Mass Effect 2 wasn't built to support any kind of hair on the default male player, thus we had to use the head mesh to implement our changes. This means that helmets that usually hide hair, like the N7 helmets, will not hide any hair at all from this mod and will clip through them. There is no workaround through this, except to either, only use the beard (it won't clip with helmets) or use helmets that hide the entire head, like the Death Mask or the Recon Hood. Since you can swap hairstyles during your playthrough, doing so is another option if you don't mind closing your game during your playtime to swap styles.
You can even do so as many times as you want after installing texture mods like ALOT or MEUITM.
I know this was asked before by another user, but is there a possibility this would be ported to Legendary Edition? I am currently compiling a list of mods for my friend who I got into playing Mass Effect (they are loving it, yay:D), and I know they would enjoy having some beard options. I know nothing of how to make mods myself for this game, so I do apologize if I come off rude. Thank you modders for making ME even more enjoyable!
Version for LE1 is now available! Sorry, I meant to reply earlier, but it seems I missed your comment. LE2 and LE3 versions will come out in the future.
My game crashes after intro movies after I install literally any texture mod. Using the regular ME3Tweaks manager, ALOT installer with Alot 14.0, 14.1, MEUITM2, Static Lighting Improvement (From ALOT), NOT Alov, and a beard from Hairy Sheploo. I don't know what's going wrong, I've played ME2 with all those installed before, but now it won't work.
Now, I just installed the beard+hysteria file using ME3tweaks texture installer, and crashes again on start up. Any ideas or tips?
Please send me a log of your game as instructed in the following gif; make sure you have the exact mod setup causing your crashes before proceeding with the diagnostic.
OK, after looking at this back and forth I think I found the issue causing your crashes. I think you are trying to install the beard+hysteria without having previously installed the main Hairy Sheploo package, thus a core file of the game is getting corrupted in trying to call for missing textures which most likely explain the crashes you are experiencing.
Make sure to install the main file first before trying to add any alternates (and textures). Also, I see you are using Combat Evade Manouvres. That mod needs to modify the core file of this mod, so make sure you install the main package before that mod, so the combat roll function gets patched into this mod for you, otherwise if my main file for Hairy Sheploo is installed after, it will override that mod's functions.
Will try all that, thank you so much for the help, and it's so awesome you were so quick to help! I wish you the best in life and will update you if it works
Is this mod overwriting EGM Fix Weapon in Cutscene ME2 mod? Cause i installed both of them and the EGM Fix weapon cutscene didn't work after i installed this
No ETA sorry, engine changes make implementation an end-user nightmare for LE2, so we're researching alternatives while still working on the unofficial patch for LE2. But rest assured it's our dream to bring the mod to the entire LE collection as teased on our N7 video.
Okay, dumb question, but how i can change hairstyles? I just started a game, and i got macho+beard, and want to change that, but do not now how exactly.
Well, i didnt do anything, besides dropping the main file into the ME3Tweaks mod manager, and the alternative into the ALOT installer. Thats why i asked you about this in the first place, because its only 2 files you've got available for install, or did i miss something?) Sorry about grammar btw if anything wrong, english is not my native. I hope i make myself clear)
Did you just not read the instructions and add EVERY hairstyle to the ALOT installer...? There's an extra file with ALL options and you must choose whichever you want. And only install one. So go, follow the instructions of either using MEM or ALOT installer and just drop the one hairstyle you want.
Yep, like i've said, dumb qeustion. It seems i'm suffered from my own carelessness. Thanks for your time though, it's all worked now. Thank you for anwering me, and thanks for the mod itself - its one of a kind, brings default broShep even more charisma and freshness, so to speak) And i am hope you make one for the first game as well one day)
Hello ! Finally some way to add hairs and beard to default Shep, it makes sense with the story since he is not in the army anymore. Thanks for your work ! Quick question : if I'm not mistaken, on some screenshots you wear the Oleg Petrovsky armor from the ME3 DLC Omega, how did you do that please ? I can't find the mod to get this armor, and it fit perfectly with a bearded Shepard so I kinda want it bad now xD
Hi! Thank you for your comment. All outfits seen on the screenshots which aren't part of ME2 originally come from my other mod Expanded Shepard Armory. I will be releasing an update version hopefully soon, so watch out for it as several new things will be being added to it. I hope you enjoy both mods together!
Hi again ! First, I'm sorry I didn't respond to you sooner, I was sure I did but no, my apologies ! I really enjoyed the combination between the Petrovsky armor and the hairy bearded Shepard, I had a blast playing with it before LE came out ! So again thank you for that !
My new question is : does this work with Legendary Edition and if not, do you plan to port your mods on it ? Because I finished my Femshep playthrough and I'm kinda waiting to see if your mods are updated to LE before starting a new Broshep run haha
Expanded Shepard Armory is already out. Should be on the Legendary Edition front page. Hairy Sheploo is a long way from being rebuilt. It requires editing a hellish file with a new format which doesn't really account for the changes I must make for this mod. It's currently not on my top priority.
Ok, then how can i downgrade it ? Because everytime when i try to open MEM right after reinstalling entire ME3TMM, it force update to latest version (no, turning off internet doesn't help, because it's just not launching then)...
If that's truly the case, there's a really bad bug on the manager. I will check it out, on the mean time, download this for the OT: https://github.com/MassEffectModder/MassEffectModder/releases/download/439/MassEffectModder-v439.7z
Unzip it and use that version of MEM for any OT mods. It's the latest stable OT version directly from its GitHub page.

I am nearly done with LE1 and this was essential for me playing as Sheploo for the first time.
PS: Just found Project Variety for ME2...damn...that would be nice too. You are awesome!

Hoping this solves your issues! 😃

NOTE : Beard installed correctly (installed directly via Mod Manager), only can't to install hair...
Edit : Ok, i updated ME3 Mod Manager to 7.0.3 and i see 2 MEM's (normal and for LE) - both doesn't want to install it...
