I've never once posted a review of a mod before, but holy shit. I've tried like 50 different performance mods and none of them have worked even half as good as your mod. Amazing work and thank you so much.
Brah ... after installing Genesis mod along with enhanced survival challenge +own tweaks ... just breathed such new life into the game. BUT there was one big beast!! LOADING TIMES !! PERFORMANCE !! After applying your NVIDIA tweak loading times were VASTLY improved (and i have a high end pc with kenshi on ssd) ... and i began to look into your other mods and found this, another hidden gem ?? Aaand after applying this mod too ... sniff sniff ... almost shed a tear... ahahaha. SUPER fast and performant...
Beatiful work man, thank you for all the work you`ve put in and sharing with us. Love the comprehensible (people skills) tutorials for installations and troubleshooting.
Your installation instructions are incredibly confusing. Following the instructions outputs files to "PSO\Resources", this seems incorrect. You mention it should be "kenshi/Resources". Which is it?
is your kenshi.exe renamed? you might click Edit on the installer and delete exe check :) magic of open source let you hack my tool and adapt to your needs
Just FYI for other users experiencing this issue: You need to drag the entire PSO folder into your main Kenshi directory (like how SCARaw's looks in the screenshot on the main page). Do NOT drag and drop the Particle_fix_installer 3.4.bat/Resources folder into your Kenshi directory.
Thanks guf616, was getting the error of "can't find kenshi.exe" and it was because i only copied the .bat and resources folder. Doing what you said worked :)
No, you need to find in files calls for Sparks4x.png? i m pretty sure it just ask for old file and can not find it You can also: this is rough fix, but i think you can do it without going Notepad++ advanced user in 10 minutes
Go to PSO
find backups
take Sparks4x.png
copy it
paste it to the data/particles/textures
Hope this will fix
might cause minor issues, but should not crash you, its very rough "fix", but good enough
Does this actually change particle effects like fire and footstep dust? I noticed things like that become cube like and aren't rendered right sometimes. Either it's this or rekenshi causing it. In rekenshi I did install compressed cube maps but not sure if that did it or not.
if you installed PSO after Rekenshi it should be fine if before rekenshi, i m not sure what it does with files PSO comes in finished package and all the screenshots are literally from my gaming
Yeah I'm not quite sure either. My install order was PSO, Nice Textures replacer version, the performance fix you have then ReKenshi.
The install did break with the perf one like you said on the deck, threw out some errors but had some things replaced. Don't know if maybe that was the cause either. After that I added the water boost mod over that. Haven't gone back to my data backup after any of that.
I was able to run the bat for PSO successfully compared to performance fix and rekenshi installed fine too but something broke. You did say install PSO before performance fix. Perhaps I need to wipe and do performance fix first then PSO then ReKenshi? Not sure about nice textures and when to do that one. The textures for everything else are fine and gorgeous, just missing the particle effects in their original glory
I deleted the data folder entirely and restored my backup, used the mod version of nice textures instead of replacer, did not install the performance fix and only used the water fix mod, reinstalled rekenshi without compressed hieghtmaps and finally reinstalled PSO then imported my save.
I'm not sure which of those steps actually fixed it but it works. I tried reinstalling PSO before doing all that but it didn't change anything so I suspect there was something else in the data folder conflicting with the textures. It's all working now as it should. Thanks man and thanks for all your mods. The collection I'm using has a bunch of your stuff and while I didn't want 500+ mods now I can't go back to just the 5 I had haha.
Glad you have it running, i do have most tests done by people who not run more than 100 mods max was 85 i think nobody is willing to manage 130+ mods to recreate junky conditions that can't be cased by this mod alone just to tell people to stop using mods and see how they don't care anyway and 10 minutes loading time is suddenly not a big deal... but if you wanna make the Kenshi (game) load in a seconds i can do that!
Not gonna lie I do miss it loading quickly but for me with the Kaizo/Vanilla+ pack it's now about 4-7 to get into the save from launching. Not terrible considering all the mods but I've endured far worse with RimWorld lol.
I had no intention of having so many but there's a lot of things I did want to change and it had everything I initially wanted and more which saves time browsing the workshop and trying to manage the list which is very difficult without an external mod manager like MO2.
I get what you're saying though and luckily it was all tested beforehand so I don't have to fuss with that which makes troubleshooting easier. I get enough of that with Skyrim 😂
I'm feeling kind of dummy, when I run and follow the installation it says "access denied", so I don't know if I'm doing something right, something wrong or what u.u
Hello, Scar. I'm using your Performance Fix mod, and I remember reading PSO should be installed first. However, I didn't (silly me), because I've been using another particle mod at that time. Can I install PSO on top of Performance Fix, and should I reinstall Performance Fix afterwards? Or should I revert the data folder to its original state and go from there?
Thanks for your impressive work on this rough gem that is Kenshi !
i made my installers to be "stupid resistant" im not saying you are stupid, i m just saying you can try to be as stupid as you want XXD
they can withstand it and keep the game operational
installing after is perfectly fine, just PSO have uncompromising totalitarian code, it might be even better to install it after, but idk, testing on my end made game works smooth in both cases
Thank you for your quick reply. I'll install on top then. If something wacky happens, I'll report back.
Keep up the good totalitarian work!
edit: Works like a charm, and performs better than other similar mods I've tried ! Noticable smoother camera movement, decreased cell loading times. Thanks for your other masterclass mods, too - without these the game would be unplayable on my old potato pc. As others have already said, it's borderline insane (no disrespect for Lo-Fi) to not integrate these kinds of optimizations into the base game, especially since it doesn't seem to be overly complicated, obscure black magic.

sorry for weak description, i m working on restoring lost images, but my internet is absolute garbo today
you might click Edit on the installer and delete exe check :)

texture exist and is supplied correctly, there is no typo or issue preventing it from load
check on vanilla game only and see if issue happens with clean kenshi - maybe one of your mods added sparks somewhere?
do you use other particle mods?

or just dont use rekenshi and check if game works nice?
