The update to 3.2 has been a little mess, and for that I apologize. Issues with the application of the Ignore Evade and Anti Libra augments getting removed from enemies crunched and messed with various files in certain areas, causing the game to crash. 3.2.1 is a temporary update that has the changes of 3.2, but has removed the deletion of Ignore Evade and Anti Libra on enemies (meaning they will still have these augments). These augments will be removed in the future when we can fix the process and ensure no files get negatively impacted along the way.
Additionally, Foreign Lands has moved away from Draklab installation and into using Vortex. You can find Vortex here: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/1?tab=description
When downloading 3.2.1 and beyond, the folders you would previously upload to Draklab are now zipped. After installing Vortex and following the readme.txt instructions for installing mods for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age (All easy stuff), you can simply drag and drop those zipped folders into the mods section of Vortex and install them in a similar fashion to how Draklab functioned. The readme.txt has a step-by-step list of installation instructions.
Why Vortex is better is because I no longer need to keep updating the FileSizeTable_US and you as the player will no longer need to worry about replacing yours with it (Though I have included a vanilla version of the file so that you can revert yours back to normal). The FileSizeTable was related to some other areas where the game was crashing, like at the Archades Aerodome, and was generally a pain for me to deal with and for you to install. Vortex does all this work for us, so no one needs to worry about it or suffer from crashing because of it.
**IF YOU ARE GETTING AN ERROR INSTALLING THE MOD** I've noticed a few players posting or PMing me that they had issues getting the mod to work. What I think is the most prominent issue is that players are not applying the files correctly, so please make absolutely sure that you're following these steps when installing Foreign Lands and let me know that you made sure to do this if you have an error with the mod beyond this:
There are several zipped folders inside the download: the standard, 1 license board, and with quickenings versions of the mod. Make sure you're NOT unzipping those folders and you ARE dragging 1 of them into your Vortex depending on the format you want to play in. You only need 1 of them.
If I know you did this step correctly, then it will help me a lot in helping you resolve additional errors in getting the mod to work.
It is supported. Please check my pinned post above for instructions on how to install the mod if you're still interested in trying the game. I'm sorry for how long it took to reply, but this mod has not been a priority for me in a long time. I try to check Nexus Mods every now and then, but it falls out of my perception easily.
Can you check if you're using the correct folder? The folder you download that's zipped, there are three different versions of the mod in that zipped folder, and one of those 3 is the one you want to use Vortex on, not zip folder that you gain from directly downloading of this page. Soon, I'll see if I can split up the files and have them as individual downloads.
Just wanted to say I'm enjoying this mod a lot, although I was expecting something way harder. So far (I'm about to go to Giruvegan), everything except some Marks has been stupidly easy. Normal monsters deal no damage, and I'm using equipment sold in shops most of the time. I come from Strugle for Freedom if that matters (I can't compare the difficulty to the base game bc I barely remember it)
Classes are very fun and refreshing.
Apothecary is one of my favourites, but Ultra Potion healing 8k with Pheasant Netsuke/Crown of Laurels is way too strong. Even without them it's a 5k global heal with no mana cost. I'd either make it a 1-person heal or heavily nerf the heal. There's no point in using White Magick heals having this.
Idol is another fav of mine. It's a very original and useful class. The only problem I found early game was Angelsong completely nullifying enemy attacks. The regeneration is just too strong. After checking the amount of ticks per minute on Cheat Engine, I saw that it was like 10 times faster than in the base game. I would heavily nerf it or put the Technique in the mid-game instead of the early-game. Magick Ballad is also very useful, and I like it being an alternative for parties without a Kannagi. The heal is ver strong but it needs a long time to apply to all members because of the animation, so I find much more balanced than the Ultra Potion (plus costs MP).
Onmyoji is another interesting and fun class. I love the fact that Measures are usable know. In fact, I find them very strong. My tank is a Basara+Onmyoji and not only he deals pretty good damage with basic attacks, he blocks most attacks from monsters that don't ignore evade, and his green and arcane spells are also pretty strong. I haven't gotten Elucid's Sexant yet, but I fear it will be way too strong with the Auto-HP Critical passive, since with this class combination I have Spellbreaker and Last Stand.
