Master of Magic remake tactical combat mod - City Siege
This is my Master of Magic remake tactical combat mod, called Solitude Aeturnus, is an hommage (tribute) to a hacker group MotorSoft Confederation, active in the early 90s, who ran a BBS station with this name.
In this video you can see the following changes vs base game:
1. The defenders stay behind the castle walls, as it gives them greater defence,
2. Attackers (normal ranged units), such as slingers, close the distance to the target before attacking them, choosing whether to attack, move and attack or close the distance, based on the expected payoff (change in unit value and expected damage) instead of following the move-attack protocol that leads to the waste of ammo.
3. Melee units can attack more than one unit on the spot, also based on the payoff.
4. The order in which units act is not predefined ahead of the battle, as in the base game, but changes every turn to reflect the situation on the battlefield; the one with current top payoff takes action, then payoff is recalculated, etc. Some units (Rangers) start invisible (new skill of some ranged units), which gives them an advantage for their first attack.
