mod manager having an error with the mod. [ERR] [M3] Alliance Dress Blues Redesign's banner image is not the correct aspect ratio. Aspect ratio should be 580x47. The banner won't be displayed. i do have texture mods to change the color of dress blues could that be crashing the mod?
I don't know, but it's unlikely, my mod doesn't change the vanilla textures, it just introduces new textures that replace the ones assigned to the 3D model of the dress
Quick question: Does it replace ALL in-game instances of alliance personnel wearing the vanilla Naval regs (e.g. personnel on acitve duty on the Normandy) with the dress blues OR does it only changes it in the prologue? I agree that it totally makes sense in the prologue scene because it is a formal, command-and-control, non-combat situation. But I would prefer to keep the vanilla regs for the personnel on the Normandy and in other situations. Thanks in advance!
Hey thx very much for the quick reply. Will look into that. Alternatively, would I just remembered that it is possible to deactivate mods. So if I deactivate the mod after the prologue scene then it should also revert back to the normals naval regs, if I am not mistaken? Other question: As far as I understand from the mod description and the installation options, this mod overrides the changes made by LE3 Diversification Project, right?

Yes. The patch is supposed to merge this mod changes to the one made by Diversification, but it's not updated, which means that using it will not display the changes introduced by Diversification in the recent updates
1. I don't really wanna change FemShep as I have this mod for her that replaces her vanilla dress blues. So is there an option not to install it, but can for everyone else? Wasn't specified on the description.
2. Does the Shepard options add them to the closet as a casuals so you can wear them anytime? Also do they also change the outfit during the Surkesh debriefing where you have to wear the dress blues? I wanted to download these for the uniform consistency between AHEM and vanilla. I did wish AHEM actually used your version instead, but oh well.
1) If they are both replacers for the vanilla, there could be a conflict 2) The MaleShep options are replacers for the vanilla, except for the combination of dress + cap, which is a new casual option. But being a casual option, it doesn't replace the one during Surkesh debriefing. I would have to mod the vanilla by replacing it with dress + cap, and maybe then adding the normal dress blues as a casual option.
Thank you for the reply. I did went ahead and installed both mods. I have no issue so far. Femshep's outfit is overwritten by the other mod and everyone else was unaffected so it was a win-win for me.
It's been a long time since I developed this mod so I don't remember the details, but I seem to remember that, for some to me unknown reason, James is a different "actor" in the prologue, and the changes made with EGM don't affect him in that first quest. And so I decided to give him a dress blues for prologue. A choice I admit, it's debatable.
I have the opposite problem, I hate that he's in a t-shirt during the prologue where everyone is in proper uniform...not sure why he's still vanilla when I have the dress blues option in EGM selected and this mod. It's only during the prologue and when he's doing pullups after Mars (which that part is fine) that he's not in his Blues.
As a Veteran who was both Enlisted and Officer, I was always annoyed at the lack of consistency and coherency of the Alliance uniforms. So, please know I am very thankful for this mod as it rectifies this gripe I've had since the OT! Have you considered doing a patch for the LE1 mod so we can see these proper uniforms and a patch to AHEM(reverse of your alternate version, overwriting that mods' uniform ranks instead)? Also doing a pack for AMM like this mod for LE1 would be great as well.
letting Shepard wear the Captain's bars makes sense since he was declared dead at the start of ME2 and military personnel usually get a two rank promotion when they die in battle which Shepard technically did so since HE died as a Lt Commander He would've been posthumously Promoted to the rank of Captain. This is something the devs missed when they brought Shepard back for ME2 and 3
P.S. Shepard being a Captain also makes more sense when you consider that if Kaiden is Alive He is a Major meaning that if Shepard is still just a Lt Cmdr or a Staff Cmdr Kaiden out ranks Shepard so any orders given to Kaiden is breaking the chain of command, at least with Shepard as a Captain He would be the same rank as Kaiden and if Ashley is Alive He would out rank Her as She is just a Lt Cmdr.
