Everybody is welcome to request any other model for Male & Female Shepard for me to upload! It only takes a few minutes to do! I intend to consolidate all requests by race, so finding any other Asari requests can be done here on this page.
Sorry for such a late reply Codynreed, I can definitely do a Councillor Tevos mod, but not a Tela Vasir as she is not IN Mass Effect 1. I can only do characters who appear in this game sadly. Also I expect that Councillor Tevos isn't going to play very well. She'll work perfectly in cutscenes and you can run around as her, but since she doesn't fight in-game, she probably won't be able to pull out a gun. But I'll check and let you know!
Now that this mod has shown you what ini file to mess around with you need two things! 1. What line of the file changes the player model? 2. How do I find model names to change to?
1. Use Ctrl+F and enter "Actor". Hit Enter twice to get to the lines describing m_FemaleActorType and m_MaleActorType. The text following the = sign is what must be replaced to give you the new model!
2. Finding the model names is trickier. Use the wonderful Mass Effect INI Modder mod here on the Nexus to find the list of models! Under the "BIOGame" Tab there is a complete list of models both female and male only under the Male Shepard model replacer drop-down menu. All you need to do is A) Select your preferred model under Male Shepard's drop-down. B) Save to ini (bottom-right of tool) [If you want to play Male Shepard, then you don't need to do anything else. This is simply how you use the tool as intended by the tool's creator] C) Open the BioGame.ini file in your documents D) Find the m_maleActorType= section and copy the text after the = sign. E) Paste it after m_femaleActorType={>HERE<} and save the file. It may ask you to rename it, which is simple. Remember to delete the old BioGame.ini and rename your new one to BioGame.ini. F) Launch the game.
NOTES: - You'll know if you messed up if the launch screen takes a million years. Usually just a spelling error! - When creating a Shepard, it is ideal to use Quick-Start Shepards because customized Shepards faces sometimes appear overtop of the model's face you're attempting to use. - Many models have issues such as taking cover, moving without guns, using guns, or performing any animations. However, if all you care about are cutscenes, then almost every model works wonderfully! - Using the console command "teleport" is helpful when moving without a gun on models where it is difficult. - If you are not playing a party member then sometimes there are combat issues. Your name will not show up on the bottom left HUI with your health bar, and sometimes your abilities won't go off until a few moments after activating them. - Also sometimes you're invincible - The camera in this game follows where normal Shepard WOULD be, so some camera angles won't work for some models (like volus for example. You just won't see the character unless it is zoomed out far enough).
Wish this just added an option to create an Asari on the Character Creation Screen to be honest than replacing a file in a existing playthrough. But good little copy and paste thanks.
If anyone still even looks at the comment section of this mod, I'm going to be surprised. Folllowed all the directions for installation, but the mod doesn't work. I have ME on Origin by the way.
Thanks for responding! It's not working when I load the game, and I made sure to put the files as read only. Is the problem rooted in me having a default/custom Shep? I'm currently using a custom Shep.
Can someone tell me WHY this isn't working???? This is LEGIT the only mod I want to useeeeeee >.< The only other mod I have installed is the xbox controller support mod. Do they conflict? For some reason my Shepard always comes out human female, quick-start like you said! Copied the bio file to doc/bioware and everything ...
That's incredibly strange that it would conflict with the xbox controller mod. I don't use it myself so I never noticed. Would you be able to tell me if the Config file you downloaded from here is set to Read Only in its Properties?
EDIT: I just downloaded the Controller support. You can get them to work together quite easily as a matter of fact. What I would recommend is: 1. Download my file here and open it in Notepad 2. Ctrl+F, type in "Actor" and hit enter twice to get to the player models. 3. You'll see two lines, m_femaleactortype= and m_maleactortype=. Just copy everything after the = sign on the gender you want to make the asari. (Or both if you want)
4. Open the BIOGame.ini file in the Controller mod 5. Ctrl+F, type in "actor" and hit enter twice to get to the player models. 6. Paste the line you copied from my file onto this file. 7. Use the BIOGame.ini from the Controller mod that you just changed and everything should work well.
The files weren't marked as "read-only" so I had to edit that in properties to get them to stay active whit other mods overriding the ini file. Probably should mention that somewhere in the description but all g
Sure! So I don't have the game on Origin, but I imagine if you go to My Documents on your computer you have a Bioware folder, and inside should be a Mass Effect folder?
In the Mass Effect folder is a folder called "Config". Go into there, and you should see a bunch of files called BIO....
My mod gives you a replacement file for the BIOGame file. So you'll just want to paste my file into that Config folder and replace the BIOGame file you have! Easy as cake.
I looked at the pictures and it got me thinking.. any idea if the asari commando outfit is available for humans? It's not something that's sold anywhere, but can it be modded in like in ME2?
I'd recommend taking a look at the list of armours that appear in the game, including the PC Tweaks page online, and using the Cut Content Unlocker mod to get access to every armour. The asari commando is just jet black and I know you can find jet sleek black medium armours in vanilla or with the developer console

I love using an asari to play!!!

If not, would you take a request to make it for those games?
In what way specifically does the mod not work? Freezing? Or you just load the game and nothing's changed?

I found out! I think this mod is incompatible with some other mods... phew!
