For future & returning readers: while the environment drawing distance is fixed quite nicely by this mod & and it's ini settings, there is an annoying limitation with NPC drawing distance. For example, while hunting deers, they pop out while in medium range of your bow. And more annoying, when you close in to them, they pop in back with full health :/
To fix that edit the Ini/ge3.INI, as below. For example to double the drawing distance. Entity.ROI=8000.0
Alternativately, an easier approach & faster approach is to use the Highest Settings Ini to automate this.
There was no negative performance on a high end machine (RTX 3090, Intel 6700K)
Ok I'll check that to verify. Have you updated your sound hardware to double check the driver? If you use steam, download driver booster from the store and run that. I don't recommend letting it update display related drivers but see if it has a sound or game related drivers. You can do a free update of a limited number of drivers before having to purchase it. It will add to your library under tools I believe. I have it in my favorites but moved it there myself.
Nope, always installing/updating latest drivers from vendor's website. iirc you can hear that crackling sound e.g. at Silden near the stone circle walking towards the city. The crackling water sound is pretty annoying there.
If somebody still plays...please help me...i made everything as written, but when game starts its written compiling effect....Failed! I can play the game but i am not sure that there is any change in the graphics:D
Hi, So then you used the reshade with sweetfx version? Did you install it as directed by just placing the files in the game folder or did you make any other changes? Normally if the compiling effects fail it means the effects are not running correctly due to an alteration in the files. Did you attempt to upgrade the reshade after placing the original files or mix the two setups?
Ah that's the issue. The enb and sweetfx cannot be combined with the reshade with sweetfx as they are different versions. You want to delete the files you installed and only install one of the two. If you install the reshade with sweetfx, just install its files alone. If you install the enb with sweetfx, then you can include the add-in files as they are for the enb version. But in both cases do not overlap the enb with sweetfx and the reshade with sweetfx. Only install one or the other.
Hi and thanks. Yeh Geforce Experience doesn't have all the game settings for alot of the games. You need to do it through the Nvidia Control Panel.
If you goto Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D Settings. Under Global Settings, you can enable DSR for your games and Windows there, you just check off the boxes and apply it as a global setting. Once that's enabled there, if you run any of your games and check the resolutions it will have the DSR resolutions listed. Or if you check the Windows Display settings, you should be able to increase the computers resolution with the DSR resolutions. If I enable it there I can actually push my res in Windows or (my games) Gothic3 as high as 5760x3240. Some older games won't go that high, but once DSR is enabled in the global settings the higher resolutions should then be available for most, including Gothic3 in the ingame resolutions settings.
After that then Geforce Experience will list the additional resolutions if you click the wrench icon next to the optimize button, then check the resolutions, it will include the additional DSR resolutions that the games can be set at. Some games do have maximum resolutions that they can goto but you'll see what I mean once you check. The games that aren't supported by Geforce Experience won't be listed there, but like I said you just check the ingame resolution manually for those ones.
Some Nvidia cards don't support DSR ( mainly laptop GPU's) but if it's supported by the GPU you'll find the setting there.
Thanks for the fast answer! But not fast as me. Actually I play G2 L'HiverDE with YetAnotherRenderer. It has better grafik then G3, even with alpha-textures and ini-tweak. It's the lack of such a renderer. What a pitty. But your preset after all, is an alternative. And cleanup+cleanmem will be blessings too. I will soon try your advise. I wondered why it didn't work. I indeed skipped the ingame settings. Once again, I suggest to additionally make it clear in the discription.
Eee Gads! I didn't think anyone was still playing this game, but me! Then I came across this jewel on Nexus! Awesome! Thanks for all the work you've done, are doing, for others enjoyment! Sub'ed for your YT vids and going through them atm. Can't believe that there are only 8 posts/comments. Very good and detailed vids on how too, as well. Excellent work!
