Overview
Fallout 4's UI is generally pretty nice to look at. Hard lines and transparent windows, with clean, readable text, and bold drop shadows for accenting.

Unfortunately, these design ideas were thrown out of the window for the Pip-Boy. It has to settle for a claustrophobic frame, a thick, curved glass screen that distorts everything you put on it, a bad RetroArch CRT shader, and maybe 40% of your total screen real estate. Maybe it's more immersive, but it's certainly not more useable, which I think is a more important metric for something as critical as a menu that acts as your stats list, inventory management, quest log, and map.

Baka Fullscreen Pip-Boy was made in an attempt to fix this. It breaks the Pip-Boy menu out of the Pip-Boy screen and displays it like most other menus in the game.

Features
  • Fully removes the Pip-Boy menu from the Pip-Boy screen.
(This includes both the 5 main tabs, and also Holotape Terminals/Holotape Games played on the Pip-Boy.)
  • Toggle the Pip-Boy visual effects, and optionally keep the coloration without the effects, including the unique color while in Power Armor.
  • Special Pip-Boy animations should still work as expected, like the Vault Door unlock sequence that displays a message on the screen.
(The first time equip animation for the Pip-Boy with the boot sequence plays as normal but will show the menu on the screen afterwards. Simply close and open the Pip-Boy once to switch to the full screen menu.)
  • Various background options: disable vanilla's blurred background, or add a black background with customizable transparency.
The black background can either cover the entire screen, or only the screen behind the Pip-Boy menu.
  • A toggle in the MCM (or an optional Fallout 76-like Quick-Boy hotkey) to return to the normal Pip-Boy experience at any time.
This mod makes a pretty radical change to the game, and while I think I've covered every case, there could be the odd issue that shows up. The MCM toggle should make working around anything that might a breeze.
  • Complete 3rd person support that keeps the player in 3rd person while opening the Pip-Boy.
  • Customize the size and position of the Pip-Boy on screen.

Installation
Install with a mod manager, it only requires F4SE and Address Library.

Compatibility
It should be compatible with just about everything.
Yes, that includes FallUI.

I don't touch any of the actual Pip-Boy Interface files, only the underlying code in the executable. As far as I know, not many mods, if there are any at all, do the same. The only caveat is that you should use Baka Fullscreen Pip-Boy's option to disable Pip-Boy effects if you'd like to do that with FallUI. The Fallout4.ini setting works but looks much worse.
