sorry for a noob question. Does something speak against an additional MEM version? MEM was quite easy to use... For HologramsHD for example there are .DDS and MEM versions.
.TPF is the leading texture mod format and supported by Texmod and ME3Explorer, I don't plan to release something separate for MEM, no. I was under the impression MEM would soon or already does support the .TPF format though.
Looks great. FYI, MEM complains that DRL_THN_LGTa_Norm isn't ATI2, but I'm completely new to ME2 modding so maybe that's of no concern. I'll figure out how to convert it myself.
This probably is because I package the normal as both a DXT5 for Texmod and an ATI2N for ME3Explorer. Texmod ignores ATI2N, so to be compatible with both tools I have to add it twice. ME3Explorer loads the first (ATI2N) and collapses the second entry (DXT5) automatically and ignores it, so it never complains about the format and doesn't require fixing.. It's automatically handled. In the end, I build for ME3Explorer and Texmod, not for MEM.
If MEM doesn't deal with duplicates the same (or at all) it makes sense this would trigger issues. - If MEM only loads last loaded, it would completely ignore the ATI2N as it's first in the tpf. In this case you would have to extract the contents of the TPF with either ME3Explorer or TPF extract, and manually drag everything but the DXT5 norm into MEM. - If MEM shows both normals in the list, you'd just need to remove the norm that gives you the format error, as its duplicate is in the right format.
Whichever the case, I would take it up with the MEM creator as this is how I'll keep building my ME2 TPF's to ensure they work properly with Texmod as well. Texmod predates the ATI2N format and is no longer maintained, so I have little choice but to do it this way.
Thanks for the detailed response. I informed them and it turned out it's a bit of a non-issue since MEM skips the DXT5 one and continues on. I didn't know about the duplicate file so I thought the resulting .mem file was incomplete based on the error message. The MEM author wasn't aware of this use case though, so will probably handle it a bit differently going forward.