Also, came across your "CleanMem vid and about to go through that. Interesting. Not sure if that has anything to do with my frames intermittingly stopping/freezing and then making me spin in all directions or not. I have just been living with it thinking it's an old game issue. As for the patch, I have 1.75.14 version.
Thanks Ya I need to get back to this one. I enjoyed it quite abit but I started having an issue with my system so I hadn't done more video's for it, but I plan on getting back to it and completing the full run.
Wow! That was fast, Lord Carinth! I hadn't even finished editing and didn't really expect a reply for several days/months. I'm really glad you made those vids. Yeah! I know all about PC issues. Not so good with software, but hardware, I can deal with. Just about to do a new PC build with a hobbit theme as my present MB is about to expire. Going with a 3600X and MSI X570 Creation MB. Got all the components except the MB. Just waiting for my payment to get on the books and then I'll order it.
Glad I could help. I don't always get back so quick, but I try to keep an eye on things. I've been slowly updating too, but takes time. Think I've got most of the kinks out, but computers can be finicky. Your's sounds cool, a hobbit theme, does that mean you're customizing the case with hobbit based artwork? Be interesting to see. Good cpu and mb btw. Really good benchmark ratings for those.
If you have the space in your case, look at the Noctua cpu coolers. I just added an nh-u14s (thing just barely fit) but my cpu temp sits in the 30's now on idle. I was really having a bad overheat issue before with my old cooler, but now under load it's never gone higher than 65 (that's O/C even) 55 if not O/C 'd. I know amd's run a little hotter but unless you are going water cooled, it's the best cpu cooler I ever owned. My PC run's totally different now, in a good way
Actually, I'm modifying the whole case. It's a Corsair Graphite Series 760T White Full Tower. I painted the interior white as well. I didn't like the dark interior. The side panels are getting replaced with tempered glass. One side is (hopefully) getting etched with a Hobbit looking into the case and the offside will (hopefully) be stained glass with a Hobbit carved in Red Cedar looking out. The front of the case will be Red Cedar with a carving of the front of a Hobbit house and a door that opens into his home all in miniature. This goes into the sections where you normally have your drive bays. The top has a white area and it's getting painted with a very tall tree and one of those Hobbit Eagles flying near it.
The interior of his home is lit with LED's and shows a livingroom and at the back, the kitchen and dining area with fake rooms on either side. Lol! It's hard to show all of that in the space of two empty drive bays but so far I've managed. It will also house a BRD in the top bay. (Third bay).
I'm planning either a custom loop for cooling or and AIO that I think is coming with my MB purchase as a promotion.
Anyway, getting back to Gothic 3, I finally tried the "alternative" play and my game is doing all kinds of weird glitches so I think it's corrupted and I'll have to start all over again. Not that I care all that much as I like to game. Ha! Ha! I probably have over 13,000 hrs in DDDA alone, when I'm not on IGN in the PC section.
Wow, that sounds like quite the undertaking. Should look pretty sharp when it's finished. I hope it all turns out for you Try posting a pic when it's done, I wouldn't mind seeing it.
If you're interested, I actually have a whole thread on it that includes pics on the IGN PC boards. You don't even need to be a member or join to view them. I'm jawnTEM over there. You can even send me a PM too, or if it's easier and allowed, I can post a link to the thread.
As to your ENB, it's an outstanding improvement to Gothic 3, even more so after I went off the "Alternative Balancing". I highly endorse!
Wow, the work you put into your PC. As far as the Dwarf language if you're still looking, this may help https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Khuzdul Your stuff is quite amazing.
Thanks also for the comment. That alternate balancing never worked right for me either, but I'm glad you like the mod
I bookmarked the page to read abit more when I get the chance, thanks Excellent work.
Oh Wow! That's exactly what I wanted! Carinth, you are the bomb! Thank you so much, and thank you for taking the time and also to look at my stuff!
