    Q: I cannot unblock, I'm stuck in the blocking state unless I enter vats, crouch, or jump!
    A: I am very certain that you have a mod that makes changes to the animation calls pertaining LeftAttackRelease in MeleeBehavior (Not the HKX File, but the one you see in CK or FO4EDIT under animations) I will have a list of known mods (under article) that can conflict with hold block mod.

    Q: My character still does the "parry" animation in third person!
    A: You are probably using melee sneak animation loco blending fix (or third person behavior fix). If so, You can find the patch file under Optional files.
    UPDATE: Melee Sneak animation loco blend fix was just updated and they have just included a patch file for Melee hold block!


    Q: Can you reduce it to (limited duration that destroys the entire purpose of this mod) block instead?
    A: No, there are other mods that do exactly that.

    Q: Can you add (random feature) to hold block mod?
    A: Sorry no, I don't want to dive into feature creeping.

    This mod is awesome! Also, from what I've seen, this mod ALSO fixes the issue with the auto-blocking glitch when you use biped slot 59. (Take that with a grain of salt, it just seems to be fixed for me.) Thank you!

    I was going crazy for hours because of "cannot unblock" thing after the uninstallation. I thought I removed all mods related to the meleebehavior. But actually, I was missing Very Minor PipBoy Fix's patch! I completely forgot there was a compatibility patch included in its FOMOD. Just FYI in case someone else might be wondering where to suspect.

    So I I know you said NO adding features... I say this kicking myself as I become THAT guy... I swear I wouldn't ask if it I wasn't DYING for this feature... but I have been a long time user of the combination The Lightsaber and Bullet Deflection Mod to feel like I can be a jedi/melee fighter that can fight against ranged combatants. And I stand in the open and try and tank fire while my companion(s) fire past me. But it's so hard to catch a shot right in that original block animation and have been wanting a mod like this for yeeeeeaaaars.

    Everyone I asked said it couldn't be done.

    However the bullet deflect mod and this one don't seem to be compatible. Is there any way for a compatibility patch? Or a simple way to make them not incompatible?

      one could do it using the ricochet chance but you would need to modify the kill-on-return effect or replace the Luck 10 Perk with another effect.
      it'll be incompatible with too many things to make it worth making imo

    ....story time's over, technical note:

    Since in vanilla you only mitigate 25% of an blocked attack (modified by Braced, Sentinel, etc) I wonder why yours causes it to be 100%

    Also thanks for specifying WHAT causes conflicts; I'll make sure my changes don't touch LeftAttackRelease and then we should be good.

      Even without my mod, or going pure vanilla, I still block 100%. Even on fresh new saves as well. I don't know why it does for me. Very odd. The only thing my mod does is change the animations and thats really it.

      Also no problem, heard from one of your previous posts that you mentioned you were going to make a compact patch, I'll update the compatibility article when you release the patch for your mod!

      It just dawned on me: are you playing on one of the "normal" difficulty levels? Because i've been playing exclusively in Survival mode since it was released....

      But it's weird that there are items that "increase the amount of blocked damage" in the game if it's ONLY meant for survival mode... which didn't even come out until shortly after release... still, Beth being Beth, i would not be shocked if they didn't have block damage in non-Survival mode.

      Wait what, you don't block all damage in all of the difficulties? I was sitting here pondering the point of the brace armor mods since you already block 100%. To answer your question, yes I test my mods and do my playthroughs on the regular difficulties.

      I'll have to test out survival mode if I get the chance because I don't know that

    This is great! I'm wondering if there's a way to

    1. Make blocking drain AP.

    2. Allow the player to move faster while blocking.

    It's a niche issue, really, but I'm using this alongside lightsaber bullet deflect and while it works perfectly, I feel that I need to find a way to balance blocking out. There's plenty I can do to balance melee blocking with other mods, but nothing that discourages the player from blocking bullets indefinitely. Taking out the occasional ceiling/wall turret is fine, but I'm trying to think of something that makes blocking more of a buffer to help the player close the distance between ranged foes.

      1. Refer to the FAQ.
      2. That is an option, where the player can move at normal speed even while blocking, but I haven't bothered releasing the update.
