About this mod

Fixes several inconsistencies with Kenshi's weather relating to audio, timing, wetness, wind, and more. Increased weather variety almost everywhere on the Game map. Also fixes inconsistencies with ground acid, ground water, and fertility. Lightly re-balanced fertility in some zones to increase diversity.

Realistic Weather v1.0
by Ruhadre

This Mod Provides:

- Corrected rain/wind audio values for vanilla weathers.  May need adjusting in the future, but at least you should be able to hear when it's windy and/or rainy.
- All Wind Update Times for weathers have been set to 20 minutes instead of 6 hours.  This helps make wind react more frequently/realistically in-game.
- Wind Speeds were corrected for many weathers that had no wind at all even though they were giving audio for wind.
*Having wind speeds react more often means that wind power can possibly become less reliable in some zones!
- Weathers have been given a very small buff to wind speed to help offset effect of wind update speed.
- Reduced all dust related values in weathers by 50%.  Dust is exaggerated in-game normally and I felt there could be possible performance gained here.
- Some zones had no weather/seasonal data at all.  This was corrected with what I felt made made sense for it's location on the map and zone flavor.
- Super hot weathers have all been correctly set to day-time only (only 1 out of 3 of these weathers had this in vanilla)
- Corrected wetness values of all weathers.  This means that water collectors won't be useless anymore!
- Any zone that had acidic water, now has acidic ground in equal measure.  Remember to wear shoes if you aren't skeleton or hiver!
- Minimum time for weathers has been set to an hour, double that of vanilla.  This helps prevent the weather from rapidly switching.
- Maximum time for weathers has been set to 8 hours, quadruple that of vanilla.  This helps prevent the weather from rapidly switching.
- "Misty Rain" has been given the vanilla light rain particle effect instead of heavy rain.
- Several new weathers were created and incorporated into seasonal data where it made sense.  I attempted to keep the vanilla feel for zones mostly.
- A lightning effect now occurs during heavy rain/storms.
- Minimum groundwater was given a 10% buff across the board.  This makes it possible to get water where you couldn't before.
- Minimum farming was given a 10% buff if a zone had none.  This makes it possible to farm where you couldn't before.
- The heights for groundwater and fertility were adjusted to match each other.  Where there is water, there is fertility, and vice versa.
- Some zones had no resource data at all.  This was corrected with what I felt made made sense for it's location on the map and zone flavor.
- Several zones that lacked copper/iron deposits, now have them.
- Several zones that lack any kind of farming type, now have either 20% arid, or 10% arid + 10% green.
- Any zone which had no stone multiplier, now has 10%.

The New Weathers:

- Realistic Fog.  This weather happens during night/early morning.  Provides a small amount of wetness and has an acidic counterpart.
- Heavy Red Rain.  My attempt at creating a heavy variation of this weather without changing it's particle effect.
- Misty Heavy Rain.  This weather now uses the heavy rain effect while Misty Rain uses light rain.  Both versions have acidic variants too.
- Hurricane-Monsoon.  Very terrible storm with lots of rain, wind, and lightning.  Also has an acidic variant.
- Poison Swamp Gas.  Be careful, the swamp has a small chance of 15-30 minutes of greenish gas to occur that will cause gas damage.

Intention/Effect of this Mod:

Weathers will be corrected of inconsistencies while adding variation.  I wanted all aspects of the weather to feel more alive in-game.  The varied effects within the new weathers/seasons should make for some interesting gameplay.  All of this while possibly getting a gain from the reduced dust.  Most players would never experience these weathers because some areas of the map just weren't suited for a base at all.  Now they'll at least be able to farm enough not to starve.  In exchange for these various minor buffs, you'll have more acid rain, acid water, acid ground, and poison gas to worry about.  Some zones will be effected more than others.  Particularly, you might not notice much change in the more popular zones.  Overall it should be slightly easier finding a decent location for your base, but travelling long distances across multiple zones can be more difficult.  You also might not have to spam quite so many water wells.  Water collectors are not as useless anymore, even in deserts!

Installation:

Download, unzip, place mod file with it's folder directory into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kenshi\mods

Compatibility:

NOT Compatible with other mods that alter BIOMES, WEATHER, SEASON, EFFECTS, BIOME_GROUP, or ENVIRONMENT_RESOURCES in the FCS the same way I have.

Compatible with 50% Reduced Particle Effects mod, as I did not touch the particle effects themselves.

Please do not ask, "Is this compatible with...?"  That can only be verified by comparing the changes with the FCS.  I'm fairly new to Kenshi and not aware of everything out there.  If you'd like to post a confirmation on compatibility, that would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks for checking out my work.  I hope you like it!