I'm not in the military or a veteran, but my understanding is that your rank is secondary to your role as far as chain of command goes. So even if Kaidan outranks Shepard, Shepard can still order Kaidan around since Shepard is in command of Normandy and the mission.
Shepard is also a reintegrated Spectre at the service of the Council, so he technically outranks everyone regardless of the Alliance military structure
The problem is that Kaidan is marine, James is Marine, and Ashley is marine ., and Shepherd is Navy. So a lt.Commander is the same as major in Army and Marines. A navy Captain is equal to a colonel, Navy Commander = Marine/Army Lt.Col, Navy Lt.Commander=Major marine/army, Navy Lt= Captain army/marine. In ME1 In the Lore you have Navy rank and Marine ranks and they are pretty similar to US ranks. So Shepherd was a Lt.Commander in ME1 Kaidan was 1/2nd Lieutenant = to Navy Jr.Lieutenant/Ensign 2 to 3 ranks below Shepherd. Ashley if I remember correctly was a Gunnery Sergeant, and why she got a rocket career is unbelievable when she comes back she is Lt.Commander, since she is a marine she should be a major, and she jumped 6 ranks in no time. But again at that time Shepherd is a Commander and its at that time 1 rank above Kaidan/Ashley if they are Major/Lt.cmdr. James Vega is never higher then a Lieutenant, probably not higher then 2nd Lieutenant.
Just a quick question. I'm not a fan of changing James' outfit, and wanted it to stay casual. I have the Expanded Galaxy mod which also changes how the crew looks, including James. Is that going to have priority or will this mod? Or does it depend on what I install first?
It's been a while since I released this mod, so I don't remember all the details, but I think I used EGM as base, so James should be vanilla unless you use the Dress Blues option for James in EGM. And the James files from this mod should have priority over EGM's James file.
Edit: I think the only exception to this might be in the prologue, where IIRC the prologue files used a different James model for obscure reasons only Bioware knows, so I had to change that and now the Dress Blues is forced for that part of the game
Can you make the ability to have 3 gold bars for Shepard? 3/4 black bars looks ugly on shepard imo
I feel like, since she/he is commanding people like Kaiden or Doctor Chakwas (who are majors by 3) then our CMDR should have a symbolically equal or higher insignia for their dress blues rank, otherwise it feels kind of wonky seeing Shepard with 3/4 black bars ordering around someone with 3 gold bars
4 gold bars are unused in both the game and the mod, and it could be used as an option to symbolize effective control of anyone on their ship who doesn't have a red bar
i agree even though it might not seem consistant rank wise he has done more than most of the other alliance higher ups shepard deserves 3 or all four gold bars could be symbolic of his star of terra
I absolutely love the respect and detail you put into this. You've kept it so close to the established aesthetics and design motifs of the Mass Effect universe, simply by adding more appropriate lore-friendly design elements. Fantastic work.
Any plans to make this for LE1 and LE2, as well (with regards to the Uniform/Appearance Consistency mods)? I would love to see these detailed uniforms throughout future playthroughs.
Ooh, yes. I love the uniform consistency mods and this mod looks fantastic but the inconsistency between the two would drive me nuts. Just speaking out loud, no pressure on the mod author.
Sorry for the late reply. I think in this case you should ask the authors of these mods to make a compatibility version, since they have imported new models in the games, while I just modifed existing textures (which as far as I'm concerned they are totally free to use)
This mod has a incompatibility with le3 prologue outfit customization mod even when i use just those two mods, in the scene where the reapers arrive if i don´t use the vanilla prologue outfit (battle dress) the textures just bugged out and in gameplay it revert´s to the battle dress, so either i don´t use prologue customization or i´m obligate to use the battle dress with only have 3 black bars
Did you install the compatibility patch? It's under the 5th tab, "Harbinger Overhaul and Prologue Outfit Customization". You can select just Prologue Outfit Customization if you are not using Harbinger Overhaul

What outfits are broken?