Kannagi is similar to the classic White Mage but with the addition to the much needed Bow Licenses (I hate mages with rods and staves). It's straightforward and has useful spells, although I barely used Cure early-game due to Angelsong and Cura/Curaga mid-game due to Ultra potion. Celebration+Spread is a very strong combo by the time you get it, because you can buff your entire party with buffs you wont find 'til way later.
One thing should be included in the description page is that playing the normal version of the mod (no mist abilities) means no Limit Breaks. I've read the docs and see they're very strong, so I dont think I'd even use them considering how easy the game has been up until now, but would be nice to state that.
Overall I'm having fun with this mod, I just wish normal encounters were a little more challenging. Perhaps I should've played with the just 1 board version of the mod, but I wanted to explare the many changes in the new jobs.
Hey, thanks for the comment! I like to check on here from time-to-time just to make sure the mod doesn't have any critical errors. Though I unfortunately haven't modded XII in a long time and haven't really had the drive to come back to it anytime soon.
Although you don't have access to quickenings by default, unlocking espers does give you mist charges you can spend on limit breaks, but if you're finding the game hasn't really challenged you, then it's fine to not use them of course.
If I do come back one day, I would want to revamp Foreign Lands completely with a remake.
Ive just found out about this mod recently but when i try to install it it says the mod is no longer supported and fails to install on Vortex. It also says Auto Installation only available from "ff12data" directory and to inform the mod author.
I have also tried this with and without the External File Loader and the LUA Loader but i just simply cant get it to install. If i force it to install "as is" it goes through but in game nothing is changed. Ive just run out of ideas on how to get this to work.
Apologizes for the long wait on a response. I'm not actively modding these days so I don't check nexus that often, but I'll reach out to the modders and see if someone can help me get the mod in working order if it's broken.
I figured out what the problem was. The Vortex download gives a zip file containing all 3 different builds and cannot install that way. I had to manual download, take out the build i want and manually place that build in vortex. It would probably would help if the 3 different build options were separate downloads for Vortex instead otherwise downloading to Vortex as is just cant work.
any word on plausible updates coming in the relatively.. near future? haven't given this a whirl in a while but would rather wait on a new update if something is in the works
It's honestly been quite a while since I last have checked on Nexus. I would like to hopefully keep checking back to at least address issues that could pop up for people, but I've honestly just been focusing on other things in life at this time. I had/have plans for a different FFXII mod and also wanted to eventually do some sort of "Foreign Lands Redone" with a fresh take on the concept, but modding XII has just not really been something on my mind in the last year and change.
I would like to eventually do something with it again, but I also got hired as a game designer, and spending your free time doing what you do for work can also be very taxing. I really hope there's a time where I get the drive to finish the two projects I would like to complete, but we'll just have to see.
With that said, I really can't promise I'll come back to it anytime soon.
So... I've been playing with this mod a bit so far. I've just hit Jahara and just got Larsa back in my party. Everything so far has been going fairly well. However there is one little issue I'm having. I can not for the life of me figure out where Decoy is located. It's definitely not in it's vanilla location, and I've not found it in any other shop or chest. So... I was wondering if someone could please let me know where it's located? Thank you in advance! Great mod though btw!!!
Hey! I know it's been a few days but wanted to reply. If you look in the zip folder for Foreign Lands, you'll see another folder that's called Spreadsheet. There's an excel file that tells you the location of everything in the game. For your specific question, it's from the clan shop when you hit Brave Companion rank.
Hmm i really wanted to get the mithuna gun for ashe so i farmed the materials for it and it turns out that even though its on the gun license, The weapon icon is a gun, and it requires ammo i instead have a gunblade ? which attacks like a sword :( is there any way i can remove the gunblade skin and bring the mithuna skin back, and make the weapon act as a gun like it's supposed to ? :(
hey for some reason my classes cant use their secondary job weapons even though i have enough of the item and the license unlocked, fran has the bows 4 talent yet still cant equip spellcasters yumi, none of my other classes can equip their secondary job weapons either :( *Edit* never mind im tired and being silly LOL
