Selectively replaces some of the duller sounding gunfire effects with their punchier counterparts from other games with the core principle of exclusively sampling from other Halo media, serving as a sort of "Greatest hits of Halo Gunfire sounds".

Halo has always been hit or miss with sound effects. When they hit, however, they fuckin nail it. As such, the goal of this mod was to compile the best sounding versions of every gunfire sound effect (I understand this is subjective in some ways), and replace the weaker versions of said sound effects with them. The core philosophy of this mod is to stick to the halo games and media as the source for every sound effect.

I am actively thinking of ways to update these, and suggestions are welcome. If a specific sound effect left untouched in this mod still sounds weak to you, I could make that a priority.

I would like to update this mod with changes to some of the anniversary sounds as well as halo 4's massively disliked sounds when we get the mod tools to facilitate such changes more easily. I am worried, however, that such mods would trigger anticheat, due to the nature of how sound effects are formatted for those games, which would be disappointing considering how nice it is that this mod is currently useable online.

REACH:

  • Assault Rifle: H4 AR sounds
  • DMR: H5 DMR sounds
  • Magnum: mix of reach sounds/H5 classic magnum sounds
  • Turrets: H5 Turret
  • Needle Rifle: Mix of reach/h5 carbine.
  • Sabre Machine gun: tweaked and muffled version of H5 DMR
  • Campaign Falcon main gun: H5 Warthog turret
  • Spiker: Mixed with the Spiker's sound from the Halo Landfall trailers for more punch
  • Warthog Chaingun: HCEA Warthog Chaingun
  • Plasma Repeater: HCEA Plasma Rifle
  • Needler: Mix with H2A MP needler 
  • Banshee Main guns: mixed with Reach banshee guns and H2A Plasma rifle
  • Ghost guns: mixed with H2A Plasma Rifle
  • Wraith Cannon: Mixed with H2A MP Wraith Cannon


    HALO 3 and H3ODST:
    
  • Assault Rifle: Same as Reach
  • Brute Spiker: Same as Reach
  • Portable Machine Gun Turret: Same as Reach
  • Hornet Machinegun: H2A MP turret
  • Chopper Autocannon: Mixed with H2A campaign Brute Shot
  • Carbine: H2A campaign
  • Battle Rifle: H2A campaign (though it's hard to notice since most of H3's BR sound is the gun mechanism being very loud)
  • SMG: H2A MP SMG
  • Sniper Rifle: Halo Reach Sniper
  • Magnum: CEA Magnum 
  • Needler: Mix with H2A MP needler
  • Beam Rifle: H2A Beam Rifle
  • Brute Shot: H2A Campaign Brute Shot
  • Sentinel Beam: Mix of Sentinel Beam, Reach Focus Rifle, and Plasma Pistol charged droning 
  • Mauler: Mix of pitch shifted mauler and H2A MP shotgun
  • Silenced SMG: Mix of H2A Battle rifle (only the initial pop) and vanilla Silenced Pistol
  • Silenced Pistol (Automag): Mix of H2A BR (like the SMG) and vanilla silenced SMG 
  • Banshee Main guns: mixed with Reach banshee guns and H2A Plasma rifle
  • Banshee Bombs: Halo Reach banshee bombs 
  • Ghost guns: mixed with H2A Plasma Rifle 
  • Wraith Cannon: Mixed with H2A MP Wraith Cannon





Installation:
Extract the file into your sounds directory located at "main MCC directory in your steam folder>(relevant game)>fmod>pc"
Replace when prompted
