    My final update for this mod. I am discontinuing support and development for this mod in favour of my new mod OCD - Overhauled Critical Damage. OCD grants a (smaller) boost to damage much like this one, in addition to enabling critical hits outside of VATS. It also extends beyond the bobbleheads to some of the magazines. I want to thank everyone who supported this mod and I hope you enjoy my future work.

    An idea if you ever do the magazine thing: The dumb magazine that gives you a diamond city map marker could give +XP for finding locations (similar to piper's perk) instead. :0

    Does this work okay if applied to an existing save game? (A character who already has some bobbleheads in vanilla?)

      It should, it has worked for me. An easy way to find out if it does or does not is to check your perks list first thing, if you have the small guns and unarmed bobbleheads then they should show up in the list. Let me know if this mod isn't working on existing save games and I'll look into it.

    Just a quick update, it occurred to me as I was ironing my shirt that there may be a way to apply critical hits outside of VATS. I will be looking into further after work, but in the mean time I would like to get opinions on how the bobbleheads should mod the damage. Should there be a flat increase in damage, coupled with an additional chance at a critical hit? Should I just mod it so that it has a critical hit chance outside of VATS with no increase to base damage? How high should the base damage increase be? the critical chance? the critical damage? I would love your opinions on the matter.

    Thank you guys for all the support thus far. I'm in the process of finishing up and polishing the next update. It will include a fix for the heavy guns exploit as well as re-purposed perk menu animations and sounds. The update should be ready in about 1-2 days. Moving forwards in this mod I will be looking at ways to create and use custom animations and sounds for the perks menu. I will also get around to creating an optional download that will give a balanced boost of both base and critical damage as requested by PensiveWolF.

    Moving forward in my modding I will look at altering the critical damage boost supplied by magazines as requested by DT34, however this will take the form of a separate mod as I do like to keep my mods modular, allowing the user to pick and choose what they want to change. Further along I plan to take a gander at altering how weapon mods boost critical damage, and this will round off a set of mods aimed at reducing the reliance on VATS critical hits for large damage.

      If you're planning to tweak the boosts from magazines, can you do a version that changes those from criticals to damage also, as you have for the bobbleheads? The reason that I ask is that I rarely get crits. I strive for one-shot kills (or at most two shots) and I mod all of my weapons accordingly.

      And in regards to the Surgical Journal, change it from a crit boost to a healing boost?

    Thanks.. I agree with the others here that can't stand the VATS. Tried using it a couple times early on... never again.

    This is a good idea. I hate the way they do criticals - I presume it's supposed to be for the console gamers but it just seems stupid to me.

    THANK YOU! I hate using VATS expect for hitting the annoying flying bugs or really small targets, and never remember to use the new crit system they implemented. Again thanks you for this.

    I like the idea. I don't use VATS, so many game bonuses from magazines, bobbleheads, and perks are useless to me..

      Yep. Same here. I reserve VATS for the annoyingly impossible to hit creatures like the baby crabs and amazingly psychic bloatflies that can dodge a bullet spray after it's been fired. Other than that, I like to play the game myself and not have some fake computer play it for me. Turns out I'm a better shot than the fake computer.

    like the idea, i always forget to use crits, so this will help a lot more this way. but any chance that you could maybe make an optional alt version of the mod that does both base and crit damage? just a thought.

      The moment after I published this I thought about this idea. I'll see about it, from what I've learnt about the forms it shouldn't be too difficult.
