Users of certain mod managers or those with insufficient PC permissions may experience crashes when loading save files or be unable to use the filter settings. In that case, please download and install both the main file and the optional file from the file tab and use them.
I don’t use the NG version myself and honestly don’t have the skills to make NG-compatible versions. So it’s unlikely at this point — I hope you understand.
Please excuse the interruption, I just wanted to ask if I'm doing something wrong:
I've switched from Win7 to Linux and after years of abstinence I've now installed the GOG version (1.10.163) of Fallout 4 with Vortex.
Now I'm looking for the mods I had on Win7. And an autoloot mod is absolutely essential for me in Fallout 4. I'm far too lazy to collect it all myself.
Your mod immediately caught my eye. Also the nice treatment here in the posts. The thing is, when I press the button for manual gathering everything works great. The items disappear into the inventory faster than I can look. Optionally with or without container switched on or off.
But I'm also too lazy to keep pressing the button. But nothing happens automatically. Even with a button inserted to switch looting on or off.
When you pick up a single item from the ground or from a container, nearby items should be automatically looted as well. I assume you've already checked this, but just in case, I'll explain in detail. In the MCM under the Basic Settings section, is the Enable Looting option activated? Even with that setting enabled, does auto-loot still not trigger when you manually pick up an item?
In fact, I didn't get the idea to collect anything during testing.
On my Win7 system I had a loot collector that just collected everything. That's why I simply transferred my expectations to your mod.
I stood in front of the things on the tables and waited to see if anything happened.
I've now tested it again. As soon as I collect something, everything in the area disappears and goes into my inventory. That's great, I can live with that. Thanks for drawing attention to this feature of the mod.
The consequence of this gameplay would be that the treasure rooms are not already empty when I open them and I can also see what I've got. xD
I'm still in the preliminary phase of collecting and installing the mods for a nice game start and testing if everything works before I start a serious game. And your mod is in my archive folder has been sorted into the folder for the Absolutely Necessary basics mods.
I'm just a simple source user, and I haven't been able to successfully compile using the NG version's source. Therefore, the chances of a compatibility update are quite low. However, there's a great mod called 'Merged Loot' that NG users can use, so feel free to check it out if you're interested.
hello! just wanted to ask why the items that are out in the open like "plates" for example, aren't auto-looted. Is there any setting for that? Im on a Storywealth collection by the way if it helps. but other than that, everything works great as intended.
I don't speak English well, so I couldn't fully understand the details. If the 'plate' is an item added by a mod, please provide the link to that mod and the FormID of the item so I can check it.
Plates, as in plate for food which can be scrapped, another example, pre-war money, which can be scrapped to cloth. basically "base game" junk items scattered around the world NOT IN CONTAINERS, does not auto-loot. I hope this helps a bit better.
In this case, I can only think that there is a conflict with another mod. I think it might be causing a conflict with an F4SE-based mod that activates when acquiring items from the field. If that's not the case, items in containers are automatically acquired without issue, but there should be no reason why items in the field can't be acquired. There may be other issues, but at least I don’t know what the problem is. I apologize for not providing a clear answer.
February 15, 2025 (6.2.2 Update): Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I tried the mod again to see if it'll work on NG... Nope. Hey, I can dream!
(6.2.1 Update) I'm not going to lie, I saw the new download, and it didn't have "This mod does NOT apply to the NEXT GEN version" and got VERY excited - this mod still does not work with NG.
First, thank you for taking the time to make a mod! Especially one that is sorely needed!
I'm tracking the mod in the hope of a NextGen update. Sadly. it does not work for me now, and I find the advantages of NextGen greatly outweigh not being able to use many mods (I'm looking at you, too Fallout London) :P
Since I know many users are using the NextGen update, I understand the issue. However, I'm not sure how to resolve it, so I don't think I'll be able to fix the compatibility for now.
Sharing the source code itself isn’t a problem, but since I’m not yet familiar with the changes in the NextGen version of Fallout 4, I might face challenges if any issues arise after modifications. It would be difficult for me to step in and fix those issues later, so I think it’s best for me to study and work on it myself. Once I’ve finished translating a few of the existing mods I’ve made, I’ll try to give it a go.
This was requested. I suggest you just TRACK this mod and when/if the MA makes the change, you'll see it in the notes.
I just wish the MA would update the TAGS to properly reflect that it's NOT NG compatible, rather than just placing it in the description notes. This way, if it begins to work in NG, the MA can just remove the "Broken in NG" tag.
You can loot at your desired timing, giving the player more feedback when picking up items, and it also has more detailed filtering options. However, this also means that items are not picked up automatically, and the settings are more complex. So, choose the mod that best suits your preference.
I don't know LootMan, never used it. But just by the look at the mod page there are a couple of things that stand out to me. For example, the last mod author activity was Nov 2023, so it seems that the mod is not actively developed anymore. The bug section has 30 entries, the majority of them are ignored by the author and the last time the author reacted to a bug report or problem in the posts section dates back to Dec 2021. Looking at the posts page, there are tons of complaints about game crashes and the mod not working properly, but no reaction by the author or any form of help.
I don't try to talk the LootMan mod bad, but this is something I pay attention to when I download a mod, and ignoring bugs reports and complaints by users is not a good sign.
