I don't play FO4 anymore so won't be able to answer specific questions regarding this mod. But judging from prior comments, it appears to work just fine with the next gen version.
What does the mod do? It adds the effects of Companion Infinite Ammo, No Companion Power Armor Damage, Companions Can Sneak, and Companion Fall Damage Immunity to all companions, including DLC and Mod Companions.

Do I need the old better companions mod? Can I still use the mcm menu to adjust the campanions settings? If not, how do you adjust the companions behavior? Sorry to ask so many questions.
There is a different mod entirely that does similar that I think you may be confusing it with that uses the same name: Better Companions - All-in-One (BetterCompanions.esp) Now, that mod does include a holotape for adjustments, and m8r created a MCM Settings Menu for it that requires having BetterCompanions.esp (which isn't this mod)
There are no extra adjustments for this mod like the BC AIO. This one doesn't alter vanilla records or introduce scripts so it's more conflict-free.
Wait hold up this is one of your mods you mentioned to me on Discord. Got around to looking for a mod that adds unlimited ammo for companions and forgot I had this. Sounds like one of the better ones. And it works good so far. I'm just testing unlimited ammo from this mod with unlimited companion framework and it seems to be working with multiple companions!
No. It's unnecessary, since this only adds some effects to all Vanilla/DLC/Mod Companions. To verify it, I downloaded the old Better Companions MCM Mod and this one, and it says it 'requires BetterCompanions.esp', which this mod does not use/need.
Loading this mod and starting a new game causes the game to be stuck on the mist portion of character creation. Disabling this mod and the new game starts as normal.
Edit: had to move the mod to the bottom of the load order. Hopefully it doesn't break anything.
