If you are here to report a technical problem please provide the following information so I can help you the best I can:

    • What did you choose regarding full/limited navigation, flare gun/ied gadget and full/limited saving?
    • Have you installed the engine files? (These are essential)
    • Did you install the reshade?
    • Did you install any extra customisations?

    Hi,

First of all, thank you for this mod. It makes the game playable and visually more appealing. Definitely a lot of quality of life improvements !

Is there a way to tweak weapon durability ? x10 durability is better than the original game but I find it to be a bit much, they just never deteriorate at all atm. I would rather have x5 durability. 10x less malaria attacks is perfect though.

Please tell me weapon durability is an easy fix like changing a value in a config file or something :')

DO NOT USE THIS MOD FOR YOUR FIRST TIME!

If you're reading this looking to find a good mod for your first playthrough I would recommend Realism Plus (Tom's Mod) instead, while sometimes tedious the weapon jamming and malaria attacks add tension to the gameplay and can make combat more dynamic and exciting so I wouldn't use this mod unless those elements start to bother you. I actually switched to Realism Plus after playing the game with Chill Plus for a few hours and started enjoying the gameplay a lot more.

I think for me the two most tedious parts of the game are being stuck far away from a vehicle/bus with no fast travel and random patrolling vehicles instakilling you.

Vehicle upgrades are seriously underrated in this game's community, upgrading the car not only makes repairs faster but it also increases the vehicles durability by 50%, making it more difficult for those marauding jerks to blow up your vehicle. (modding the upgrade to add 100% more durability would be amazing)

I recommend against using the easy installer version, mostly because it doesn't let you choose the saturation level, if you look at pictures of Kenya (the real life inspiration for Far Cry 2) it does have beautiful lush parts but they are beautiful because of the contrast against the otherwise dull or plain landscape. I think I settled on 40% version of the saturation mod because Nvidia HDR/AutoHDR do a fantastic job of color grading the game to look better already, using the 100% version of the color mod makes the game look ridiculous (even with HDR off imo)

With FC2  Fixer set to 100FPS (overrides this mods 60FPS limit) I have 0 issues at all with bouncing NPCs or other such bugs, phone calls work fine. 100FPS feels WAY better.

So this mod changes the graphics which is fine, they do look great. But that badly impacts my performance, and installing any of the "Original Graphics" optional files doesn't really work, the game still lags a lot in dense grass spaces, while I don't have this performance problem in vanilla. So, if you're still around can you please upload just the saturation/colour scheme part as a standalone? so by default the game will still be performing like it's vanilla. It's really a great mod just a shame I can't really enjoy it cause of those graphical improvements.

Hi, if you've installed the 'Original Graphics' optional file then you already have what you're asking for! As far as I remember now, there are some other features that will affect performance, like some better textures, but I hope you're still able to enjoy the game.

Yeah, but like I've said, installing the 'Original Graphics' doesn't change the performance in any way, it's still laggy as hell. Isn't there a version of this mod but without those features that affect the performance? And thanks for answering.

This mod is amazing and if I could endorse it 100 times, I would.

I love realistic games, but it seems like a lot of games think arcade = realistic. If guns jammed every 2 mags you fire and exploded on the 10th mag, I'm pretty sure we'd be back to using bows and arrows. This mod makes weapons jam at a pretty reasonable pace (I took a PKM off an enemy and actually got to use enough ammo to have to reload before it jammed, in the vanilla game I had it jam on my 20th or so shot), and rebalances them pretty nicely as well.

Shotguns have a purpose, PKM can actually land successive shots into the same target, pistols give SMGs a run for their money as secondary weapons, and I actually ran 6P9+Silent Shotgun+PKM until I unlocked the Dragunov. The PKM and the Dragunov actually share ammo (and thus range/damage) irl, so it felt satisfying switching to my PKM and firing off short bursts to deal with annoying enemy snipers outside of shotgun/pistol range until I got the Dragunov, something very difficult to do with the PKM's original recoil.

I love pretty much all of the changes this mod makes to the game. Non-weapon upgrades unlocked early, IED/Flare Gun having their own slot, limited saving and navigation as an optional feature (most mods force such things), outpost timer, weapons found in safe-houses have decent durability, DLC weapons are given the accuracy/reliability upgrades they originally lacked for free and benefit from the ammo upgrades, machete kills are silent, pistols have extra ammo and damage, NPCs use more varied cars and weapons (I figured out the Silent Shotgun wasn't useless past 5 metres in this mod by taking it off an enemy and mowing down the entire railyard station with it while doing Michelle's buddy quest, including the sniper on the roof), increased damage for both the player and enemies (a wounded enemy I thought I had killed set himself up against a box, and when I moved into the enemy camp to resupply thinking I had cleared it, he fired a single blast with his sawn-off shotgun and insta-killed me at full HP. I was so proud of the mod I couldn't even be mad), etc etc.

The only "complaints" I have aren't even the mod's fault. Assault Rifles still climb up like crazy, for example, and now that the PKM got a recoil reduction it's even more apparent than in the vanilla game. I also wish weapons with the same caliber shared the same damage and range, but that's the game's own fault, this mod didn't mess with any of that, it just didn't fix it either.

Overall a 10/10 mod and I can't believe I played the game for so long without it.

Hey, so I'm trying to install the Realistic Combat with the Enhanced Textures addon and I'm a bit confused. You have it in the instructions to install the Textures addon first so I went through the process of creating the .fat and .dat folders and using them to replace the ones in the original FC2 directory. Then I went to install the customized Realistic Combat files, but according to your instructions, I should be replacing the entire original "data_win32" folder from the game files with the file from your mod. Would this not erase the new .fat and .dat files I created for the enhanced textures? I don't see a way to make them both work at the same time by doing this. Thanks!