I was going to use the letters on the top where the tree and Eagle go, so this is a mega help! Do you happen to know where I can get an image of one of those Eagles that Gandalfe called for rescue, do you? Man, you've been so much help already I hate to ask; but, it's one part of the art that I can't seem to get right my prelim sketches. I've been using a Bald Eagle and just painting them brown but it doesn't look right.
I intend to make a vid of it and post to YT when the project is finally completed.
Great, was hoping that would help. I'll check out the vid once you get it all done, I'd like to have a look
So you're looking for pics of the Great Eagles? Monsters Vault has some nice pics http://monstersvault.com/vaults/great-eagles-lord-of-the-ring/ Or you could do a search, Great Eagles LOTR and flip over to images in the search and that should give you quite a few variations so you can get all the angles for them. Here's how you want to paint them https://taleofpainters.blogspot.com/2013/04/tutorial-how-to-paint-great-eagles-from.html That will help with the color layout for you. Also if you look up some of the older MERP stuff (Middle Earth Role Playing) You may find some useful illustrations and such. Hope that helps, I look forward to seeing more of your work
Not everyone has 1.75. You'd be surprised how many don't know about the 1.75 fan made update. Plus doing the LAA on 1.60 won't interfere if you later update it to 1.75. Just use it according to your version.
Hi, I would really like to use this, but I've been having issues running the game with it. It seems to be some issue I'm having with sweetfx, as when I tried just sweetfx before this I ran into issues as well. Whenever I run the game with this, it starts, then I get a black screen and an error message saying: "Gothic3 engine FATAL ERROR: Module: Gothic 3 requires a minimum Video Card, with support for Multiple Render Target (MRT) !" I've got a GTX960, so I would think that'd be sufficient. I have the community patch, the update to the community patch, the quest pack, the quest pack update, and the content mod, and the game runs fine with all of them, but as soon as I add sweetfx or sweetfx + enb from here, I run into this issue. I tried all of your troubleshooting tips in the description, but none of them seem to help. Any assistance you can offer would be appreciated, as I would love for Gothic 3 to look as good as it does in your screenshots. Edit: Disregard this comment, I simply spent too much time trying to fix sweetfx before I tried this already set-up combo of them. I forgot to try something with this that I'd tried before, and which was also mentioned in the video in the description. Simply had to change dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll due to having Windows 10. Game looks awesome, nice work!
The advanced options menu is found by going to options, detail then selecting custom. I've added an extra pic for menu settings. One for basic, the other for community patched. Didn't realize I was missing the one pic.
The menu will look like this https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1342/images/3/3-1522855229-1095090168.jpeg
If you install the community patch linked on the description http://www.madvulture.de/wp/archives/440 It will look like this https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1342/images/3-0-1486526517.jpg
The community patch seems to take a minute to start up when first installing it, but it will install fine. When running it with the patch, don't use the alternate balancing option, it's buggy. Make the distance adjustment after adding the patch, if you decide to patch it.
Get back to me if you need anything else.
Thanks again.
Edit: I was checking my original mod here http://www.moddb.com/games/gothic-iii/addons/enb-and-sweetfx-for-gothic-3 and it seemed to show some different settings. All of the menus are different now, both in vanilla and patched. I'll need to update that.
Hi, You likely just need an alternate d3d9 launcher. Open the altd3d9 folder that came with the mod, and copy and paste one of the four available and paste the copy over the one in the game folder. Then try your game out again. Let me know if that helps.

I'll pin this.
You have a great day

I tried that multiple times but it leads to sound bugs (crackling) and more stutter in various regions of Myrtana, regardless of your hardware.
iirc you can hear that crackling sound e.g. at Silden near the stone circle walking towards the city. The crackling water sound is pretty annoying there.
With what program did you archive them?
Winrar, try updating your winrar

and which one you suggest to delete?
I deleted the enb files, i like it now with reshade and it works! Thanks a lot!
Or is there any special approach?
You do a nice work!
