So,I just created a detailed tutorial video on how to install a Reshade. I`ve done this, since many of my downloaders dont know how to do so. I experienced that media is easier to consume than reading an instruction,so I thought I might share this video on different Reshades. Maybe you (the Mod creator) wants to pin it or add it to video section, for easier access :) If you dont like the video, feel free to delete this post :)
With the new ReShade installers, all the effects are grouped by authors/types. Run it, select the ME3 exe, then pick SweetFX by CeeJay.dk (LumaSharpen, SMAA) and Legacy Standard Effects (Ambient Light). Or just complete the installation without picking any effects, then download the shaders from GitHub and pick the ones you need.
Hi, very nice mod. I'll certainly try it out in my next playthrough: What I'd like to ask though is what mod did you use for Tali's face? I assume that is not something this mod does :)
hi, I'm having a problem with my game it said The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application. after I copy your files can you help me with thanks
Seems like a Windows/ReShade issue with older games. Google "0xc0000005 reshade". There are quite a few threads on the ReShade forums regarding this issue. Go through them. One of the solutions mentioned is to rename d3d9.dll to dxgi.dll.
Thank you for your work on these presets, vanilla enhancements are exactly what I look for. I do have a question though. You mention that these presets can be used across all 3 games, but this one, for Mass Effect 3 uses an extra shader compared to the preset you uploaded for ME2. How different are they, or is this upload just an updated version of the one you made for ME2?
Glad you like them. No, I made the ME3 preset from scratch. It has the extra shader because I thought it could do with it. As for differences, they were both made for their respective games but they shouldn't look out of place in the other two games either. It all depends on your visual preferences and monitor settings. Just try them both and pick the one you prefer.
Enhancing vanilla visuals w/o making things stupidly bright or dark is EXACTLY what I was going for so I appreciate your comment very much. Thanks a lot.
Hey, I'm having the same issue as TagManDK did, where if I enable the reshade, the lighting changes slightly and it's a smidge bit sharper but nothing else. However, I made sure I installed it in the right spot and I was still having the same issue. Any idea what might be causing this? I'm not super familiar with reshades so I'm pretty clueless :(
If you're having the same issue TagManDK did, then the lut.png file isn't in the right place. When he faced this issue, it was partly my fault because the installation path I mentioned wasn't complete. I have since updated the description with the full path.
If you just extract the contents of my mod and copy them to the Win32 folder, everything should be in the right place. Your Win32 folder, the one where the ME3 executable is located, should contain the following files: 1 - reshade-shaders folder (contains two sub-folders - Shaders and Textures, the lut.png in Textures should be replaced with mine) 2 - ReShade dll (d3d9.dll or dxgi.dll) 3 - ReShade.ini (contains file paths and other config data) 4 - Preset file (Illusive ReShade ME3.ini) 5 - Log file (d3d9.log or dxgi.log, auto generated)
Any game using ReShade will have the above mentioned files where the game executable is located.
I appreciate the breakdown. I made sure I overwrote the lut.png where the reshade folder put the original before commenting, and just in general made sure everything's installed in the right place. But it very well could be that the difference just isn't as obvious in the character creator and the beginning of the game, as they are further in like in the screenshots - which means that I did do everything right, just for some reason expected Vancouver to look like the Silversun Strip lol. I'm currently reinstalling the game and setting up all my mods from scratch, so it'll be a while before I know this for certain. But I'll post an update once I know.
Yeah, its not a dramatic change over vanilla but if the difference is non-existent like in the pics TagManDK posted, then its because the color grading hasn't taken effect.
Sure, lmk how it goes or if you need any help with it.
Alright, so I had my brain shut off too for a bit while installing the reshade. I forgot to apply the vignette remover while thinking it was already installed, and I had the one made for the vignette remover, so... yeah. But now everything looks just fine, sorry for the trouble and thanks for the reshade!
NP. Glad you sorted it out. As I've mentioned in the description, you can use either version with or without Vignette Remover. The VR version is just tuned to better compliment that mod. ReShade presets work independent of normal mods. As long as you drop the files in the right place, they will work no matter what other mods you've got installed. So most likely you just installed everything in the correct location this time around.
Nice preset! I've been messing around with it and am wondering how you achieved the great DOF in some of your screenshots. An example could be the one with Avina VI. Depth buffer access is limited in the ME games, so it is near impossible to get a nice DOF in.
Is the DOF in the screenshots really vanilla then?
The preset looks great in the attached pictures, thanks for sharing. I'm not getting any marked improvement when I toggle it in-game, though. As far as I can tell, only edge smoothing is kicking in, as well as the slightest brightening of blacks. I'll link some screenshots for comparison, as well as the ReShade settings menu.

Do you know what I'm missing? Note: I have not installed "Vignette Remover" (already installed "A.L.O.T.") or "Reduced Lens Flares", but figure there should still be a more noticeable difference.
Have you put the LUT.png file that comes with my preset in the correct directory i.e Mass Effect 3/Binaries/reshade-shaders/textures? You need to overwrite the default one that comes with ReShade. My preset is a subtle one so there isn't a massive change over vanilla but in your case the color grading part doesn't seem to have taken any effect whatsoever. The LumaSharpen shader is clearly working though.
Also, you don't need to install Vignette Remover if you don't want to. Just use the alternate version of my preset in that case. And if installed correctly, the preset should work irrespective of whatever other mods you've got installed.
Thanks for the quick reply, due to which I have discovered that I am a moron.
I installed ReShade using my brain, and I installed your preset while this same brain was switched off. My MassEffect3.exe is located in \Binaries\Win32, so I directed ReShade to this folder, but with your preset, I just mindlessly followed the instructions in your description (i.e. \Binaries).

Also, unless you're in it just for screenarchery, I don't think a strong DOF like that would work well for normal gameplay in a TPS like ME.

It's working well now, thank you for your help.
Thanks for the endorsement.
