks for the post :)

I can say this mod is about 90% broken atm, IO is the only Biome that is correctly triggering the custom ligthing, im in the process of getting my Dev system back up and running and will make an update/post when i have a better idea of the state it's in & the work that needs doing to test it

      Hey Grix19 and other users

Sorry to say the Source file for this are stuck on a HDD tha's in storage atm, Also i still don't have an active gaming system or desktop unit i could install it in and pull the files off/or run the ed on atm...I might be rebuilding my gaming rig later on in the year so if i get chance i'll see if i can port this up to DLC4 or at least add in the new ENV/Biomes, just a bit hard to find the spare time for this stuff atm, sorry :(

Hey Metal it's been a while.. I see that you have put my comment regarding your mod not working for VRWarrior. I left this game for a year and it's giving it another go since I got a 4090 and wanted to see how everything goes now.. holy moly, your mod does not only work, the results are INCREDIBLE! I vaguely remember the problem had been that the lightning was rendered in only one eye render it impossible in VR, well I don't know what you did but the latest version fixed that!

I just had a terrifying night fight where I kept switching between headlight to nightvision, until the whole field was lit up by war FX, hahaha it was awesome (even though I died at the end). So please remove my comment about the mod not working, and thank you!

I came here looking for a solution to a visual issue with the night vision view.  I was getting this light flare in the center of the screen.  Not only did this fix that issue for me, but the engine edits included with this mod increased my performance dramatically.

Kudos, MetalBeardMecha.  Thank you for your hard work in creating this mod for us.
