Me too, but I still have a few more standalone entries, as well as updating/refining the earlier ones. I've learned a lot about face building since I started the series, so I want to apply those improvements to the earlier entries before making the AiO. Also, I'm "white boarding" a secondary mod to compliment the AiO that'll be called the "Immersion and Quality of Life Pack," or something along those lines. It'll be nifty.
I've already asked around but no one could answer me, maybe you know something about it.
I thought it was some mod, but there is a bug in the game base that some female colonists are actually Males, Better Console reports this. Better Console
So when I try to apply the Looks Menu on them it gives me a lot of bugs, not to mention that I can't change their hair, something that is possible on colonists who are actually women.
Do you know why this happens and do you know a mod that fixes it? I've tried many but none of them work.
All female settlers use the male templates from the description for statistical data but have their own NPC (Actor) references for face/body data, voice data, and similar female stuff. This is common throughout the game, actually, where the stats data and appearance data are kept in separate records. Sometimes, the stats data is male and sometimes it is female. It depends on the group.
I'm not entirely sure why looks menu works on some NPCs and not others. All I know for sure is that, usually, it works on unique, named NPCs, but rarely works on nameless, random NPCs.
That clarified a lot, thanks for the answer. My goal is to understand how this works to prevent bugs from occurring. What a mess Bethesda made in this game...
Just a theory, but the bug that sometimes makes female settlers register as males likely has to do with them relying on a male template for their stats. It could be that the engine has a hiccup while joining the male template stats with the female face/body/voice info and, somehow, the female flag doesn't get toggled on when the NPC spawns. The NPC still looks female, but registers as male for purposes of gender-based attack forms, perks, and other "magical" effects.
Had Bethesda made separate male/female base templates from the start, issues like this probably wouldn't happen, but there are so many of these shared templates now, separating them into specific male/female versions would be a massive undertaking.
Now I understand why presets and mods that change the body in general cause so many bugs, most of which are not the fault of the people who make mods or the users who use them, but rather the company that created a completely irrational base in the game .
Thanks for making this. Bugfixes don't always get the attention they deserve. Btw you might have missed putting object bounds on EncWorkshopNPCMaleFarmer01b. Unless that was intentional for some reason.
Yes. The only "conflict" is with Farmer05. UFO4P makes the same fix to Farmer05's face, but not the missing inventory flag. So, as long as my mod loads second, both of Farmer05's fixes will work.
The way I've found it, the "b" variant of settlers seem to be intended to be slightly crap versions, stat wise. Seems to be mirrored in their looks too (mostly). There's a lot of weird barely documented stuff going on with these records. Nice job making them a little more consistent!
Yeah, the quality of "b" variants seems to be lower, almost incomplete, as if their maker didn't have time to finish them before the game's release.
I found some other inconsistencies, too, and I may revisit them in the future, but the "errors" these six NPCs had seemed to matter most, so I reigned in the fixes.
