While I really appreciate this mod, and it does provide the Japanese version of BGMs for the game, I think some criticism is due, because it seems odd to me that files in this mod are looped within the audio data and have fade out instead of being direct import of the PS3 files, converted to vorbis with loop info set in SCD header. I would prefer those files to be as close as possible to original from PS3 version, which might still use SCD header like any other SQEX game, the audio files are however encoded in MPEG Layer III format, thus it's not that simple as using the same files for PC version of the game, since it does not include libraries for decoding that format.
Update: After countless hours trying to figure out SCD header, where neither tool available didn't work, with even audio files converted with Nova Chrysalia mod manager tool caused issues once it reached the loop point, I figured out that it simply does not go well with loop end being set to last sample of the audio file, and once I slightly shifted offset of the loop, it no longer cause any issues. I also set volume level to be exact same as in original files rather than 0.7
It was adventure and half learning about something seemingly simple as converting audio files, but I have it done thanks to tools provided by FFXIII Modding Community, and now I can say that I have proper audio mod with Japanese version BGMs, directly converted from PS3 files, including correct loop data.
I never said there is fade out when the BGM is playing in-game. At this point, I don't remember how the mod files actually behaved in-game if spending enough time for the audio to reach the loop.
I just pointed out this trivial fact that files of this mod seems like recorded playback from vgmsteam instead of original file in its original length converted to vorbis. That's the only problem I had with this.
What I've noticed though after moving to XIII-2 and extracting it's data, is that unlike XIII, Steam version of XIII-2 does include JP version of those tracks.
While XIII-2 PC audio files are also encoded in vorbis, the volume level is slightly lower though, SCD header is different, and sample rate is 48 kHz compared to 44,1 kHz used in XIII. I however no longer have XIII installed to test if XIII-2 audio files would be compatible with XIII.
I was about to upload them as optional files requiring this mod back then, I however jumped to conclusion too early. Problem is that I primarily tested those using vgmstream plugin, and while file is played correctly in vgmsteam with seamless loop, in-game loop is for some reason not the same, and there is split second mismatch, which I couldn't figured out how to align correctly.
Hi, Im trying to uninstall all my mod files and I have no idea how to uninstall these. It would be a temporary uninstall so I can unpack the game on Nova Chrysalia.
Late reply, but just for everyone else to know. You can't uninstall this mod. It unpack the entire white_imgc.win32.bin data archive replace 3 audio files with those found in jpn vo_music files folder, and re-pack everything back without keeping the original files as backup.
Thus if you didn't make backup of the entire data archive that have 1.5GB, only way to restore, is to verify integrity of game files through Steam and re-download everything that have been altered.
IMHO the backup if ever necessary could have been done with few extra command lines in mod's batch file before it's issued to delete the original files and copy the Japanese version in their place.
Great work! Trying to make this compatible with Final Fantasy XIII - 4K Remastered and I'm asking if that mod already includes something like this or do I need to merge both to have both songs in Japanese.
This is a standalone mod. It has nothing to do with the cutscene files, so it does not change the ending song. It should be compatible with the 4K remaster, but I haven't tested it.
Sorry for the late reply. I have been busy with life lately.

I tried to install this mods by clicking the .bat file and the command prompt stuck at "extracting old music files..."
I wait almost around 30 minutes but nothing happened.
How long will this process takes?

Where do I find the files that were installed?

Could you make a modding for the Japanese interface?
Thank you.
I was only able to make this thanks to the great help of others. I am not a very skilled modder myself.
