Notes: - Im open for future updates and new map markers - Some map marker should be generalized and specifics swapped, e.g. The Castle will use the Military Checkpoint marker - Most unmarked locations from https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Map:Fo4_Commonwealth have been added
So I've been looking for a mod that will add map markers to my map from further away (which this wont do). It makes no logical sense at all that the player needs to be literally standing on the entrance to an interior cell (or in the exact center of an outdoor location), in order for a map marker to be added to your map. I can locate the Empire State Building without having to be standing in in the freakin' lobby. Bethesda seems to think otherwise though, and the modding community nonsensically agrees. Oh well, just another mod that I'll have to make myself, as always, and keep to myself, as always.
That's a great job.Can you do a similar thing, only in reverse, removing absolutely everything except the institute? I like to play on survival mode, and this would be a nice gameplay premise
Hey! Vey good job with the markers. One thing though, not sure if it's your mod causing it, but I don't have any markers showing up on my compass (like when you get near a location).
The Sanctuary Root Cellar is now marked as a settlement, which means that the settlement supply line will target the cellar instead of Sanctuary itself in the Pip-Boy.
Interesting, do other map marker also have such hardcoded "features" ? Im pretty sure i did not move anything to the root cellar... i removed the sanctuary minutemen map marker instead. Your sure you do not have mod conflicts?
Checked and the map marker icon was the only change present in the files. So i have no idea, i doubt the game uses the map marker name as reference but maybe. More info needed.
Would your mod be compatible with a mod that adds color to the map markers? I'm looking at https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/78900, it's a replacer that only affects one file.
A word of caution This mod works perfectly for my volunteer tester. However, when setting off to Nuka World for the first time, I experienced a map-related CTD as I approached the transfer point. I don't believe my modification is the cause, or I would not be offering it for others to use. But - because I can't guarantee it - please follow best practice and make a hard save before installing the file, and test the approach (on foot) to Nuka World before you do too many other exciting things.
On this, a massive thanks to Btoop for a Nuka World UI Mod Crash Fix which "solves CTD caused by various UI mods by replacing DLC map markers with map markers from the base game." Since installing this fix, my game has worked fine. (Disabling this fix results in a CTD both with and without my map modifications.) Note that this UI Mod crash fix is not necessary if you're not experiencing the same CTD on approaching / travelling to Nuka World.
for real, like I saw a similar map which looked pretty geographically realistic and smaller just the only thing that confused me is a giant lake east of rhode island and how close plymouth was to boston, and then it got to the vineyard sound and holy heck
For some reason, Diamond City, Concord and Lexington no longer have map markers. They have map markers for locations inside of them (eg. Diamond City Market, Museum of Freedom) but the normal map markers for the locations never show up. I'm not sure if this is a bug caused by this mod or not but this is the only mod I have that modifies map markers.
Its normal, why would you need it? Its a leftover from Fo1 and 2 where you needed the map marker for the town itself to fast travel. In Fo4 we do not need it. We can fast travel directly to the desired sub-location.
I honestly just wasn't expecting it so it caught me off guard lol. I'm not saying I need them to be there I was just surprised when I walked into Diamond City and didn't discover it. Figured something was wrong. Thanks for clarifying!

that is the mod your searching and cleanse yourself from the evil.
which means that the settlement supply line will target the cellar instead of Sanctuary itself in the Pip-Boy.
I guess the game thinks the cellar is part of the settlement because it's directly next to it.
Thanks for telling me. I just dont have time right now. To many things at once :|
