iQEA Online is the system used to craft iQEA content packs. Rather than having to haul scrap around, simply buy the weightless iQEA tokens (10 caps each) using your Pipboy and use them to craft iQEA settlement objects as normal.
Rather than just be some glue that hold things together, I also have plans for some small quests related to iQEA, as well as (hopefully - no promises) a small stock market simulator. The quests and stock market will react to various things in game (mainly around using the mod and content packs)
How to get it:
Obviously you need to download the AIO installer which contains both the BA2 and loose files. If you are using the vanilla version (not Next Gen) of Fallout 4 then DO NOT INSTALL THE BA2 ARCHIVE VERSION. There's some NPCs that have been included (they're not active at the moment). These NPCs have no assets included at present so they're pretty much just place holders. When they're activated and I include their assets the facegen data will turn the archive into Next Gen only, so it will be a case of one update it works, then next it won't. If you want to run it through an archive patcher or something when that happens, I won't provide technical support as I have no way of testing it works reliably as I run Next Gen(1).
I'd also recommend grabbing any content packs you want and install them as well. After that start the game.
If you're on a new start then I'd recommend going through the character selection screen, and waiting in the bathroom until you see the message box that iQEA has been installed and how many new menus it's created in the workshop. If there are no content packs there will be no message box but a notification in the top left that it's detected no changes. Once a content pack is installed, on a game load it will start "installing" after 10 seconds or so and then display the message box along with notifications.
You may get a warning after 30 seconds or so, that your iQEA Online doesn't match the version a content pack needs. Each new content pack released requires a physical update (you downloading the latest version) to iQEA Online. If you come in at version 5 for example, then all the packs released up to version 5 will work with the install, but the packs after this would require updates. The reason for this is the fact I have to reference various things differently as iQEA Online can't "see" the forms for menus directly, and I won't know the addresses of the forms until I start building them. There may be times that a version won't require updating because something else in development is sufficiently far enough along for me to have form addresses, but it's more than likely this won't happen.
Usage:
To start using iQEA Online, find 1 plastic and head over to a chem bench. There will be an iQEA Online menu, so go into that and craft the holotape. To stop you spawning multiply holotapes it will check to see whether you have the tape in your possession already and lock it.
Now open the holotape in your Pipboy and you will be presented with the token store, a settings menu for iQEA Online, possibly menus related to content packs, and a legal shizzle section.
Token store menu
To build objects you'll need to buy tokens, so go to the token store. You can buy tokens individually or as a bundle of multiple tokens. Bundles always contain 10% extra free (eg: 50 tokens gets 55). Once every 24 hours you'll receive a lightning deal on token bundles. These lightning deals are extremely limited time, and unless you buy them on your next action in the menu then you'll lose it(2).
You can also sell back any unwanted tokens, but these are bought back at the price of 4 caps each to cover administration and restocking costs(3).
iQEA Online settings menu
The iQEA Online settings menu has two entries. The first is a reboot, and allows the system to revert to a pre-installed state and then relaunch itself. This is to be used if something does a revert to the workbench menu and removes the iQEA Online menus.
The second is a debug info. This is if anything messes up or you need to file a bug report. When you select the debug info, it will proceed to flash up several message boxes. The first one will be an ioversion (which is always needed), followed by a box for each of the content packs which will be a "can I see it" value, and an "is it installed" value (these will be 0 or 1). If you're posting a bug related to iQEA Online, then the bug report should go here and include the ioversion (I'll ask you for it anyway - I can see what versions you've downloaded, but it's just to make sure something odd isn't happening or you're still running an old version).
Other menus
Any menus related to content packs may also appear on the main menu. These will usually be related to various sorting options (group by colour, type or use both for example). The legal shizzle is pretty much what I've included further down this page, but with some added flavour tweaks. It's not required reading by any means.
To create objects, make sure you have the tokens, and then open the workshop menu. Find the icon for iQEA Online and the content packs will be in there, then just build like you normally would.
For modders:
If anyone is interested in releasing content packs using this system I'll be putting something in the files section which will provide everything you need to import stuff into iQEA Online menus (or using your own) complete with a "how to" guide. I'll even add you to the main installer if you want (this will require you to update a pack or let me know before you do a release). In the interests of transparency iQEA Online will never be registered for Donation Points. I'm not trying to game the system or anyone else by doing this. I'm not hoping someone will release a pack that starts trending, and then profit from it as it requires this. I don't roll like that (no disrespect to anyone who does, it's just not my brand of vodka). If you want to opt-in to donation points with a content pack then feel free, because you'll have done most of the hard work (I know what it can be like making them).
Did I use AI?
The short answer is yes.
The detailed answer is a little more complicated. I was banging my head against a wall trying to debug an issue. I wasn't sure whether I was misunderstanding something so I asked ChatGPT to do an "explain it like I am 5" for me. She (female persona) was also invaluable with other aspects, such as spotting where I was possibly creating problems for myself. I'd have probably spotted it for myself eventually, but it meant I was getting a heads up as she did a virtual play through of things. She also optimised part of the script that adds new menus at load time. Most of the code is mine, but there's a few bits I've changed on the advice of ChatGPT (including me taking an idea, but changing it so it operates differently).
For me ChatGPT is more a research tool (although we usually end up digressing into chit chat). I'll see what suggestions it comes up with, and then I can either change ideas to suit my needs or spot something that is a slightly better way of doing things as I progress. If anyone is thinking I'm sat here getting ChatGPT to churn out the code while I just pop it where it tells me, it's not a case of that at all, and it's more a case of it helping me make it better. Consider it as me asking for help in the forums. I may ask something, and then be given some code by a fellow modder, which I'll then use (and give credit). The only difference is I'm using AI, and not taking up anyone else's time.
View it as you will.
Currently available content packs:
This list is alphabetical, and numbers in brackets are the version of iQEA Online required.
The Psychedelic Elegance Collection (1)
The Southgate Estate Project - Primitives (2)
Fin!
As always, love/hate/perform bizarre experiments on, and give me some feedback if you want.
Legal Shizzle:
The story, all names, characters, and incidents portrayed in this production are fictitious. No identification with actual persons (including, but not limited to the living, deceased, undead, minor deities, medium deities, major deities, pan-dimensional entities, hallucinations of people due to the side effects of medication/recreational drug use, or imaginary friends), places, buildings, businesses, products (or the quality thereof) is intended or should be inferred. No animals were harmed during the production of this mod, although I did have to take my doggoes for their yearly vaccinations and they spent the rest of the night sulking.
Footnotes:
1 - I don't want to have multiple instances of Fallout 4 on one machine. I use one specific machine for development and testing and it's asking for pain if things get confused over what is where. I also don't want to mess around with Steam downloading the old version or pay for it a second time on GOG. Sorry, but it is what it is.
2 - iQEA are not some shonky company using high pressure tactics with never ending lightning sales to try and pressure you constantly - they only try it once a day.
3 - Well to be honest there aren't any, but you know - roleplay? It stops you gaming the token bundles and sales as well for profit :P
