Hey, I'm not sure if you tried it yourself already, but even if I remove the cards, the "star" still stays in the menu for the cards. I've still uploaded it, but to remove the star, I think a whole new save is required for this. As I could nowhere find a setting in Hyne to deactive the star. Once it's their it seems to stay even if some cards get switched to "not known".
Perfect! Since the (barely) remastered edition had cheats, but disabled achievements, this was great as a hidden 'new game plus' mode! Specifically, I wanted the cards and didn't want to do the dreadful grind. Thanks muchly!
After I finished Norg and safed the Garden, I wanted to start with the CC Group Triple Triad card quest. Unfortunately the first one CC Jack just told me about how there is a special card club in the Garden, yet he didn't want to play cards. So I thought I did something bad with unlocking all unique cards, but in fact there just need to be more games played in the Garden. At least that did the trick for me.
I additionally forwarded the main quest to complete Fisherman's Horizon, but that wasn't really necessary. As soon as CC Jack tells you about the card club start to play some matches in Balamb (best with the boy circling around). Sooner or later, Jack should offer you a match. :)
You start in this savegame with 17 wins against that kid in Balamb Garden, but I am unsure if they add up or if you simply have to play 15 card games after having access to the "There is a card club" dialogue from CC Jack. It might be fairly necessary to play 15 card games, after you heard this dialogue for the first time.
