Hey GreenThumb2 - these mods make this game significantly more fun for somebody who really "gets" the mechanics of this game. I have my own modified difficulty files that I use, continuously tweaking things each playthrough to hone in on the perfect difficulty (for me). Thanks for posting this and your other mods!

Your Readme.txt asked for feedback and I do have one comment that I think is worth sharing - when you get control of Sazh and Vanille at the Vile Peaks (the part where you have to turn the electricity on to activate the panels in the previous room) you first see the Bomb enemy (m066)
The Bomb heals itself with its attacks, and if you have the difficulty increased even modestly they can be almost impossible to kill before self destructing (and killing you in the process.) I'd suggest lowering their HP and STR % increase to half of what other enemies get, at most.

Also, in general, the higher options for HP, STR, and ATB make the game devastatingly difficult in my experience, particularly in the earlier stages of the game when you don't have as many options available for strategy. You can be forced to fight through many fights with a SEN/MED, restricting viable strategies and making fights a slog. I think a better option for most players looking to challenge themselves (and to break out of COM/RAV/RAV monotony) is at the half way point between your lowest options for HP, STR, and ATB and their default values. I do like having the higher options available for the truly masochistic though.

It would be easy to make a lower value for HP/STR/ATB, although if the lowest values are still too difficult for someone, there's nothing to say they have to increase all three.  Just the one or two of the three would provide a harder, but not quite as difficult experience.

With regards to the bomb enemy, I did nerf it somewhat.  I decreased the damage from it's explosion to roughly equivalent to the improvement it gets from the higher STR/MAG, so it does about the same damage as the default, although it's normal physical attacks still do more damage.  You should be able to survive a single explosion if you are at full HP (or perhaps after a bit of grinding).

Regarding the Bomb enemy, I think that my own version of the Stat/HP files were bringing forward the stat buffs but not the self destruct nerf. This was mostly verified by using the vanilla stat files and the fight was much more reasonable. I didn't know that other things (like ability damage) was changed in these files - my bad!

Just to make a correction in something I said...  Somewhere along the line the bomb enemy self destruct nerf was not carried forward into later versions of the hard mode mod.  The last version to have it was 1.0.3.  This was unintentional and I will have to add it back in.

Hey GreenThumb2, thanks for all the work! I'm trying to add the "Display Any Weapon" mod to work with this one. I feel like I've done the right steps, and continue to get this error message- " 'FFXIIIwdbLoad' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file ".

Would you happen to know the right steps in order to make this pair correctly with your mod? I haven't been able to find anything helpful yet, thanks.

In the base Gameplay Tweaks mod, there is a file called FFXIIIwdbLoad.bat.  By placing the "Display Any Weapon" mod in the same directory as the Gameplay Tweaks files, it should be able to find and use the FFXIIIwdbLoad.bat file to install the mod.

I don't understand how to install the mods to the game and from what I've seen no one talks about it any where, can someone help me out?

There is a .bat file for each of the changes.  Just double-click the ones you want to install.  The first one will take some time as it need to find and unpack some of the game files before it can install.

Hey, I am getting this error code, is there any way you can help?

    C:\Users\Gadal\Desktop\FF13MODS\13tweaks>Mod_ParadigmShift.bat

This mod shortens the paradigm shift animation.  It removes most of the
animation but leaves the hud update and sound along with a quick
motion by the party members.  The camera also does not shift position.

    Press (C)ontinue, or (Q)uit: C
    Select (S)hort Paradigm Shift, or (O)riginal: S
Error: ':RENAME' command.  Unable to locate record 'form_change01'.
    End MOD ShortAnimation.txt
Press any key to continue . . .

form_change01 is the name of the animation.  The way the animation is shortened is by renaming the animation name so the game can't find it.  It looks like you might have run this mod twice.  While it should have put things back to the original names prior to changing it again, perhaps that didn't happen.  In any event it probably installed correctly.

Just want to say that I am replaying this game purely for this hard mode mod and I am enjoying the combat so much more! Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Is there a XIII-2 hard mode mod? If so I might purchase that game to try as well :)

A screenshot would be nice.  But it's something on your end.  Windows, or your anti-virus software.  You will need to disable or add an exception to whatever is blocking the mod from running.

Hello! do I need to download the entire file again to get the 1.1.14 update? if so, will this reset all the tweaks I've made? I'm only really interested in the new running speed feature.

Yes, you should just download the new file and overwrite any duplicate files in your existing mod directory.  It won't change any of the mods you have already installed.

Is there an error or does anything happen?  I'm trying to get an idea where the process gets interrupted.  The two files you mention are virtually identical in the way they function so offhand I don't see why one would work and the other not.

