N99C 10mm Pistol Replacer

After much more effort than it should have taken, I am proud to present a fully-functional replacer version for C1ph3rr's N99c 10mm Pistol. As implied, this mod will replace all vanilla 10mm pistols. In addition, I have also fixed a couple of bugs/oversights present in the original mod. I uploaded an optional file with just these fixes if you'd like them without the replacer. They include:

  • Mods in the crafting menu are now ordered by tier instead of alphabetically

  • Sights will no longer appear twice in the crafting menu

Stats have been set to the values of the vanilla 10mm pistol (originally slightly better) and all attachment options remain unchanged. Finally, for the replacer version, I have verified that Wastelander's Friend (the only unique 10mm pistol in the game) and Piper's 10mm pistol spawn correctly. I have tested that the mod itself works, but I tested it on a vanilla, fresh save with no other mods. That said, compatibility with most other mods shouldn't be a problem. Mods that edit the 10mm pistol or Wastelander's Friend (like Unique Uniques) will conflict with this. Mods that edit Piper should be compatible so long as they don't edit the record for her 10mm pistol. If you're unsure about a mod, load this mod after it to ensure compatibility. It should be bug-free, but please report any issues you may run into.

Known Issues:

  • If you install mid game, 10mm Pistols already in the world will have vanilla parts. This can be easily fixed at a weapon workbench, but it's recommended you install on a new save to avoid this altogether.
  • Vanilla 10mm mods will still appear in vendor menus but will not be able to be applied to the pistol. These mods are redundant. This is because I didn't want to edit leveled lists to help with compatibility.
  • If you are already using the original mod and install this mid-game, the original mod's N99s may still spawn alongside the replaced vanilla 10mms. This is because the leveled list injection script runs once after the mod is installed. To work around this, uninstall the original N99c mod, make a clean save, and then install this mod. Note that this will remove all N99s added by the original mod, so take care that you don't lose any pistols you want to keep.

Installation:

Install C1ph3rr's N99c mod first (using your mod manager of choice or manually) and let my mod override/overwrite the original .esp.
Note about Wastelander's Friend:

Fallout 4 handles unique weapons differently from past games. As such, replacing the 10mm and its mods was not enough to make Wastelander's Friend work right. The most noteworthy aspect is that it still has its recon scope. This was an intentional decision as a way to distinguish it as "unique". The scope can be removed and put on another 10mm but cannot be crafted. If you want to know the method I used to adapt Wastelander's Friend, read the following; but if you value your sanity, please ignore this and use the mod knowing that it just works.

I couldn't work out how to force Wastelander's Friend to use attachments from this mod. Instead, it always turned out to be a horrible mashup of both, pulling specific mods from vanilla despite my efforts. After sinking hours into FO4Edit to try to find the specific record that calls for the gun to choose its specific parts, I determined this was likely a script. As I am not good at scripting, I decided to rename the attachments to "Wastelander's" and change their models to point to the N99's parts instead of the vanilla. This means that, technically, the vanilla attachments are still on the gun; but they are functionally identical to the mod's counterparts. I renamed them solely to differentiate from the craftable mods (to avoid potential confusion at there being two "Large Magazine" mods, for example). Meaningfully, this change means nothing. If you are able to find out how to change uniques' modifications without using this method, please let me know.
