Note the title. This IS NOT Reach Evolved by Vadam.

This mod is going to be on hiatus from now on. I apologise to those of you who were enjoying this mod. Should you wish to pick up where I left off, feel free to do so.

For many of us, Halo Reach could be summarised as "my childhood". We forced ourselves through the crushing pains of the legendary and LASO campaign. We boasted to our friends about it. We grinded the playlists, scraping together credits for that beautiful, beautiful Mark V helmet. We spent many hours replicating Youtube videos of Halo Reach glitches, recorded with a camcorder from a CRT TV. We even spent hours going through those theatre clips for that perfect action angle, only to get bored and play Infection for 19 hours. Wait, that last one maybe a bit too personal...
But, well. That's the issue, isn't it? We've done these things. We did them til we couldn't anymore. We've been from that dingy little base in the middle of the mountains, to the smouldering wastes where we watched our beloved hot pink Spartan meet their end.
Reach Combat Evolved aims to redo Halo Reach, freshening the experience for older players, but also accommodating new players. The end goal: a complete overhaul of Halo Reach.

"An ambitious effort that's still very much a work in progress, the Reach Combat Evolved Mod aims to overhaul the Halo: Reach campaign."
-Bogdan Robert Mateș, gamewatcher.com

"This mod is a reimagining of Halo Reach’s campaign, featuring modifications to weapons, vehicles, difficulty balancing and more."
-John Papadopoulos, dsogaming.com

As I have noted that Vengeful Vadam is releasing his Reach Evolved mod onto PC, I will be changing the scope of this mod so as to not compete with his. I've a lot of respect for Vadam and the work he has done over the past decade, and would hate to chomp on his bit.
With this said, see below for a revised list of intended features. Please note that the mod will be started from scratch to accomodate these changes.

Campaign Overhaul
My goal with the new arsenal is to integrate the weapon variants of many of the main Halo series games. This will mean multiple variants of some weapons. The 60-round MA5B from Combat Evolved, alongside the 32-round MA5C, the DMR existing alongside the Battle Rifle, and so on. There are some obvious issues with this; telling weapons of the same type apart, either weapon making the other obsolete, and so on.  However, these weapons will only appear in logical locations. For example, the MA5B will only appear on the missions Pillar of Autumn and Lone Wolf, as this variant of the Assault Rifle was standard issue for the Marines onboard the Pillar of Autumn, whilst it wasn't standard issue for the UNSC Army of Reach. Likewise, the M6G will only be encountered late game, as will the BR55 Battle Rifle. All weapons will be present in the final version of Lone Wolf, as I have a bit of a grand idea in mind.

With the UNSC vehicle array, I intend to rework how eh... tanky they are. I've always seen the UNSC-Covenant ground war as a matter of Quality vs Quantity, with the UNSC often fighting against an enemy with a much MUCH larger amount of vehicles. The fact they, at least somewhat, hold their own in a ground battle against the Covenant leads me to think the vehicles employed by the UNSC are more hardy than we give them credit for. The Covenant will be the other side of that spectrum, with more numerous and faster vehicles.

Finally, the AI. Oh lordy. Fixing the AI of a Halo game in general is a massive chore. Stopping them rocketing themselves, making them drive more into enemies and less into walls, stopping them from running into walls or sandbag barriers. Honestly, I don't know if I'll ever finish this one. I'll sure as hell try though.
So far, I've reworked the AI's combat behavior so it relies more on its nearby allies. Additionally, the enemy will now fire as if they WANT to kill you, instead of letting loose 3 shots before holding their fire for 5 seconds. Battlegrounds will be a hailstorm of bullets and bolts and... uh, lasers I guess?

Winter Contingency
As of the 4th of January 2020, this mission is in a state which I would finally deem finished. At least in the basic sense.
The weather and lighting of the map have been redone to be more dramatic, enemy types and amounts have been altered, and all changes to weaponry that I wished to make, have been made.

ONI Sword Base
ONI Sword Base was finished on the 10th of January 2020. It is currently in a state with wich I am content. Enemy unit amounts were multiplied. Friendly unit amounts were multiplied. More SPARTAN IIIs were deployed to defend the "sensitive" facility, as it should be. And Hunters found out their backs are quite vulnerable to being climbed on by Noble 6. Sucks to be them.

This mod was created with HEROIC difficulty in mind. Each encounter, each weapon, and AI behavior have been tuned for gameplay on Heroic difficulty. I wholly recommend playing it on this difficulty with no skulls on for the intended experience.

This campaign has not been designed nor tested for gameplay on Legendary, and I claim no responsiblity for any broken controllers or popped blood vessels.
Likewise, this mod has not been designed for Easy or Normal. Those who play on those difficulties will find it... underwhelming.

Important Notices
First and foremost, I wish to point out the obvious: don't use this with the anti-cheat system enabled. The game doesn't like it, 343i don't like it, and I'm sure the automated anti-cheat system won't like it either. 343i provided a means of disabling the anti-cheat system for a reason; I'm sure you can work out the rest.

Final file size of this mod is projected to be over 10GB in size. This is not something I can change, due to the nature of how the missions are constructed.

Additionally, changes can be expected to the game very often. Patches, rebalances, new content. Especially as its so soon since launch day. This mod WILL become outdated. Often. Due to the way the campaign is constructed, its a time-consuming process to create mods for it. Updates may take several days for me to complete if and when the modded missions i've provided become outdated. Please understand this.

Unfortunately, I don't believe you'll be able to use this with the Microsoft Store edition of the game. The reason for this is simple: Microsoft Store downloads its apps and games into a hidden folder called WindowsApps. This folder is inaccessible to even administrators. You need to take ownership of the folder through security features to even access it, and even then you are unable to actually create folders or replace files. Should a means of doing so come to light, I will be quick to add instructions to do so. But for now? Modding isn't possible for the MSS version of MCC. I apologise.

Finally, legal stuff. Whilst I have indeed produced the files included in this mod, with my own time and abilities, I cannot claim ownership of them. These files rightfully belong to 343i. I think. That or Bungie. Either way, it isn't mine. Its not my place to tell me how you can and can't use the files. Upload 'em elsewhere, modify them, claim they're yours. I can't stop you, and I won't.
That's not to say do it however, that would just be mean.
