on episode 2 right now & i need you to know you might be the funniest person ever. thank u for this :) (also would love to see one for before the storm if you'd ever be up for it !! i see u can't w the og but if it's possible w the remaster u absolutely should, it'd be hilarious !!)
Is there chance that Remastered for LIS, Before the Storm Remastered, LIS2, Captain Spirit, Tell Me Why and/or True Colors will get this mod? I would like to see them get this. I am definitely enjoying this mod in LIS. I love it so much. Just thank you for this. I wanted to go back to LIS, but didn't due to the whole wanted something new and this gives me that. So please can we get this in the other games.
is built in the Unity 5 engine. It uses the .lsb file type for the subtitles, which I cannot edit. Which is a shame, because I would so make a mod too.
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit
Life Is Strange 2
Haven't played yet. Look forward to it.
Life Is Strange: True Colors
Haven't played yet. REALLY looking forward to it. (STEEPPPHHHH!!)
Tell Me Why
Twin Mirror
Haven't played. Very unlikely as they are standalone games.
Life Is Strange Remastered
Life is Strange: Before the Storm Remastered
WE WILL SEE. If it is possible, HELLA YES! They are likely to be built in Unreal Engine 4, an update to the original's UE3, which means easily editable .int files! If so, then I think this year would be the last update, and I would port it to the remaster. If so, then that means LiSBtSR could possibly also use .int files, which means... Fan Commentary for Before the Storm! ... But this is positive wishful thinking. We will find out in the end.
Please play LIS2, Captain Spirit, TC, TMW, Vampyr, and Twin Mirror. Would love fan com for them. And hopefully you would be able to edit LIS Remastered and BTS Remastered. I would love to see them. Specially for BTS Remastered. I can see what you do for it. Definitely get me to laugh. Like I did with this mod and so can't wait to have in the Remastered hopefully.
It has been about ~13 hours since Life is Strange - Remastered launched. While other people have been having fun, I have been hacking through all the files to see how it works.
Even before starting/playing/finishing the game first, I noticed a couple of changes, so it's not a 1:1 copy and paste job. So, officially, Meme Subtitles is not compatible with the remaster. That being said, it can become compatible if I make a few suggestions.
The localization file is found in the remastered folder at \Steam\steamapps\common\LIS - Remastered\LIS\Content\Paks\pakchunk0-WindowsNoEditor.pak\LIS\Content\Packages\Localization\en\
Hang on, what's that? pakchunk0-WindowsNoEditor.pak ? Wha?
It seems somebody at DeckNine was not having fun with us having fun modding the game. That's a .pak file that needs to be unzipped by UnrealPak.exe by Epic Games, which comes with the Unreal Engine. Once you've done unzipping ALL 21 GIGABYTES OF DATA, you have to make my tiny little text changes (Approximately 0.0035% of those files), then repack ALL 21 GIGABYTES OF DATA back nicely (using another tool because UnrealPak.exe doesn't like me). And the original packing wasn't even optimized! I managed to repack it at 12.2gb and it works! So what was the point of that DeckNine?
So in summary: Funny Fan Commentary Captions (new name) is coming to LiS:R soontm, if all this .pak mess gets sorted out. Otherwise I'm not uploading 21gb to NexusMods, and I don't think this website would appreciate it anyway. My wish is: Somebody finds an easy way to mod the remaster so that we can get the ball rolling here. It's not going to be me though, I'm a cargo cult programmer.
In more bad news: LiSBtSR still uses Unity. Which still has .lsb files. This is a remaster, not an engine-port remake. Boo.
... But in good news... guess who found out how to decrypt and edit .lsb files? :-D
Just wanted to leave thanks for this mod. It's an incredibly good romp/commentary that genuinely made my recent playthrough a lot more amusing, both in letting me cheat the really hard dialogue choices giving me some helpful hints, and the more absurdist stuff, from the Monty Python references to the "We did it, Reddit!" inclusions. It was great from start to finish, thanks for the mod.
Both questions can be summed as: That's the joke. Yeah.
For details: 1) Daniel DaCosta is Mexican-American (Probably). Mexicans speak Spanish. However, the real joke is that the subtitles aren't in Spanish, they're in Portuguese, the other dominant Latin language in South America. 2) I love how disorientating the Nightmare sequence is. The subtitles flicker between all available languages to show how weird it's all getting, aside from Max's thoughts. You're not getting any help from here.

Download the mod. Extract the files. Replace the old files in the subtitle folder with the new files. Start the game. Enjoy the mod.
Prepare the lifeline. Lower the stretcher. Make the rescue. The new Life is Strange collection from NexusMods.
1) Why was Daniels dialogue all in Spanish?
2) Why in Ep5 during the nightmare, all the subtitles apart from Max where in random languages?
Am I missing something ?
