Basically instead of White Bottles could we get Empty Bottles? They are closer to the top of the junk page but more than that it would give it Excellent, Perfect compatibility with this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/83235?tab=description
Which, would be a literal dream if the Empty Bottles could get cycled, drank, reused, just kind of being a permanent resource to fill and refill instead of getting lost as scrap items. On your end just changing the outputted bottle though, if that's something you would be into at all! As it stands though the main functionality of this mod and way you stripped it down means this is permanent in my load order anyway 😊
The White Bottle is the most generic bottle in the game, so using it for almost everything is the easiest and most compatible way. And adding new variants or a new generic bottle would require a ton of patching with existing mods and DLCs. :)
Okay, it looks like I misunderstood the other mod anyway. I thought there was a generic item "empty bottle" but apparently not, anyway this mod works great!! And thanks for getting back :)
Oh this is awesome. I was hesitant to get the original GMTB due to all the bloat so manya thanks. Though is there any posibillity that we get a version where you get the corresponding bottle and not just a standard white one? Like beer and whiskey bottles etc.?
There are too many bottles in the game and its DLCs, it's too tedious to map them all together. So probably no, unless someone is crazy enough to do that.
Also, my method is the most consistent and compatible way possible. Changing that procedure would require a ton of patching.
Maybe a middle ground could be a way for players to setup their own mapping with simple esp edits or ini or maybe a RobCo patch. I imagine most of us only care about a few kinds of bottles. In my case, I’m messing around with making a custom cryo-cooled Nuka variant and looking for a way to get back the expensive to make cryo bottles. I’ll be checking out your mod later to see if I can maybe piggy back off the white bottle-Nuka switch/conditional in some way without script alterations (though my blind bet is that comes from the cap return code so probably SOL :).
+0.1 if you the white bottles flagged with a different category (aid), so I don't keep quickstacking them with the other junk into my camp. Or take it a step further and add a chem recipe to make a 'sterilized' bottle that is not junk.
Just don't take it any further than that, or I will accuse you of making it bloated.
I would rather keep it in it's current state. Changing the category is not item category is not possible, as far as I know, and adding new recipes wouldn't fit very well in a mod like this, but it's still good idea.
The original contained tons of edits to ingestibles, Quests and more, making it incompatible with a lot of mods. It also added crafting recipes and many variants to bottles. Some of those things are not wanted by everyone.
It only has one quest edit (HC_Manager), and it is to be able to refill the bottles (an another formID list for the same). That part of the patch is easy. What is has been a pain for me is adding the edits from pure and dirty water from other mods into the new variants of bottled water. Also, that mod is designed for survival, but it assigns a weight of zero to the empty bottles, which makes little to no sense.
