Hello, I want to make a localization, and I want to know if it's possible to import and override all the text? Not import the modified ones, all text. I already export all text into a csv file, but it would horrible if it can't import back.

That's about 104 thousand (!) entries, i didn't think anyone would actually want to replace all of them. o.O

The plugin in its current form is not set up to export unchanged texts - and the csv exported string _cannot_ be imported because all information about text storage location are missing.

If you absolutely insist, then I could try to find some time next week month or so to allow exporting all text entries. I just have no idea how stable trying to import an xml file that massive is going to be... -_-

If all you want to do is replace one existing language files with another one, then there are different ways to do that. I've read that some people did some hex editing to allow e.g., Polish or Russian game versions to use the English text resources that are normally not usable in those games for some reason. I believe there are also completely packed language replacement files somewhere.
Idk if or how any of those work with frosty or this plugin though. But I suspect that rebuilding the frosty game cache after applying those changes could work as usual.

      Edit: Typo

No official localization and the unofficial is full of wrong translations. It would be great if there is a way to replace it all at once, but no need to try unless you want to. I'm not sure if I have the patience to finish it.

Although, do you know where I can find tutorial to change the font? I know there are font mods for DAI, but I don't find any tutorial. English font won't support Chinese characters. (The old trilogy is much easier to edit text)

If you open the Chunk/Res editor under View, then the font resources are located under dev/ui in the resources tab on the right. You can also filter with type: UITtfFontFile
Apparently these font resource can be replaced with ordinary TrueType fonts like .ttf.

But I don't know if the game will display Chinese characters - Japanese does not seem work for some reason. OR maybe there is still a bug in the plugin, I haven't found the reason yet.

If you join the frosty discord ( https://discord.gg/nrq7G5Q ), there was someone trying to get japanese translations working in the mass effect channel. I haven't heard anything from them back yet, but maybe they did make progress of some sort. Searching for japanese there should find that exchange quickly,  maybe you could ask them?

Well, now with the beta of Frosty 1.0.6 and the added csv import function in the default Localized String Editor, you should be able to overwrite existing texts. So If you still want to try, this might be worth a shot now.

Thanks for the update, the csv import works well.
It's been a very long time since I asked about the changing font problem. For MEA, under Chunk/Res window, the UITtfFontFile can only be import or export in .res files, How can I edit these files?
It seems there is no mod ever changes the font. The discord seems no longer live, I never see anyone post anything.

With the current version of the plugin you can also export all texts to xml, you'd need to change the setting for xml export under tools-> options for that. Just in case you still need that.

As for fonts: There are a few mods for DA:I and some NFS game that change the font.
I can't quite remember how to do that, but i believe that you can just rename the .ttf font file to .res and import those over the original resource.
For the main menu with default latin characters that worked, japanese characters did not though, and i didn't hear anything back from the other person if they got the characters to show up correctly.

The discord link i posted earlier should take you to the frosty discord -that one is alive. Just the Modding Andromeda server is dead. Most people from there are on the frosty server and/or ME Modding, or Haven?

The rename works, however, all the Chinese characters are blank placeholders, I suppose it's a dead end.
There is an unofficial localization, badly translated, installed by .exe, not replace existing file, but seems packed text into several .dll files, and linked to the game with font file alone, and can change the font whatever you like, but unable to touch the text.
By the way, do you know which file should I replace in DAI? The old DAI localization exe replaces files including fonts, so I can just change text with this tool. I see some Inquisition_BodyFontStyleStatusEffect file on date explore, but not in Chunk/Res.

For DAI, when you search for font in the chunk res editor, there are some <fontcollection_...> assets - I think those are the ones.
One of the DAI: font mods had a link to a howto on reddit in the description. That was for the dai mod maker, but i guess the actual editing is done with yet another tool, so that should be the same in frosty?

I assume you mean the localization plugin?
Just download the main file from there, unzip and place the .dll in the plugins folder of the frosty mod manager.
Then download the textpack from here, import them into the mod manager, and enable the one matching your language.

I just had a weird scenario where a single text for the configuration menu in spanish just would not show up when added to globaltranslated or mainmenu, even though another (new!) text id just before worked fine when added to mainmenu.
What finally worked was adding that text to mainmenu and(!) textpatch resources.

This stuff is getting weird, I have no idea why the game accepts some texts and not others when the setup is identical. <_<

Since I'm finally using this to update my mods, I noticed that the ui is pretty wonky and not updating correctly when switching between editors.
I'll try to fix this over the next month, if i get the chance.