Dear Boggalog,It's really touching to see that there are still people who are sticking to mods for such an old game, and thank you for your efforts for this game.
But I think I have some minor questions, first of all I downloaded the mod body and AI texture enhancement plugin at the same time, is it correct to overwrite each other after unpacking? I'm up and running now, I just want to know if something went wrong with what I'm doing. Then can you tell me how to change the FOV perspective and the number of enemies? I wasn't quite sure if it would be a problem to overwrite this mod that had been changed by someone else on the site, so I didn't do that.
I look forward to your reply and thank you again for your creation, I ask for your forgiveness if I am rude, my English is not very good so I used the machine translation.

    Hello Boggalog,

Could you remove the "Ubisoft" intro?

Does anyone know of a mod to restore "normal right-handed" weapons?

    Would that be possible?

It's curious that all this time there is nothing about it ...

I'm also looking for a way to modify the E key (Use by default) to put it on Enter and the right and left keys (for the watch) because these keys are blocked...

I tried Functional Outpost but apparently it bugs, because elements of the scenery (such as ammunition points) disappear and it is impossible to capture the guard posts.Have you tried ?

It's very possible to remove the Ubisoft into but I made the choice to leave it in! Seeing that animation is very nostalgic for me so I much prefer to keep it.

You can remove the intro movies yourself by adding this as a launch property: -GameProfile_SkipIntroMovies 1

And lots of people have asked about the weapons being the wrong way round but we can't edit any of the models or animations so there just isn't a way to get it done. Not yet at least!

If you want to go deeper into editing the controls then you're going to need to get into the files themselves. If you unpack the files then take a look at the file 'defaultusercontrols.xml' in \patch_unpack\config\. All the controls in there and if you read through the file you can hopefully track down what you need to edit. I haven't tried those changes myself so can't give any direct instructions.

And I haven't tried the Function Outposts myself, but I have tested the outpost editing files included in my mods as a customisation. It's made by the same author as Function Outposts but works a little bit differently. It worked fine for me but the author said that bugs are likely. It's all experimental stuff so expecting no bugs at all is kind of unrealistic.

    Hey Tom,
great MOD, but I got the following issue (but first your questions):
    1. full navigation / flare gun / full saving
    2. engine files installed
    3. reshade installed
    4. no extra customisations installed

The problem is: The game didn't recognized the buying of weapons, so the perks didn't work on them.
I can buy the perks (i.e. precision update) but in the main menu they didn't show up as attached to the weapon. It still says: buy the weapon to attach them.
I have a save files just before buying the weapon and shortly after if that helps.
    -----------------------
Update: Found out, there is more trouble: looks like some changes didn't work in my version:
e.g. The Homeland 37 isn't renamed, it's still Homeland 37... But the Desert Eagle is renamed.
    -----------------------
Update 2: So it seems that maybe the whole problem is a sorting problem.
I have tried further and the following occurs:
Bought the Makarow Pistol and that unlocks buying option for the perk (Operation Handbook) for the Homeland 37 Shotgun...

Maybe a problem of my german version?

Thank you for reporting your issues. I have some time tomorrow to take a closer look but your main problem sounds like you didn't start a new game or use one of the included tutorial skip saves. Please can you confirm you didn't use an existing save file?

      Thanks for your fast reply!
I can assure you, that I started a new game. And I just tried the included save game (Marty): same problem!
The weapon I tried was the G3-KA4

I couldn't resist having a look at your problem tonight but I haven't been able to replicate your issue.

Using the tutorial skip Marty save I can buy either the G3KA4 or Ithaca 37 and the correct upgrades are unlocked. This is using either English or German language. With your referral to the main menu, if you mean the 'Upgrades'/'Verbesserungen' menu in the pause menu then that is unfortunately broken and you need to use the weapon shop computer to see what upgrades you have bought.

I see what you mean about the wrong Homeland 37 name and I've uploaded patch files for you with that fixed (download here).

Please can you send over your saves files and I can test those out too?

Thanks again for the fast reply and patch, works well!

Yes you are right, I mean the 'Verbesserungen' in the Pause Menu. But it is only broken in (any?) modded version, right?
Because shortly before installing your mod I have played the unmodded vanilla version of the game, and the 'Verbesserung' menu works as it should...

And yes, in the weapon shop computer the correct corresponding upgrades are shown. So is it really only a display problem in the pause menu?
Is there a way of testing this theory? Cause honestly, I can barely 'feel' a difference between, for example, the precision upgrade for the G3KA4 with and without it ;-)

The broken 'Verbesserungen' menu is unique to my mods and is due to reorganising the weapon shop. If it's a deal breaker for you then you will need to use a different mod. I never used that menu so it makes no difference to me, but I appreciate that others like yourself did use it.

The weapon upgrades all align in the game files, but if you want to test them your best option would be to buy the repair upgrades and then test if the gun last longer before they explode. You could keep shooting them outside the weapon shop non-stop. The performance upgrades increase accuracy and reduce recoil so it might be hard to 'feel' that, as you describe.

No deal breaker for me as long as I know the upgrades are working. I will stay with your mod, I think it fits me best. Thanks again!

Hello,I also just found this problem...

If I understand correctly, the upgrades purchased in the weapon store are indeed activated.

But when you go to the main menu, the boxes are not checked?

Yeh I disabled that menu as it isn't working properly, I would totally remove it if I could but that hasn't been possible. You need to use the weapon shop computer to see what you've unlocked. Ignore the upgrades pause menu completely.
