That is a pretty hilarious mess up then, I mean the pictures clearly shows Jacob in like all of them, so why you constructed the idea that specifically he and other black people would be removed from the game is a mystery. Then the description reads "Mass Effect 2 crushes blacks! Get way more detail back because of this mod." <- this would rather suggest the mod would do something about the the fact mass effect 2 is crushing blacks, so rather add them than remove them.
Brains can be funny things sometimes, I know I have experience with mine.
Literally NO difference at all. It's like there's something wrong with the contrast of the game... or there's less lighting... I'm on Omega doing Mordin's mission and shadows are incredibly dark. In the cutscene where Shepard talks with Mordin at the clinic, Shepard's face is not lit at all, it's like he/she is trying to hid in the shadow... wtf is going on, before uninstalling and reinstalling the game it wasn't like this. And this fix doesn't change anything at all.
EDIT: No ok, I did another try, and this fix actually changes a lot, I have to admit... but it's still too dark.
I've made an attempt but it appears that the games will not load if you make any modification to the shader files. There may be some Denuvo type system in the LE that prevents file modifications.
nice, good you are looking into it, since I have my own company in construction now a lot has changed for me according to having time for certain things. Unfortunate it did not work yet, but it's good to know the file seems accessible still.
This mod is a life-saver. Honestly. I have a dark-skinned Shepard and there were scenes where literally all I could make out were the whites of her eyes. This mod helps a lot. Thank you!
Also in case anyone is wondering, it's safe to install this after ALOT. That's what I did and I've had no issues so far.
I found this fix on the web because I wanted normal blacks but keep DoF, so to be honest I myself do not know either Also haven't got the game installed atm to confirm this right now.
If you anyone can confirm I will adjust the description.
Can absolutely confirm - just look at the description of the file. It says: "Pixel shader for blending the blurred depth of field and bloom colors with the scene color." No DoF, no blending, no effect of any of this code on the image.
I didn't think this was needed, but on omega/afterlife the game looks positively dreadful.
And honestly this shader change does very little to fix that. A better way is to disable the entire "filmic response" effect (whatever that's supposed to be) from the shader. Just find the call to the function a few lines down and comment it out. E.g. this line: DOFResult = ApplyFilmicResponse( DOFResult );
Or for the lazy - just copy over the same shader from ME1. This thread has been very illuminating on the topic, and is perhaps the original sources of this fix: https://fextralife.com/forums/t206527/shadows-way-too-darkblack-intendedscreenshot-solved/
I have noticed the exact same problem indeed, the thing with ME3 is that this cute little file I edited with this mod is locked away (as least as far as my modding knowledge goes) so I couldn't perform the same cool trick I did with ME2 :'(
They did the same thing on ME3, unfortunately I am still unable to edit any of those shader files succesfully (actually finding the same file is the problem)
I never understood why someone thought it was a good idea to terminate several shades of black.