Another thing to try - just run (double click) the batch file "FFXIIIwdbLoad.bat".  It should ask for a filename.  Type in "FFXIII_ModRun_15.txt" (no quotes) and see if that runs.

Literally nothing happens, my pc just makes a 'cling' sound, no error notification or anything. I've been testing mods on other games to see if the problem is in my pc, but they work just fine. My other ff13 mods like the hd model swap works fine too. The bat file for the tier3weapon125 from this mod works fine too, the rest just won't run at all including the runspeed bat. I made no changes at all in any of the gameplay teaks mods b4 or after I downloaded the updated version 1.1.14 so all my ff13 mods are still the same, and yes I can still run ff13 with all my mods unchanged, I'm just not able to make changes now.  'FFXIIIwdbLoad.bat' this won't open either lol only the adamantoise and tier3weapon bat files that still functions. I also tried to run it as administrator, still not opening. ff13tool.exe is still in the same directory along with all the uninstall files.

Open a command prompt window and navigate to your mod directory (or alternately in Windows file explorer, when viewing your mod directory, in the top field that shows your path, click on the white space to the right of the path.  This should highlight the path, then just type CMD and hit enter.  This should open a command prompt window already in the mod directory).  Then type in 'Mod_RunSpeed.bat' (omitting the quotes ').  The window should now remain after the batch file is run and hopefully you will see some sort of error.

This is what is showing, there doesn't seem to be an error, when I run the game, I don't see an increase in run speed, the only change is that when I span the camera left/right while running, the character model looks further away. Is this what the mod is supposed to do? I still can't access the bat file when double clicking. Is it possible to download previous versions of the mod?

That's strange that you can run it from the command prompt, but it doesn't seem to work correctly when you double click.  Seems like something is blocking it from running properly.  I don't really have an answer for you other than to just run it through a command prompt.

As for the run speed, if you look at the description page it says "The actual animation doesn't change, only the distance travelled with each step."  It is therefore difficult to notice unless you pick out a specific path to run and either time how long it takes or count the number of steps.  Running the same path before and after the mod should result in about 87% of the number of steps or the amount of time.

Do you know what version of the mod you were running before?  I can then determine what changes were made and maybe figure out what the problem may be.

Version 1.1.11 is what I had before
      hard mode version 1.1.4

I have the mod customweapon. The one which allows to create weapons using the character's unused dummy weapon, and also changes the lvl up to 126. Is it possible that this mod is incompatible with the gameplay teaks's tier3weapon125 bat file? since both these mods changes the max lvl of a weapon. They are in the same directory (as required for customweapon mod to work) though I never used the tier3weapon125 mod (cuz I can't run it) maybe something in these files both allowing to exceed the max lvl is messing up something. I've also tried turning off my anti virus to see if this is blocking me from opening the bat file, but no, still can't open it when double clicking.

Also, I do notice the running speed difference now, but only if I'm in Eden cuz the area is linear, it's hard to notice on gran pulse cuz of the bigger area. But there's definitely a change in the distance of the camera while running. I think you mentioned in the description or txt file that increasing the run speed over 15% would lag the camera behind, but this still seem to be the case for me even though 15% is the only option in the mod. I kind like the look of it actually, it makes it look like old school FF character models while running cuz they look smaller.

is it just me, or does the Enemy Stat modifier somehow enhance allies' stats as well or....? IN early battles, I can completed multiple battles just under the target time, even on mini bosses. I also applied the Option 1 Enemy HP and their faster ATB rate 30%

It shouldn't.  The stats modifiers are by individual enemy and do not include the main characters.  Also for ATB rate, the main characters should use the ATB rate associated with the number of ATB bars they have, not the generic one used for enemies.

EDIT: I just went through older posts here, and aparently you don't actually have to run the FF13tool.exe yourself at all is that correct? So all the mod files i ran are just installed?  If so, grand! and i apologize for taking up your time^^

Greetings, First of all thanks for the mod! it's all got installed without a hitch(running the individual batch files for the mods i wanted worked as expected)
except for the last step. the ''ff13tool.exe'' does absolutely nothing. not running it normally or as administrator. it just doesn't start up, all i get is a quick flicker on the taskbar. I've gone through the readme and the installation guide and either i'm to dumb to understand how to use it(very possible), or something's not working right. any help would be appreciated!^^

for reference i'm using the steam version of the game. and not sure if it's important but i also successfully installed ''HD Full Motion Video'' ''HD project'' ''HD Models Plus'' ''Higher quality cutscene audio'' before i tried to install this gameplay tweaks mod

All you need to do is run the .bat file for the mods you want to install.  It does the rest.
