About this mod

There are many Shepards, but this one is mine. And she could be yours! This is a totally custom default head replacer, no save editing required. New color options!

VERSION 1.1: Choose between brunette with dark eyes, red with green eyes and freckles, or blonde with blue eyes! Updated eye textures!

Eliza has my custom eyes (with Illusive Man style renegade eyes), hair (anto's "Perfect Illusion"), and scalp (using Miranda's scalp as a resource). Her skin textures are built on resources made available to modders by Ellise and Matandie. Her scar is worked into her skin texture, meaning that it will carry across the trilogy regardless of whether you use the 'cosmetic surgery' perk to remove renegade scars. She has her own skin tone (making her compatible with all outfit mods.) Her lashes are custom, too.

All of her resources are set so that you can install other skin textures without worrying about overwriting her. Because of how renegade eyes work, these eye textures will affect all Shepards when she is installed; other eye textures installed after may override hers. Her hair mesh slots between weapons, but as with all long hair meshes, some clipping is inevitable; this is only significant with clothing that has a hoodie on the back.

Compatibility:

In LE1, any mod that touches BIOG_Female_Player_C.pcc will need a patch. I have included patches for Alliance Uniform Consistency, New Armors for Femshep, New Casuals for Femshep, ME2 N7 Armour, and ME3 N7 Armour. Just install this mod after those to have it auto-patch.

In LE2, this mod will partially conflict with mods that edit Garrus's meshes (like visor removers), bur only for his romance scene. It will conflict with Shepard Movement Animation Replacer. Patches may be available in the future.

In LE3, this mod is built on the Community Patch. Custom class mods will conflict with this mod, as will anything that directly edits SFXCharacterClass_X.pcc files. (I suggest using something like Bonus Bonus Powers instead.) I have included a small patch for the beam run with Take Earth Back. Version 1.1 includes patches for Unextended Cut and Audemus' Happy Ending Mod.

Installing:

  • Use ME3Tweaks Mod Manager to make a backup of your game.
  • Unpack the downloaded .7z file (marked UNPACK) and choose one of your color options.
  • Drag the chosen .7z file into ME3Tweaks Mod Manager and choose Import mods.
  • Select Lin's Femshep Replacer from the Mod Library list and choose Apply Mod. Installer will detect installed mods and deploy the appropriate patch.
  • Install.

Manual installation will not work as intended. LinsFSR uses the merge mod feature of ME3Tweaks Mod Manager to deploy a .m3m which changes Femshep's skin color.

Uninstalling:

  • Navigate to "Manage Target" for your desired game within ME3Tweaks Mod Manager.
  • In the Installed DLC mods menu, choose Disable and/or Delete for 'Lin's Femshep Replacer'.
  • Tab to Modified basegame files, and choose Restore for BioGame\CookedPCConsole\SFXGame.pcc

Known issues:

  • The game does not copy the hair texture information perfectly to the clone Femshep in LE3's Citadel DLC. This issue is being investigated.
  • Lighter hair colors on meshes that use cards to build their shape will have some transparency issues in Mass Effect. I have edited the hair alpha to reduce this problem.
  • Custom headmorph Sheps that use default hair will display my new mesh with incorrect textures. I recommend not having this mod installed when you want to use the original hair mesh.

Modder Stuff:

This mod was built by remodeling the LE3 female headmesh in Blender 2.80, which is the version I found would accept the .psk import/export add-ons I needed. Other programs may work better for you. After modifying the face, I had to delete the eyeballs and merge in fresh ones, as they had deformed during the process of narrowing the eye sockets.

To port a head mesh from LE3 to LE1&2, I replaced the bones, transferred the weights, and manually fixed the weight paints. Shep's weird smile animation in LE2 is just vanilla; I took cues from Miranda's weight paints to adjust her where I could. Hair was weighted appropriately for the various bone requirements (1/2 use 42 bones, 3 uses 9 bones) and has been fitted for this head specifically.

The .m3m files included in this mod edit the vector color of the material override (in SFXGame.pcc) which otherwise prevents you from changing default Femshep's skintone like you could Sheploo. For LE1/LE2 you can use a propertyupdate on IconicFemaleSkinToneColor in Default__SFXPawn_Player. For LE3 I used an assetupdate on Default__SFXPlayerCustomization.IconicFemaleOverride0, and imported the asset from my own pcc. See this page on the github for all the technical details about merge mods.
