The DP-27 machine gun, also known as the Degtyaryov Pekhotny 1927, is a Soviet-designed light machine gun that gained notoriety during World War II. It was renowned for its reliability and simplicity, making it a preferred choice for Soviet infantry. This gas-operated, air-cooled weapon featured a distinctive top-mounted drum magazine, usually holding 47 rounds of 7.62x54mmR ammunition. Its design allowed for sustained fire and was often employed in both offensive and defensive roles. The DP-27 played a significant part in the Red Army's arsenal and left a lasting mark on the history of firearms.
